Quinn or cassel? (1 Viewer)

In what way is Quinn competition for Cassel? Why did KC not dedicate more energy to finding a serious starting caliber QB? I wouldn't think Quinn to have developed to a point where he's now better than cassel. Is it just me?

When healthy I think Cassel is actually pretty solid. I think with a good run game he can be a good fit in KC. The wheels just fell off with injuries last year.

Don't get me wrong I have respect for cassel but I don't think he'll really play to a high enough level without someone breathing down his neck. Plus I would've rather seen KC make attempts at an upgrade.

Cassel was a product of the system in NE and as a KC fan I have been disappointed so far. I think he can be serviceable, but IMO he is just a mid range guy and probably not enough in this QB driven league to lead KC deep into the playoffs. I am hoping to see some major progress this year in his game. Brady Quinn was a nice addition and an upgrade at our QB2 position. I could see him pushing Cassel and if Cassel struggles, Quinn could be given a chance.

For those that have commented about how they would have liked to see KC upgrade this offseason, I guess my question would be who exactly, besides Manning, would that be?

Matt Cassell has led one team to an 11-5 record and another to the playoffs. Brady Quinn is a journeyman QB. What has Quinn showed you to think he's anything more than a backup?

Dr. Octopus probably could have led that NE team to an 11-5 record.....and KC's trip to the playoffs two years ago was a product of possibly the easiest schedule in the history of the National Football League.....that KC team was not that good (I couldn't even really honestly say they were playoff worthy) and that was proven in the first round when they got dismantled at Arrowhead by Baltimore...Cassel is the definition of serviceable QB....he will keep you in some games.....he will lose you some games.....but very rarely will he be the difference in a game in the positive direction and actually put you on his back and win you some games....KC fan who actually wishes they would have kept Orton.....

I love the above definition of Cassel and agree completely. But as a Bears fan who lives in KC, I can tell you for certain that the definition you use for Cassel is the exact definition that I would use for Orton. They are essentially the same guy to me.

agree completely about Orton-Cassel.....but I gave a slight edge to Orton as I have watched him (live in CO) with the Broncos and thought he was always a little underrated as an actual passer....he threw a nice ball most of the time.....I have seen Cassel have moments/stretches where I was like....WTF was that.....just felt Orton/Bowe/Baldwin would be a little more productive than Cassel/Bowe/Baldwin....

I view Cassel as someone who's not quite a starter and not quite a backup. He's somewhere in between. I would've liked to have seen Orton stay because even though he's not much better than cassel he is better. As far as who else is there besides Manning I thought they would've pursued Flynn to some extent or even Henne. Surely even Campbell would've made cassel more nervous than Quinn.
