**Raiders at Chiefs** Black Friday Edition (-13, 42.5) 3:00 (1 Viewer)

the refs were tripping themselves to give the Chiefs this game; the worst I think there was when the Raiders punted to the .5 yard line and the refs called a penality on the Chiefs... after commercial break the flag was reversed to the Raiders and had to punt again... to the 22.

The Guard tapped him....the Center snapped...the QB wasn't ready. It was a fumble clearly recovered by the Chiefs. There wasn't a whistle blown; blowing the play dead. I don't really think there was anything wrong with the string of events; and if it were any other team in the NFL, there wouldn't be this thought that the refs are in the bag. We saw teams for years whither under the pressure of Brady/Belichik and Foxsboro....why can't we just admit that this Chiefs is just like them?
Ref at the top WAS blowing the whistle and running in before the ball was ever recovered. I don't think it impacted the result and I don't know that they got the actual call wrong, but something was definitely off about how the officials handled it
This was my takeaway as well. The call may very well have been correct, but the Chiefs being awarded the ball because they made a clear recovery after the whistle blew is a really bad look. And I am not one of those people who thinks games are rigged or that there is some conspiracy to always help the Chiefs, but that was just very poorly handled.

I'm not saying there isn't bad officiating, I'm saying blaming the refs for a loss is a loser mentality. The Eagles didn't lose, they overcame bad officiating. That's a winners mentality.

Missed most of the game due to my son’s first hockey game up here in Wisconsin. He played JV today on the one line and ended up with 4 goals and two assists. He also suited up for varsity but didn’t get in. They are pretty stacked. Hopefully he will get some minutes there as he gets more familiar with the guys and the coaches get familiar with him.

A great day.
HUH???

The Raider line was never set for any false start to be called.

Time to move on if you still don't understand the rules.
I think the issue is more like what I stated. The ref WAS running in blowing the play dead BEFORE the recovery. In the end I think the call was correct, the administration was jacked. And given how the players around the ball reacted (they didn't) to the ref trying to stop the play I don't think it actually effected anything. That said, it was a very bad look for the zebras.

Raiders found a way to lose more then KC found a way to win.

We can see the ref running in from the left but can't hear any whistle being blown until after recovery.

I still see posts claiming it was a dead ball foul, which is incorrect. The line needs to be set for a false start to be called, and they were not set at all.

Blaming the refs for getting the call correct seems strange to me.

Good to hear about your son, I have some pretty big news myself, will be firing up an FFA thread

Help from zebras again

Raiders playing their game of the year at this point. Division rivals bringing out the best and this is no exception
Surprised on how soo many still apparently don't understand that most of the time records go in the garbage when division rivals meet.

These games are an entirely different animal.
Are the Panthers a division rival of the Chiefs?
Of course not but the Raiders going into KC w their second string QB, third string RB and a FG kicker that lost his game on a two win season is probably their game of the year. And they have a shot at winning
As a Raiders fan I could not be more over late season pyrrhic victories.

Lose out and hope you draft the right rookie QB.

After that you also hope you don't ruin him with crappy coaching and general dysfunction. But, first things first.

Thank God the refs love the Chiefs.
what did the refs have to do with this one....?....
They(The Stinkin' Refs) huddled up after the play and took a long time but eventually just gave the ball to KC and ended the game where a LVR field goal from about 45 yds out would have won the game for the Raiders but far be it from any of us to suspect anything

1 score games...14 games in a row now for the Chiefs since they lost a 1-score football game, that's some incredible luck.
Reminds me of this scene...
"Queen-Queen-Queen"

It's uncanny how many tight games they've won in a row

JPJ-rookie center was pretty agitated running off the field, think he felt it was a false start on his part or a whistle blowing the play dead, coaches had to calm him down coming off the field
He was lighting the refs up something fierce but that doesn't mean was correct, I'm just saying there was some passion spilling out by the Raiders even if the camera framed it like LVR was OK with the Refs call, I didn't read it that way.

The ref WAS running in blowing the play dead BEFORE the recovery.
This is it. Look at EVERY player on the side nearest that official, NONE of them move.

The issue is that it was correctable. They could have announced they blew the call dead or the league could have intervened. They chose the worse option.

one score games are pretty common place in the NFL anymore.....heck with "some luck" the Jags could be 9-3....

Good time to remind everyone that this “sport” is for entertainment purposes only.

The ref at the top WAS running in. Whether he was blowing the whistle we don’t know but it would be a complete farce to be running in like that and not blowing your whistle.

Whether the players near the ball could hear the whistle is irrelevant. The play is dead when the whistle is blown, there is no burden of proof on whether players heard it.

Let’s say the Raiders had a 33% chance to hit a kick. The refs improved the Chiefs odds of winning by 33% with how they administered this call.

But what refs call or don’t call adjusts odds of EVERY team winning EVERY week. It just isn’t always so obvious.

Consistency would be nice….

Fair enough. Then what do we call it? Is starting out blaming the refs, early and often during a game, "loser mentality preparedness"?

No, blaming a ref for a loss is a loser mentality. Blaming a ref for a bad call during the game is a justified whine.

The week you play

any team that has been scheduled.

You won’t see whining until you’ve watched Philly fans here whine. They even whined last year when Joe took out a thread to say that Philadelphia was good; or at least better than they were playing. They howled.

Aroooooo arooooo arooooo

That’s all you’ll hear Philly fans here do.

I'd say the Philly fans were pretty spot on with the strength of their team last season. We could tell the team wasn't as good as their record.

It’s the way you all whined like Joe was baiting you. He wasn’t. Full stop. The invective was stupid.

Eta* and this, in keeping with almost any discussion about the Eagles with a fan of the Eagles on this board has turned instantly worthless. I’ll let you have the last word.

Check the recent Sirriani thread if you need another example.
Can’t make it up lol

I wonder how many people calling for his firing last year are all over Joe. I can hear them, quotes side by side about firing Sirianni with now excoriating Joe for asking a question, saying that they would fire him if he didn’t get new coordinators and turn it around immediately with the new coordinators . . .

“I said ‘if,’ Joe. I said ‘if!’ He’s a great coach. Who else goes to a Super Bowl and 10-2?! You tell me! Huh?”

Yeah, like if the sun sets in the West.

Eagles fans were right about their team. Full stop. Your edit is simply gaslighting and not worthy of response.

Might be true
But I blame the refs before EVERY game starts

The raiders got what they deserved for not being ready on the ball much earlier in the play clock... I am not blaming the refs for a loss because you never know what could happen after that play... My problem with "that" play is that an official was clearly trying to signal the play dead (arms over his head to stop the clock) after he raised his whistle hand to his mouth (argue if you want that he did or didn't blow the whistle. but a natural assumption of raising your whistle to your mouth then putting your arms over your head to stop the clock would STRONGLY suggest he blew his whistle), He then motioned for a false start (which would be the wrong call... they got the right penalty on the play). The "problem" I have is that "IF' he blew the play down as the evidence suggests, then a fumble recovery could never happen... Chances are Carlson would have missed a 50+ yard FG anyway after the administration of the illegal shift penalty, but we will never know because the opportunity appeared to be stolen from the Raiders.
