QB Spencer Rattler, NO (2 Viewers)

Gonna slice and dice the Bucs.
The week before Cousins ripped em for 500 yards Hurts struggled. Nix didn't throw a TD pass before that. Goff didn't throw a TD pass before that. Rattler is gonna dice em? Let's circle back on this. Ha ha
Somewhat tongue in cheek.

Been high on Rattler and these types of QBs just have a great record against the Bucs.

That being said Kancey (full) and Winfield (limited) may both be back this week so they could be the healthiest they’ve been all season. And I think they’ll be licking their chops for a rookie QB making his first start after that performance against Kirk.

Have Tua (who is hurt), Carr (who is out), Stafford and Darnold who are on byes.. So picked up Rattler who I don't expect much from

My season is done anyway with all the injuries

He looked fairly good in the first half with their scripted plays. Then Bowles kind of went into his bag of tricks to confuse him.
At one point mid-second quarter, Rattler was 10 of 13 with one TD pass.

What Bowles specifically did was employ a zone blitz most of the rest of the game. Rattler (and the patchwork O-line missing three starters + two backups) was consistently unable to pick out where the pass rush was coming from. Lots of free hitters against a rookie QB … Rattler went 12 of 27 with two picks the rest of the way.

Also lost Olave quite early. Wouldn’t surprise me with the season going down the toilet that they start evaluating for 2025 and Rattler could be a missing piece for a franchise qb. We will see though. Carr ain’t it

I traded Rattler away before the game started in a SF dynasty league that is tight with QBs. I wasn't a huge believer and wanted to sell the hype. I thought he looked pretty good for a first start and I'm a bit upset to have let him go.

Spencer Rattler completed 25-of-35 passes for 172 yards in the Saints’ 33-10, Week 7 loss to the Broncos, also losing two fumbles.

Rattler’s second fumble was really more of a pick-six where he coughed the ball up into the air under pressure. He was lucky it wasn’t his second fumble-six of the evening, as he had an earlier one called back by an offsides penalty. Rattler was hit while throwing on his first cough up. That one thankfully didn’t result in a Broncos house call. That was the only good news of the night for an overmatched rookie who took a seat late and watched Jake Haener promptly lead a touchdown drive. Rattler’s supporting cast made for a hopeless situation, but he failed to overcome it to the degree that it’s fair to wonder if Haener gets the call in Week 8 against the Chargers if Derek Carr isn’t ready to return. More than anything, Rattler was making really poor reads.

I kind of want to give a day 3 rookie playing with backups at every single position a bit of a pass, but man that was atrocious. I'm always thought of Rattler as a long-term backup level prospect, like a Minshew type, but considering GB was also out multiple starting DBs, a shut out looks rough.

I kinda wonder if maybe Derek Carr hasn't gotten enough credit for how competent the Saints offense has looked for most of this season.

Kamara and the improved scheme deserve most of that credit, Carr maybe a little but but that guy throws hospital balls constantly which doesn't help.

Rattler prob not great but it's an impossible task to for a rookie QB to play against a good D w/ as you say backups at every position

What did he learn?

Kellen Moore needs to NOT have easy practices if he's going to find his QB.

I've said earlier that I like that this kid learns. I have a major problem with him throwing to the same route in the same spot the very next play and repeating an INT but after that, he really does genuinely obviously learn.

I'm rarely right on young QBs especially since Eli's atrocious rookie year. The only thing I'm right on is "it factor" and learning.

He has my radar up.

Mind you I didn't even have him last year and he's at the end of a big dynasty roster with two clear starters ahead of him so I have about nothing invested and no risk.

Cosell raved about Shough. Raved! He's not often wrong and what he had to say after the praise was that Shough needed some seasoning and wasn't quite ready. He's maybe not getting that time to develop and that's an issue.

I am planning to draft Shough this coming weekend and haven't noticed him once going at his ADP. Definitely after.

What's my investment gonna be? A second or third and a WW pickup? The ROI will be thru the roof so I'm very comfortable with this process.

You would be thrilled if you get a starter where these two are going.
Just stop pretending they're gonna start for your FF team and comparing them to Herbert or Burrow or whoever. They are what they are. Today that's a real good wth draft choice for FF

Do some really think this?

I’ll keep him on my bench in SF but then he shares that bench with Flacco, Winston, hooker and Ty Taylor.

Kinda think the Saints add a veteran of note. I'd be really surprised if they just went with Shough/Rattler/Haener.

Maybe whomever loses the Pickett/Flacco competition? Moore has Pickett ties. Maybe Wentz? Jameis would make sense if NY cuts him (if they view Dart as ready to be the #2 right away) but I don't know if they'd have a reunion with a new staff.

I don't see them bringing in Rodgers, or trading for Cousins, thinking someone how could start, but not necessarily would be handed the job. O'Connell maybe?

Winston back in NO would be great.

Rattler is the Saints best hope for turning this franchise around. He has that 'it' factor that can secure the Saints the number 1 pick in 2026.
I read the first sentence and mouth was open. I read the second and laughter came out the open mouth
Nice play-by-play, just need a color commentary guy.
Now here's a guy that was a little confused at first but stuck with the play and ended up in the endzone of hilarity.

Situation to watch for sure. His relative lack of mobility was a really bad combination behind that banged up OL. Wonder what he took from that experience.

(Every pass over 20 yards with a supposed clean pocket.)

I don't mind most of these misses.
I see an INT and high throw and one too far. The others...my head goes to the WR if any blame. Sometimes just eh well that play didn't work.
"Put it where the WR can get it" is what he's doing quite well.
Some of the non catches are floated and there's not much more he can do. Go get it
