I agree with this....but someone with Green's recent medical history, you gotta be wondering if it is safe for him to be on the field at all. One more big hit is all it will take for Green and I hope that day does not come. It's scary watching him.The Rams did look a little better. They made a game of it in the first half.
Absolutely but, the line play was better, Holt seemed like Holt, Jackson seemed like Jackson....even the D looked better. Maybe the team doesn't have confidence in Bulger and it's just something they won't say publicly? That was a solid Bills D that they looked good against. Maybe it was if Bulger can lose his job, we can too so they played a bit harder? I'd leave Green in if I'm Haslett.If it means you're waiting for an impending troublesome worrisome hit, well then Green shouldn't be in the NFL. I'm not sure you can think that way about it and do well on the field, warrior mentality and all. Maybe it'll do Bulger some good to get a different perspective

Green actually hit some decent throws and it opened things up a bit for Jackson. Once they got behind and the heat was on, their offense stumbled trying to play catchup. Whoever the announcer was doing the game was dead wrong when he said that Bulger never had a chance because the running game couldn't get going. Well, it only took Green a few completed passes and the offense looked night and day to when Bulger was in there. Jackson had some room to run and had 99 yards in the first half. No threat of pass=no room to run. Bulger looked gunshy and something isn't right with him.

This move has to help Holt. Linehan was determined to remove any semblence of "The Greatest Show on Turf" when he took over. The play calling got predictable and lacked creativity. Even though Haslett is a defensive guy, I expect him to open it up more, although his play calling was rather predictable with the Saints.

Bulger owner in our league panicked last weekend and dropped him. I picked him up once I heard Sjax calling out Linehan as I knew it was only a matter of time until the coach was fired and Bulger was put back in the starting lineup.Any other leagues where the Bulger owner cut him outright?

same thing here. owner cut him when the news about the benching broke. I grabbed him before the games Sunday.

I cut him. I was quite sure he was going to start again this year, sooner rather than later, but I needed roster space. I have Warner and Eli, and there are a couple of serviceable QBs on the wire, so Bulger became expendable.
The Rams stink, but there is hope.... they were in the lead entering the 4th quarter this week, 14-13, before imploding in the 4th quarter. In week two, they hung tough against the Giants, down 13-6 at the half and 20-13 with less than 11 minutes left in the game before imploding.
Still looking at a likely top 3 pick, though.

That's why Linehan's replacement has to come from within, and that's why defensive coordinator Jim Haslett is the only logical choice. And before you all start groaning, hear me out. This is why Haslett makes the most sense:
First and foremost, the players will respond to him. I took a rather unscientific poll of many of the players in that locker room about Linehan's departure and Haslett's potential promotion and got nothing but positive responses. Haslett's a hard-nosed, high-energy guy (that's a nice way of saying he'll get in your face all day 'til Sunday).
Secondly, he has a track record as a relief specialist. In his first year as a head coach in 2000, he turned around the New Orleans Saints from a 3-13 record in 1999 to a 10-6 record and the NFC West title. He's a former NFL coach of the year. And even though he was fired after six years in New Orleans with an overall losing record (45-51), by all accounts his finest coaching hour might have been his last year there when the Saints finished 3-13 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Haslett held that team together under impossible circumstances when the team was relocated to San Antonio, where the Saints played, lived and practiced in awful conditions.

The Rams wanted Jake Long. Maybe Parcells was looking over Linehan's shoulder.

I think this is very good news for Rams fantasy players. Saunders is a coordinator, not a head coach, and the team really doesn't need to deal with all the issues of him learning to be a head coach. Now he can focus on the offense, and not have to worry about the differences between his preferred style of offense and Linehan's. Haslett also brings experience, which may be an immediate boost for a team where Linehan was still learning the job of being a head coach. Just knowing all the little things about dealing with the media, scheduling activities, and so on, may make Haslett's second chance a good one. Plus, there's very little pressure on the team right now, which will make them very dangerous in their soft second half schedule. You might want to wait a week or two to go after Jackson, but he should be huge starting with the New England game.
If that is true, that is a good sign. I am not sure how much credit should be given to Linehan on that though. I honestly just don't know how involved he would be in making those decisions. Regardless, I doubt very much Parcells was looking over Linehan's shoulder. And, regardless, they have to do more than to "want" to improve their OLine. They have to actually do it.J R said:

I cut him 2 weeks ago before he got benched. I was kinda hoping someone would scoop him up and drop some other rosterable QB so I could then scoop that guy up. Nobody has bitten on my Bulger waiver wire bait yet. No I find myself with the Derek Anderson dilema. It's time to cut bait with him as well. I can pick Bulger back up if I want, but somebody actually gave up on Matt Schaub. Yup, Bulger owner in my league cut him and I dropped Collins and picked him up. I'll take Bulger's upside for my QB3. I disagree. I feel the offense at least has something to work with. Between Bulger, Holt, Jackson, they shouldn't be THAT bad on offense. St. Louis just seems to have been unable to find good defensive personnel for the most part. Hopefully Long is a start in the right direction.nzranger said:
Haslett should take his fair share of the blame for that. He's the one who insists on getting run over with a small lineup, with Witherspoon inside and drafting small CBs like Hill and Wade, who don't seem to be any good.

That's a good question - I wondered about that myself. But I haven't seen the Rams play this year. They don't have much of a choice on their current roster though. I think Brandon Gorin was their #3 OT in camp. He's out for the season now, and I can't imagine anyone behind Gorin on the depth chart being any good.

Because........I only saw one game but in it Bulger looked horrible, even given the other weaknesses on the team, and I've heard a lot of people say that's been the case most of the year so far. Plus the Saints were a train wreck when he coached them (outside of his first season). He is actually a worse coach than Linehan in my opinion but I don't know what the other options were to be in the interim coach (Saunders, I guess). Things are only going to get uglier.

I think Saunders would have been a better choice. Haslett pretty much blamed the mess in New Orleans on everyone else after he left. I don't know who he thinks is to blame for the Rams' defense.Honestly, it doesn't matter who coaches this team. Their line play is awful on both sides of the ball. They don't have any strengths on defense. I pity Bulger, since he's just destined for another injury from being a human piñata.
