Raiders homers, is DHB going to get benched? (1 Viewer)

It would seem like Murphy and Ford as the starting WRs and Zach Miller at TE would be a pretty solid receiving group.

DHB just flat out can't catch and it doesn't seem like he's done anything to earn the WR1 job with OAK. Tom Cable spoke about Jason Campbell "earning" the starting QB job but what has DHB ever shown to "earn" his playing time?

Thoughts? Homer insight?

look how long it took to pull the plug on jamarcus when it was obvious he couldn't play...

i doubt AL gives up on his first rounder that quickly. only hope is that throughout the game that they "rotate" WR more often and have him subtly sit out more often.

No way they bench DHB. He is the starting receiver in the X. Written in stone.

Ford should get more plays at the expense of JLH. Also, Chaz Schilens is due to return as well.

Why would it seem like Ford would be a legit starter? One big game? DHB had one a few weeks ago. Why was Ford's one big game enough to elevate him to starting WR status, but DHB's is ignored? Because of where they were drafted?Murphy? Love him, but he probably has twice as many drops as DHB.Murphy and Ford are both pleasant surprises, Murphy outperformed DHB last year for sure, but really, none of these players have pulled away from the others. If Chaz ever gets healthy, it'll make a muddy situation even worse. Ford might be the next Steve Smith, or the next Frisman Jackson. Chaz might never get healthy, or might never get injured again, and become the #1 WR for this team.DHB went from disaster last year to promising this year. Maybe he continues to develop, maybe he doesn't have the natural hands of a great WR, and never truly becomes a decent WR. He cannot be completely discounted so soon for two reasons: His natural physical gifts, and his work ethic. Seems to be a hard-working kid, and he plays a position that one can get better at with hard work. And this is coming from a Raider fan, that thought passing on Crabtree for DHB was the worst pick in their history. Ford has a long way to go for me to assume he's one of their locks as a starter. He had maybe the best and most clutch performance I have seen by a Raider since the Gannon days, but for every little guy that turns into Steve Smith, there's two dozen that become part-time players/specialist and fade out after a few years. Heck, the Raiders have one on the roster now, Higgins, who had some moments his first year or two, and has done nothing since. With Schilens, DHB, Murphy, and Ford, the Raiders have some young guys that have all shown promise. With four young guys like that, history says at least two will probably never wind up being very good. I doubt anyone, Raider fan or not, can make a very compelling argument for any one guy to emerge--or to fail.
