QB Russell Wilson, NYG (1 Viewer)

I saw potential in the first couple of weeks but last night dashed those hopes. Not being able to execute at home with the talent on this offense is a red flag. It's not working and it looks like it could actually get worse. So yeah, definitely droppable.
Some of it is.....WIlson is new and he is not on the same page with his WRs (especially Jeudy), but some of it is the playcalling. With one exception, every time the ball got dumped off to Javonte or Gordon, there were 2 SF defenders right there to stop it.....seems like DEN is easily readable on offense. Change it up....maybe put Javonte and Gordon on the field at the same time. Imagine Javonte on the wheel route, like what Aaron Jones does in GB.

That said, SF defense is pretty good. Don't know if I would drop him, but alarm bells should be ringing.

I posted this in the Williams thread - I'd like to see DN incorporate a few scripted RPO plays into the offense each game. Not a lot, but just as a wrinkle to the offense to give some different looks to the defense and keep the pass rush honest. Might also open ups some ability for Wilson to ad lib outside the pocket too.

I think the situation and coaching, makes him borderline droppable in 10, possibly even 12 teamers.
I'm in one particular 12 teamer, and I'm literally debating dropping him outright for Trevor Lawrence, and possibly even Marcus Mariota.
Each week it looks like his upside is slowly vanishing.
I noticed LAST WEEK he threw a couple "wounded duck" passes.......even if he is not slowly declining, all things considered, I'm debating going the streaming route.
I said about 3 years ago I was done drafting Wilson. After the start to this season, now I KNOW I'm done with him. I can't put it all squarely on Russell Wilson's shoulders though, some of it is likely scheme and coaching......... but that doesn't matter when it comes to my teams fantasy points.
It’s the perfect storm. Declining QB. New situation and not comfortable with the offense. Bad play calling. May hold for one more week or drop for Mariota.

It seems as if they are treating Russ as a rookie and have yet to open up the playbook. He threw some good passes and some terrible passes. He’s obviously not comfortable yet. It feels like they are trying to protect their investment by keeping him in the pocket. He’s obviously not toast because when it mattered most he got it done. He’s not as mobile as he used to be but he can still move when need be. I don’t have a lot of trust in the coaching staff at the moment. They are missing Tim Patrick for sure.

I think better days are ahead for Russ. He’s not gonna be a Manning who comes in and carves up defenses. He’ll be more Elway ish. It might be ugly at times but he still has the end of game killer instinct. I would not drop him in 12 team leagues. He has yet to get into the shootout portion of the schedule. Everything is new in Denver from the coaches to the QB.

Would like to see Russ & that offense chasing points. I don't see much hope for success at this point but how they respond to being down by multiple scores would be the final verdict on the potential here.

I agree

It seems like the just want to run the ball and keep Russ in the pocket through the first three games. They obviously haven’t had to do much to get the win. It feels like they are playing not to lose. They won’t be able to do this against good offenses.

Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett told reporters that if the Broncos had practiced Monday, Russell Wilson (soreness) would have been limited.

The Broncos didn't actually practice on Monday but released an estimated practice report because they are playing on Thursday Night Football. It doesn't sound like Wilson is in any danger of missing the game, as he appears to just be dealing with soreness. Wilson was actually highly efficient against the Raiders on Sunday, but his volume was limited. Held to just 25 passing attempts in a 32-23 loss, Wilson produced just 237 yards and two TDs. He'll look to bounce back against the Colts, but odds are that Denver continues to operate conservatively against an uninspiring Indianapolis squad.

As a forever Seahawk fan and one of Wilson's biggest critics, I'm really looking forward to Thursday night's game. I'm especially looking forward to Richard Sherman's comments about Wilson, as there was no love between those two. I'm bringing the popcorn.

Russell Wilson (shoulder) was limited in Tuesday's practice.

It's hard to call the TNF build-up practices important because they're often glorified walkthroughs, but Wilson now has back-to-back limited tags on the injury report. Nathaniel Hackett said that he anticipates Wilson playing on Thursday against the Colts, where he'll likely operate as a QB2 for fantasy purposes. Wilson is coming off a three-touchdown outing against the Raiders.

To be technically accurate, Wilson only had 1 limited practice. Hackett said IF the Broncos practiced on Monday (which they didn't) he would have been limited.

I know this isn't you (@Faust) saying this, it's just a pet peeve about this sort of reporting.

I am pretty confident Wilson will be out there on Thursday night.

Whew! Glad I held on. I beat the Josh Allen owner by 3 points - the difference between Russ and Allen on Sunday.

We're the sharks at with this cat lol. I can't trade him, can't drop him, can't play anybody any better. Well maybe a smidge.

He starts on one of my teams. Could be anything tonight. I'd take 250 passing, 2 TD's, and 25 yards rushing. Over or under?

Breakout game tonight for him and the Broncos.

380 yards passing , 4 Passing TDs, 30 yards rushing, 1 Rushing TD
After trying and failing to get Burrow over the last 2 hours, I'm cookin with Russ. I just couldn't pay AJ Dillon + Daubs. Too much. And it kills my week 7 where I've got both Jefferson + Davis on the BYE.

Praying hard you are accurate here - challenging matchup to put those kind of numbers up in, but I'm game if Russ is.

Not a Hackett fan at all, but I think the team starts to figure it out despite this. Run game will probably be stymied, but I think the passing game will bode will.

He's a hold for sure. Last game's 37+ was pretty darn solid, and he's finally getting all of his receivers involved (DEN TE's notwithstanding).

Remember, Russ basically had no preseason, and he really started to look like himself week 4. Hoping that trend continues tonight, because if he sucks, I'm gonna have to overpay for a QB.

I announced it in the game thread.
In my biggest league I will be 1-4 after this weekend, in large part due to Russell Wilson.
I will cut him early next week and just start streaming Mariota, T Lawrence and QBs of that ilk.

I'd rather "take a chance" at 16-17 pts, than hold Russell Wilson and "take a chance" at 5 .

Goodbye for the last time Russ, at least you gave me a good season or two over the years.

Wow. I didn't see one impressive pass the entire evening. If his receivers weren't given 5-10 yards of cushion he had no chance of completing a pass. Honestly, one of the worst QB performances you're ever going to see in this league. I need to take a shower after watching every snap of that lame excuse of a football game.

That interception to Gilmore was so poorly thrown I couldn’t actually believe it. A mid-tier college QB could have rifled it in there better. Shocking.

Ummm....tune into the next Panthers game and it will look much better.

There are three different thought processes you go through when deciding whether to cut a player:
  1. "If I cut him, someone will pick him up and start him against me, so I shouldn't do it."
  2. "If I cut him, no one will bother picking him up, so I might as well do it."
  3. "If I cut him, someone will pick him up and start him against me, so I should definitely do it."
Halfway through tonight's game, I started to think that Russ had moved from 1 to 2. By the end of OT, he had moved pretty decisively to 3.

Russell Wilson completed 21-of-39 passes for 274 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in the Broncos' 12-9, Week 5 loss to the Colts.

It was an ugly day for both quarterbacks on Thursday night, as Wilson and Matt Ryan combined to throw for 525 yards, no touchdowns and four interceptions. Wilson continues to look out of sync with his receivers, as he sails balls over their heads or looks lost on the play call. Wilson threw a critical interception in the end zone late in the fourth quarter as Denver was driving down the field to take the lead. Fans saw enough and were seen heading for the exits after the Colts forced inevitable overtime soon after the turnover. In the overtime period, Wilson targeted two-time All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore in the end zone on what would have been the game-winning touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton, only to see Gilmore deflect the pass and end the game with a turnover on downs. The Broncos have now scored 16 or fewer points in four of their five games to start the season, and a lot of that falls on Wilson. Heading into Week 6 against the Chargers, Wilson and the Broncos will look to get things right in a game that has the potential for a shootout. Until he turns things around, Wilson is probably closer to a high-end QB2.

His general ineptitude would be vaguely more tolerable if he wasn't such a gimp of a man.

But he is a complete gimp.

Dropping and never owning again after this week.

I can’t drop him until next week since I started him last night but I can’t wait to make the move. He has no excuses at this point. His WRs are getting open but Russ simply throws late or his throw is off the mark.

This is the kind of fall from grace I was rooting for when Brady left The Hoodie.
Brady fooled the league into believing that a past his prime QB could change teams and rekindle the magic.

Two problems: One, Brady was somehow NOT past his prime. Two, he has a deal with Satan (that seems to have finally expired)
