QB Patrick Mahomes II, KC (1 Viewer)

Next Gen Stats
Patrick Mahomes was most effective as a passer against the Ravens defense in single-high coverages.

Mahomes finished 12 of 14 for 151 yards (+13.8% CPOE) against single-high coverages, his highest CPOE mark against single-high since Week 17, 2021.

My favorite player and a the best QB I have ever seen. However, maybe not the fantasy player he once was or what I expected to be in 2024.

Good defense. Reid likes to run the ball. Poor offensive line tackle play. Teams not allowing the deep pass. Last year, MVS and Toney dropped a few. Has Reid lost something?

I wonder if Mahomes has been figured out a bit.

Been about 10 so so games in a row, yes I know they're off the bowl but lets be real they got bailed out with a bunch of calls on the road there. Should have lost last week.

As an NFL fan, you'd love to have him.

For fantasy, he's sliding into mid quite possibly.

Fair point, he has not been an FF difference maker. I thought this year would be different, albeit with a healthy Marquise Brown. Defenses seem to have an edge early and making teams play small ball. I wonder if an aging Kelce has taken that consistent middle of the field gimme away. It will be interesting how they adjust especially after they lost their workhorse running back.

Brown and Worthy were expected to stretch the field and open the offense up for everyone, but with Brown gone for the season and Worthy seemingly still learning the offense, it hasn't happened. Their offense so far has largely looked it did for most of last year. And with Pacheco now hurt and Kelce not being the dominant pass catcher he was once was, I don't see it getting better FF-wise consistently any time soon. Mahomes is still the best QB in the league in real terms of course, but in FF, he is not.

Seems like an uphill battle every time the offense has the ball especially without Pacheco threatening from the backfield. Looks like another year of the defense carrying this team if they are going to have a shot at the triple.

Chargers
New Oreleans
Bye

Hopefully by Week 7 things are in gear a bit. Not giving you an ROI right now but the floor is... semi manageable?

I'll be looking at rolling Jayden Daniels over him next week myself rather than face the Chargers. Moreso because that should be a low pace game

But I can't believe 3 games in I'm benching the Qb2 drafted in my league

Mahomes and Kelce absolutely destroy the Chargers on the reg.

Kelce is shot

And Harbaugh is on that sideline now.

Posted in the game thread. I'm gonna throw out trade offers. I'll trade at a loss and hope he still carries some name value. He's on pace for career lows in TD and yardage and he doesn't run much anymore.

I'm somewhere in the stages of grief over the rice injury. There has been rage at the careless INT to kelce to denial at this broccoli headed idiot blowing out his WR1's knee after he made a full effort strip by deciding to blindly run his throwing shoulder into the knees of the return man.

He did enough this play, if you must tackle, tackle like a man.

I will never own this stiff again, can't wait for the magic carpet to run out.

Did you play Jayden or Mahomes this week? I should have started Purdy and will moving forward.

I played Jayden. Mahomes in 12 team leagues is droppable. But I've been shopping him like crazy but who's buying?

I genuinely don't know what to do with him in Dynasty. He's my only QB (single QB league). Can't really sell this guy can you? Surely it wouldn't take much for them to turn him back into a superhero? But you could probably get a guy giving you what he has done the past 15-20 games for virtually nothing by comparison.

Mahomes ain't doing crap with these receivers. The Chiefs have regressed now with Rice out and Kelce diminished.

That Mahomes pick yesterday was a direct result of him trying to force the ball to Kelce so the naysayers would just shut up. I do believe Nagy being there instead of Bieniemy is part of the reason for this. And Reid actually giving him play calling duties.

You can always tell during the course of the game when he is calling plays and when Reid takes over. For example, that play at the end where the Chiefs sealed the game was a classic Reid call. When the offense looks like dog crap there is just no imagination to the calls. That's Nagy IMO.

This team will win this year because of the defense. Not because of the offense. Their receivers as it currently stands simply cannot get open.

Do you think they will try and land someone via trade?

Ya, it's actually a worse off situation than last season. Mahomes has been the main driver for many of my successful keeper seasons, but it's time to get waivering for a QB. I'm in 2nd both leagues and don't want to start dropping games due to this obvious lack of support around him.

Spags lost pieces on that D but man he's so dialed in and the main reason they're 4-0.

That's a good question that I've been pinging around in my brain for the last 12 hours. If they want to 3-peat I think they have to. The problem is the Reid offense is not an easy offense for someone just to come in a pick up. So it would have to be a guy smart enough to pick up a complex offense quickly.

Plus it's going to take some serious draft capital to get someone worthwhile in my opinion. And while Veach is generally aggressive, I'm not sure he would be reckless here just to try for the 3 in a row. The Chiefs D is good enough to allow them to win like they did last year.

One guy that we may see is Nikko Remigio called up from the practice squad. He has had some really good training camps and this may be his time.

This is the key. Plus, they’re still winning games. So while FF Mahomes shareholders might see some dramatic urgency, it’s probably kinda business as usual for the Chiefs. I don’t think it’s moved the needle a bit. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see them do nothing.

Thanks. With Rice down, Kelce losing a step and Mahomes looking about as bad as he ever has, I think the offense is appreciably worse than it was last year. I honestly don't think this version of the team can get it done, even with the great D. Let's be honest, a couple of breaks go a different way and this team could be sitting here at 1-3.

It is still early though.

Isn't it foolish to bet against Mahomes? Not to ever predict injuries, I do wonder if the additional work for Kelce is a such a great thing for him long term. If I've ever learned anything, that is not to bet against Kelce either. When is Brown coming back?

Brown probably won't be back this year from what I've heard.

Yeah I agree with this.

But I remember thinking the exact same thing last year. Heck, I probably posted two dozen times in various game threads and such that they just look off. Yet they somehow won the Super Bowl.

At some point, and maybe it's this year, all those additional games and minutes for the last 6 years add up. The Chiefs have basically played an extra month of football for six straight years. A pretty incredible run but man, it's gotta catch up sometime.
