Big shout to all of the racers this weekend, and to
tri-man in particular, as he pursues his 2014 BQ.
After days/weeks of wrangling, I've pretty much decided against doing the marathon this weekend. Temps will be mid-60s at the start, low-70s at the finish. That alone would be do-able, but with dew points also in the 60s, there's just no way. Should be fine for a skinny due like
tri-man, but for a big, heavy sweater like me, that humidity would be the death of me. I get this big hemi going, and it gets hot in a hurry; when the air is saturated like that, the sweat can't evaporate, I can't cool myself, and I overheat. Game over.
I'll keep an eye on the weather for the Erie Marathon on the 15th, and if that doesn't work out, I'll consider reneging on my pacing job and racing Fox Cities on the 22nd instead. If it's too hot at Fox Cities or if that ends up being too late for Boston, then I guess it's just not meant to be. Que sera, sera.
So now I'll probably run 10-12 miles on Saturday morning and then try to do one more 20-miler on Monday or Tuesday morning when it's supposed to be cooler. Then back to weather watching...
