Footballguy
Hey everyone,

Lot of good stuff today, lot of bad stuff, lot of questions. I think we could really put our heads together on some of this stuff but it will take a little effort and some thinking beyond just the numbers. I have some bullet points/questions on some of the games today and I hope those who might have watched them or even gone to the games can weigh in.

Buf/NYJ

C.J.Spiller-You gotta be blind to not see those stats and the injury to Fred Jackson but I question when he started racking these yards. My instinct and advice is if you own him to try and possibly trade or package him while you can ride some gaudy stats when the Jets were ahead by 20+ throughout much of the game. Are you celebrating tonight or are you thinking how you can leverage this to get better? I don't have a magic answer but it deserves some debate.

Mark Sanchez-Well? Looks like we are all fools passing on him so many times. He looks mighty comfy in this offense. Do you trade Sanchez? He had a top10 year last year, when do you give in and accept him as a decent fantasy option?

Stephen Hill-Not 1 but 2 TDs today as a rookie. I think he already was their best WR coming into camp and today did nothing to sway me. Sanchez seems to have a good rapport with him and I could see more good times ahead for them.

Wash/NO

Drew Brees- I thought he looked terrible early, seemed lost without Payton and then he made a lot of owners happy with some late junk points. Are the Skins that good on defense?

Darren Sproles- Not a carry the entire game, late TD really made his stats a lot better. He was 3/16 before the 4th Q...he is a guy I would be looking to trade if possible. He went as high as the 2nd round in drafts.

RG III- He's Superman...not really a question here.

OK, so you get the idea. I need other posters to take 1-2 games, highlight some questions or thoughts you have and let's build on this.

ATL-KC Watched the most of this game.

ATL:

Matt Ryan looked great but 4 defenders were out this week for KC. Usually plays poorly away from ATL but was awesome.

J. Jones stud. Ryan now looking at him primarily near the endzone. Going to be tough to double him though with White & Gonzalez.

Turner is slow. Mustered a pathetic 3 ypc aganst the same D. Sould get worse as the year goes along. He's just about done if not done.

Rodgers faired no better. Looks like this team will pass and pass and pass.

KC:

Cassel started out good. 2 picks derailed their chances.

Jamaal Charles is still the guy in KC. Appears to be back at 1000%.

Where was Baldwin???? Did he forget that week 1 is today?

But Rodgers didn't do much running the ball either although that was not your point.

I didn't read ahead, sorry

Reggie Bush- Lot of touches, Daniel Thomas went down as well with a concussion, might miss time. He looks good but I do question how much he can do in this offense?

Matt Schaub- He looked sharp, he had at least 6-7 drops today by his receivers but I still walk away feeling like he is clearly a QB2 in FF. A solid one but just is not going to need to toss 300/3TD very often with that ground game still churning.

Arian Foster-He really was not all that and a bag of chips between the 20s but Tannehill set him up good with some deep start points late int he 1st half when he did most of his damage. I still need to see Houston against some quality opponents before I would give their OL a stamp of approval. Maybe that is the scary part with Foster...he can do a lot more. And considering he was injured during the week he likely will as the coming weeks unfold.

Andre Johnson- Saw a lot of folks pair him with Julio Jones in recent drafts...talk about some firepower, wow.

Lestar Jean- Could not control the ball as he went out of bounds on a TD target of about 40-50 yds, worth keeping an eye on.

Ugly come from behind win from Detroit

Stafford = throws 3 picks and still gets the win, 32/48 355 yards and only 1 TD to K Smith. He'll be fine escaped with a win. Lions are used to come back wins, would hope they would take a step forward and win from being ahead.

C Johnson - No TD's tonight and he will get his. Little targets in the second half - still 6 for 111 not too bad.

K Smith - nice surprise catching and receiving TD's. Sell High?

Pettigrew - 5 or 77 yards workmanlike, yet dropped an obvious TD pass.

Burleson / T Young - Burleson targeted much more. Disappointment for T Young owners and hopefuls.

Bradford - Pedestrian

S Jackson - typical yards rushing and receiving no TD's

Amendola / Gibson - nothing special to write home about

Same ole sorry ### Rams almost beat Detroit

I don't think the k Smith stat line is a surprise - it's basically what you'll get from him in that offense. the TDs you can't predict but I think it's how he'll be used in that offense. No telling how Leshoure will change that.

Here's another one for ATL/KC - even though he didn't get a carry, McCluster was filling up the stat sheet from the slot and showing some decent moves when he got it. 6/72 with 10 targets, the most targeted player by far--and it wasn't just in garbage time, as Cassel was going to him all game. I think they want him to be another Sproles. He still has WR/RB eligibility in Yahoo, at least, and if he wasn't drafted I think he should be a high priority add for this week. Very respectable guy to have around when the bye weeks come.

Yes people, MOP gave you every bit of the Miami offense in 2 sentences. There is nothing else. Hartline and Bess? C'mon. Hartline should be on ST and Bess should be a #3 slot WR. If Bush goes down, this team will be lucky to ever score an offensive TD.

sThe surprise is that Detroit appeared to be in a little trouble with keeping RB's healthy. I have always liked K Smith and it was nice to see him score twice. Yes, keep an eye out for LeShoure when he comes back, or if they look for a BIG trade later, like for MJD?

Forgot that McCluster info which was interesting.

Jamaal Charles is still the guy in KC. Appears to be back at 1000%.
I don't disagree, although his absence in the passing game versus McCluster and Hillis is a bit concerning. Still early, but something to watch.
KC was playing catch up all game and with a ton of defensive players missing. Atlanta is also decent against the run..I wouldn't take much away regarding KC's run game.

Charles was caught from behind on his lone long run of the game. Take that away and he had a mediocre day and no catches - where he usually excels.

Houston has a solid D, I think Reggie Bush is good this year. Buy Reggie now as he'll be the focal point of that offense as long as he's healthy. Not all Ds will be as good as Houston's.

PHI/CLE

PHI

Vick - 4 picks were horrible even though 1 was tipped in the air. Took way too many hits and made some bad decisions. Still doesn't slide and it resulted in a fumble that the Eagles luckily recovered. Doesn't get rid of the ball either and tries to make too many plays instead of throwing it away. He put up some points today but I would sell high after his first big game of the year.

LeSean - nasty as usual creating plays when nothing is there. he just didn't get enough touches because of Andy Reid and his horrible play calling. Stud

DeSean - looked pretty good making catches over the middle but Vick didn't get him the ball late in the game at all

Maclin - good game ppr or not but got a little banged up on some hits. Finished the game and just missed 100 yards. Still has trouble with ball control sometimes.

Celek - possible starter for some owners but not studly by any stretch

Eagles D - much improved with Ryans in the middle, didn't get the usual sacks but they will come. Looking up for this unit even though it was the youngest offense in the league against them.

Cle

Weeden - looked like a rookie, not much to see here

Trent Richardson - looked good on a few plays showing some burst but the Eagles brought everybody all game and the line didn't help Richardson in any way. It may limit him until they learn some chemistry and show him some holes. Promising player but value this season may be limited with Weeden and young line. Should have some good games but very tough to call. At least he got the majority of the carries and will be the workhorse.

Little - did not look good but has Weeden, value limited with Weeden and that goes for the rest of the receiving corp as well. Gordon probably looked the best of the receivers today.
