Ran a 10k in June (6 Viewers)

Last minute questions about T1 & the bike. It looks like rain for tomorrow, nothing heavy until the afternoon, but it'll be wet. How far can I go and need I go to cover the bike in the transition area? Can I bring a large tarp and cover the entire bike & my transition mat? It'd seem like this would make a mess with everyone doing the same. Guessing I can't, I am thinking about halving trash bags to cover the seat/pedal area & another for the bars. Also, would I still want to wear my glasses, even if I don't need them to block the sun? Again, guessing they me even more vital if its raining to keep my eyes from getting pelted with rain. For the other two part, no worries about the rain. In the water I'm wet anyway (except that I have darker goggles) and, with no hair to weight me down, I like running in the rain.
2Young: for a sprint, I wouldn't wear sunglasses at all if it isn't going to be sunny. Regarding covering your bike; I'd just focus on your seat, and would loosely put a plastic bag over it. Depending on how early you have to set up your transition area, I'd also cover the rest during that time, but would take it off (except bag on saddle), when they kick you out of the area (last second). Your bike can handle a half hour of sprinkles.
Thanks, I was thinking I'd need the glasses to keep for getting dinged in the eyes with bugs, etc.On another note, please stop posting here and go get lots of water, propane for the grill, dry ice, tarps in case you have to do temp repairs to the roof, etc. Seriously, the media is not being dramatic, Ike is real big & real bad.
Definately wear shades, just not dark ones. Rain in the eyes at 25 mph isn't a pleasant feeling.
 
I already have my trainer down from the attic.

Our friends' condo is right on the Chesapeake Bay, just off the eastern shore line, so I decided to go for an ocean swim yesterday ...just because. Swam 20 minutes in some pretty hard currents (waves up to about 2 feet breaking at times). Good stuff, but man, it just knocked the heck outta me! 4 easy miles running today. 5K in the morning.
 
A lot of tri-stuff in here lately. Makes me wish I could swim so I could even consider doing one someday. And makes me wish my new bike, that I just bought in July, hadn't been stolen last week.

Knocked out about 8 miles last weekend, with a good portion of it on the trails. I did warm up on some flat stuff for longer than usual, normally it's 1 mile to the fire road and up, up I go, that day I did 2.5 miles before I hit that, and I think it definitely helped me keep my heart rate under control by being nice and warm before it got tough.

Tough week this week, nothing on Monday-Wednesday as I was working a convention in San Francisco, pulling days of leaving the house at 5:30 AM and getting home at 10-11:00 after going out with clients and co-workers.

Managed to get out yesterday and today at 6:00 AM to get 4 and 3.5 miles in, and will get in 8+ miles on Sunday.

I just registered for the Bridge to Bridge 12K on 10/5, a repeat of my first ever race last year. I finished that in 1:08:31, which at 9:11 miles is pretty close to the pace I was at for the 1/2. That's going to make it tough to improve upon too much, I think. Probably too late to get much faster now, but I did this AM include some fartleks towards the end, just 3-4 short bursts, but at sub 8:00 paces. So I'm going to wait until the week before to come up with my goal, but hopefully I'll be in a position to get that time down a bit.

 
We're getting ready to hunker down for the evening. The wind is starting to pick up, but we shouldn't get the big stuff until the middle of the nite toward morning. Our kiddos are having a "campout" in our room and we'll all hopefully have an uneventful evening :fingerscrossed:

They had a former marine named Ed at the race as honorary starter and such. He lost a leg at Tikrit a few years ago. Really nice young guy - it was a real honor to meet him. After the race, he was handing out the awards and drawing raffle tickets. At one point, he went through several numbers trying to get a match for the raffle. Ed: "I wish it had been this hard to find the RPGs in Iraq." I'd love to come back next year to visit friends, race again, and do this as a fundraiser for the Marine support program.

GREAT race Tri-Man!!!! You certainly have :06 in you in the future to break the 21 minute barrier. We're doing alright down here. Winds are just now calming down. About an hour ago they were at 45 mph, with lots of rain. We beat Ike! I might actually be able to get a run in tomorrow! This morning is shot, as the rum started flowing at 7am, and after a long night, I'm going to need a good long nap soon.

Meh. :excited: Just kidding, dude. Nice run. :excited: Like I've said before, 5Ks are tough. IMHO, if you don't feel like puking pretty much all the way through, then you're not running hard enough. I know a lot of marathoners who HATE running 5Ks. They honestly prefer 26.2 miles to 3.1. No joke.

RS, SFBayDuck, glad to see you guys getting back on the proverbial horse. I had a friend visiting from out of town this weekend, so the last couple of nights were seriously loooong.....

Did an easy 4 miles yesterday to run off my hangover and a hilly 7.5 this morning. Total about 46 miles for the week. Next weekend is my half marathon.

Anybody hear anything from 2Young??

Tri-Man GREAT RACE, Congrats. PSL, hopefully if you don't have power now, you will soon to get back here.

Triathlon Race Report – 500M Swim – 20K Bike – 5K Run. All in all, it was an awesome experience (due in great part to all the help in prep from PSL, EF & Tri-Man :wall: ), but man could it have been better. AND, nobody told me you race at your age at the end of the season. It sucked seeing 40 next to my name when I am not quite there yet. Here is how it broke down:

I finished in 1:21:45, 21st out of 54 men, 27th out of 100 total racers, 5th in my age group. Breakdown of times:

Swim: 10:47 4th in age group.

T1: 3:35

Bike: 42:15, 17.6 MPH 6th in age group (see below for details).

T2: :35 :kicksrock:

Run: 25:03 8:04 Min/miles 4th in age group.

For starters, it was an absolutely beautiful venue on Tawas Bay, Lake Huron. It rained for most of the day, but it was still very nice scenery all around. Triathletes just might be cooler & nicer than runners pre/post and in race. The Sprint men went last after the 70.3/Half Iron Man & The Olympic events so I had plenty of time to watch these amazing athletes go. We went off right at 9:00am. I was about 4 rows back in the mess of 54 men in about chest deep water. We had about 40 yards before the right turn and then just a long left, short left and back to the chute. The horn went and when I went to turn at the 1st buoy I think I was leading the pack on the inside. I made of the mistake of having a short moment of “wow, what the heck am I doing out front”. I then learned that it didn’t matter and got completely swam over by 2 guys and just about drove to the bottom as I touched sand on my next stroke. I popped back up, spit out the water and queued in my head to “draft” someone. I did and it was awesome. I’ll bet I got 75 to 100 yards of just easy strokes. Unfortunately, the guy I was drafting decided to flop to his back to get some air and I cranked him right in the middle of his chest (I tried to figure out who he was after to apologize, ‘cuz it was a huge smack). Karma got back for over-drafting, when I turned for home I got kicked in the chin, drank about 3 gallons of water and was stunned for a few seconds. I had to roll to my back to get a few good breaths, but got back after it to finish. I would have had a much better time, but failed to remember to dolphin swim idea Tri-Man gave and was slow coming out of the water.

My time doesn’t show it, but T1 went real well. I got to my mat, squirted my toes and, thanks to Pam Spray on my calves, got out of the wet suit real fast.

On the bike, I headed out quick as was quite comfortable. Between miles 3 & 5 it was a straight and gradual climb. I was maintaining a 20 MPH pace even with the uphill and passed quite a few of the sprint guys. Just as the road leveled off I felt a tightening in my left calf. I tried to stretch it on the pedal and it quickly locked up. Not like a slight cramp, it locked with a ripple between the muscles. I got the bike in the gravel on the road so I didn’t take anyone out and tried to stretch it out. It took me, I am guessing, 4 to 5 minutes to get it out and back on the bike. Making it far worse, my buddy I was there with passed me. Back on the bike, I knew if I could just get back to the downhill I would be OK. I had also taped 4 Cliff Bloks on my stem depending on what I needed. Thank God one of them was a triple salt Margarita Blok, which I took with about ½ of my bottle of water. Both calves were now hurting bad, but with the downhill I was at about 25 MPH. Pulling in to T2 I was ###### about my calf, the time I lost and that I was behind my buddy so I ran my bike to my spot, dropped the helmet & glasses quick, grabbed the other Garmin and was in and out in 35 seconds.

I made it a whole 200 yards or so until I started cramping BAD again. I had to stop and stretch not just my calves, but my thighs that decided to join in and cramp too. This was only a few seconds and, for a short time I was able to run 7:30s. I am not disappointed in running 8s based on how bad my legs felt, but wish I had just a little more left in my legs as I was less than 2 minutes behind my buddy who GOT 3RD PLACE! I still finished strong as was amazed a bit as I was not really out of breath, just leg fatigued.

Bottom line, I can’t wait the next one. I got a real good education on what I need to work on and also learned that buying a new bike 2 weeks before the event was a stupid idea as my legs weren’t acclimated to it yet. I also realized I am a darn good swimmer and can tweak a few things to gain some time here next time. Best part of the whole thing was having my kids & my wife cheering me at the start and end of each part. I always felt my kids were proud of my running, but could sense this took it to a whole new level. Post event party was cool too. I won a 2lb jug of Heed (the guy across the table won a swim analysis with DVD, LUCKY). Folks there were raving about, I have never heard of it, but am going to give it a shot. I am still sore today, so I think I am going to take a few days off before getting after it again.

Fantastic stuff, baldy! Congrats on a great race and sounds like great experience. I've never been close to top 5 in my age group- so a big :bow: to you. Nice! Especially considering the time lost to your cramping....

A couple of thoughts-

Cramping... I'm going to guess this is as much about your swim technique as anything else (ie, the new bike... although that probalby didn't help). The technique I learned from my TnT and IM coaches was the same- essentially no kick at all. Just enough to rotate your body with each stroke- imagine wearing flip-flops and flicking one off your foot- that's about the extent of the kick. Again at a guess- but your cramping sounds like overwork/excitement on the kicking part of the swim... or am I way off base there?

Or... were you in an easy gear the first few miles on the bike? and spinning with high RPMs? or cranking away in a hard gear?

Anyways- it sounds like you did a great job with your training, fitness-wise. You'll get more used to the bike once you put in some miles, which will help with your running too (being used to the bike, that is).

There's a 1/2 IM with spots available just outside NYC in a couple of weeks- you're ready!... well... seriously though- any thoughts for what's next?

 
re: cramping, part deux.... what was your nutrition the days before the race? How about the night before and the morning of? Were you peeing clear from all the liquid intake? Extra salt on the food the day before? Adequate caloric and electrolyte intake the morning of?

 
some more... re: swim karma- it's a big understood that people are going to run you over and that you're going to run them over. Karmic- zero-sum-gain/loss. No need for apologies at all. Even unreciprocated drafting is ok (especially for a shorter swim)... and how do you know there were'nt people drafting behind you too?

 
EF, I used little to no kick, except to "rudder" myself. I watched about 10 YouTube clips on Tri swimming and took this to heart in my training. However, I did have a 30 to 40 yeard sprint over sand to grass to get to the transition area so this may have hurt me a bit. Also, I trained on the old bike with a ton of gear, but used less on the new bike as a comfort thing for me. I think this is what caused it. I also think I may have over-hydrated the day and night before and depleated to many salts. The Blok saved me or I might just still be walking back right now.

As for next, I have at least 3 sprints pick for next year (I want hardware bad). We are, for sure, heading back for this event. If I can up the swimming and get better on the bike, I may go for the olympic. Taking a lead from PSL, my kids want to do a sprint relay with me doing the swim, my son doing the bike and my daughter doing the run.

One more thing for all I forgot to add in my race report, I would have DOMINATED the "Mini-Me" Division if they had one!!!!

:kicksrock: Too much hydrating... interesting. Sounds likely, especially if you didn't salt your food the day before.

Running on the sand... hmmm- could be that too. Right or wrong, I take my run from the swim-end to T1 pretty slowly.

And new bike... defnitly best to race what you train- this makes sense too as a cramp-inducer.

And incredible to hear about your family's excitement about this- I'm genuinely envious (the wife gave up on coming to my races after I proposed... whoops- she came to NYC Marathon with our new son last fall- seeing my 4mo old recognize me as I ran out of the crowds and bust a huge ear-to-ear grin made the whole race worthwhile).

The most common deficiency wasn't calcium or potassium like many would guess, but magnesium. They suggested Rolaids because Rolaids has both calcium and magnesium, whereas Tums only has calcium. I like the fact that Rolaids covers you both ways."
I've also been hydrating an hour and a half pre-race (10 oz) which seems to be helping as well. Having your family at the finish line is as good as it gets! Great, great, great to hear!!!!!

Crap, standing up on the bike would have done the same thing as stretching. this didn't even enter my mind!!!!!Are you and the family OK? I have been getting reports since about 5am Saturday and they didn't sound good.

We're more than fine. Some branches down, and a miniature lake/pond in both our front and back yards. We never lost electricity (many in our area did), lost tv for only a few hours, had no damage, and most importantly no injuries (those just east and/or south of us had very different fates = less than 30 miles each way). We were truly very lucky. I got a run (7 miler) in this morning, but it was 77 degrees w/ 96% humidity = that was much more difficult to get through then the storm.

So neat to hear of the family's involvement. With the tri's now in your fitness arsenal, the coming years as your kids grow will be a lot of fun and satisfaction.

gruecd, you're right about the 5K feeling - it's running on the edge the whole time. I tried different things mentally (including thoughts of 2Young's race), but I need to just stay focused and analytical on the race at hand. I finished the vacation with another, calmer 20 minute ocean swim, which felt fantastic (but the school of dolphins passed right through my swim area on a different day).

K-Funk ...sorry about being presumptuous. Maybe we can build a full FBG (and "G") team next year.

I'm still learning how to cope with cramping, but have had some success lately. Stretching while on the bike is a great way to stay loose; stand every once in a while, and point heels to the ground. Another trick that is supposed to help (I think it's helping me) is Rolaids [Linky]:

"I read about a study of cramping during the Hotter'n Hell Hundred in Texas. They took blood samples of riders that cramped and riders that didn't. The most common deficiency wasn't calcium or potassium like many would guess, but magnesium. They suggested Rolaids because Rolaids has both calcium and magnesium, whereas Tums only has calcium. I like the fact that Rolaids covers you both ways."
I've also been hydrating an hour and a half pre-race (10 oz) which seems to be helping as well. Having your family at the finish line is as good as it gets! Great, great, great to hear!!!!!
Crap, standing up on the bike would have done the same thing as stretching. this didn't even enter my mind!!!!!Are you and the family OK? I have been getting reports since about 5am Saturday and they didn't sound good.

Tri-Man - I was thinking about you Saturday when I heard the weather report for the VA coastline. That must have been brutal. Well done on the time and finish!

I missed out on a group ride Sunday. I woke up a little later than usual and checked a local ride board, but had missed the guys by half an hour. The one day they move the ride time up. :goodposting: Oh well, I've been getting in good spin-bike training, building strength.

 
5K report! Finished in 21:06 (about 6:48/mile) ...6:30, 6:55, 6:50 miles. Took first in my age group

Triathlon Race Report – 500M Swim – 20K Bike – 5K Run. All in all, it was an awesome experience (due in great part to all the help in prep from PSL, EF & Tri-Man :mellow: ), but man could it have been better. AND, nobody told me you race at your age at the end of the season. It sucked seeing 40 next to my name when I am not quite there yet. Here is how it broke down:

I finished in 1:21:45, 21st out of 54 men, 27th out of 100 total racers, 5th in my age group. Breakdown of times:

Swim: 10:47 4th in age group.

T1: 3:35

Bike: 42:15, 17.6 MPH 6th in age group (see below for details).

T2: :35 :unsure:

Run: 25:03 8:04 Min/miles 4th in age group.

Bottom line, I can’t wait the next one.

:wub: Wow, just wow.As for me, got 8.5 in on Sunday, with a nice middle 4+ mile section of trails. Was a little slow, but kept chugging the whole time. On the way back down the fire road passed a kid wearing Oregon Duck shorts....gave the obligatory "Go Ducks" and we chatted a bit coming down the hill, he's heading up to Eugene in a week and will be running club cross country. I kept up with him for about 1/2 mile, only because he just got back from a month in Greece and was way out of shape, and then I couldn't keep up anymore. But it was like an unplanned fartlek in the middle of my long run.

Up tomorrow morning at 5:45 to get 4 miles in, I want to push the pace a little for at least the middle 2.5 miles or so. Need to find some speed somewhere........

Less than six weeks til the Fall 50, GB! I'll switch to a strong focus on mid-distances, now. No more speed work for the season (yeah!), and less cross-training. Oh, and I'll practice my :lmao: for the post-race bash.
Here's the tentative plan, guys. Between me and tri-man, one of us does legs 1, 5, and 9 (12.6 miles total), and the other does 2, 6, and 10 (14.6). RS and Tim can determine who wants to do 3 & 8 (11.3) and who wants to go on "short rest" and run 4 & 7 (11.5).Take a look at the leg descriptions and leg maps, and LMK what you guys think.

It's been a while since I've checked in here.

Lots of triathletes doing some very impressive stuff. If they let you use a boat for the swimming or maybe let me ride on Michael Phelps' back I'd consider it.

But for now I'll stick to training for my first marathon.

I'm running the Philly Distance Run on Sunday and am looking forward to seeing how all of these extra marathon training miles will (hopefullly) improve my half marathon time from last year (1:35)

Then its off to the Linc for 7 hours of tailgating :lmao: before watching the Steelers kick the #### out of the Eagles in person! :D

It wasn't the awesomeness of his nudity that caused the problem, however. The problem was that his uncovered unit dragged across the entire campus, resulting in thousands of dollars of sidewalk repairs. On a related note, this is why Tri--Man can only swim in the diving section of the local pool. In the early days of this fledgling country, members of the military were honored that Tri-Man could literally "throw it over his shoulder like a Continental Soldier."

The rules say you can do back-to-back legs, so if that's agreeable, here's my analysis. fwiwI took the four shortest legs, and paired them up 1/4 and 2/3 (these are rankings based on the length of the legs, not leg numbers). This resulted in two "legs" similar in length to the other six legs (each 7.8, just slightly longer than the longest regular leg). I then listed the eight legs in order, and paired them up 1/8, 2/7, 3/6, and 4/5 (again, rankings), and so each of us will run two "legs" each.

Legs 1+5+9 = 12.6, with 18.1 and 10.3 miles of rest between

Legs 3+6+7 = 13.0, with 12.3 and 0 rest

Legs 4+10 = 12.9, with 21.7 rest

Legs 2+8 = 11.5, with 25.3 rest

* length of rest time depends on the pace run during the rest legs

Legs 1 and 5 are the same length, so optionally the first two groups could be 1+6+7=12.6 and 3+5+9=13.0, or 5+6+7=12.6 and 1+3+9=13.0. The first of these options might be ok, but it only has 7.5 rest between 3 and 5. I'd eliminate the last group, as 5+6+7 would be a LONG leg to run; unless of course someone is up for a near-half-marathon. lol

Legs 2 and 10 are the same length, so they could be flip-flopped, but that would result in 2+4 and 8+10, which only have one leg between for a short rest (especially considering leg 9 = 3mi).

We'd still have the short total, 11.5, but the 14.6 in Gruecd's plan is shortened a bit. Tho, 11.5 isn't that far out of whack, only 1.5 short of the longest at 13.0.

Whatcha think?

We also need to discuss our support vehicle(s). I'll likely drag my wife along (she loves cheering for me, don't you honey? :rolleyes: ), so we can carry eight, perhaps a couple more sitting in the back or strapped to the roof rack. However, after being in Minnesota for a month now, I don't think she knows her way around all that much (unless she drives the same route every time), so she might end up driving y'all out into Lake Michigan while I'm running my legs. lol Well, with sufficient maps and navigators, she should be fine. :shrug:

It rained for most of the day, but it was still very nice scenery all around. Triathletes just might be cooler & nicer than runners pre/post and in race. The Sprint men went last after the 70.3/Half Iron Man & The Olympic events so I had plenty of time to watch these amazing athletes go. We went off right at 9:00am. I was about 4 rows back in the mess of 54 men in about chest deep water. We had about 40 yards before the right turn and then just a long left, short left and back to the chute. The horn went and when I went to turn at the 1st buoy I think I was leading the pack on the inside. I made of the mistake of having a short moment of “wow, what the heck am I doing out front”. I then learned that it didn’t matter and got completely swam over by 2 guys and just about drove to the bottom as I touched sand on my next stroke. I popped back up, spit out the water and queued in my head to “draft” someone. I did and it was awesome. I’ll bet I got 75 to 100 yards of just easy strokes. Unfortunately, the guy I was drafting decided to flop to his back to get some air and I cranked him right in the middle of his chest (I tried to figure out who he was after to apologize, ‘cuz it was a huge smack). Karma got back for over-drafting, when I turned for home I got kicked in the chin, drank about 3 gallons of water and was stunned for a few seconds. I had to roll to my back to get a few good breaths, but got back after it to finish. I would have had a much better time, but failed to remember to dolphin swim idea Tri-Man gave and was slow coming out of the water.My time doesn’t show it, but T1 went real well. I got to my mat, squirted my toes and, thanks to Pam Spray on my calves, got out of the wet suit real fast.On the bike, I headed out quick as was quite comfortable. Between miles 3 & 5 it was a straight and gradual climb. I was maintaining a 20 MPH pace even with the uphill and passed quite a few of the sprint guys. Just as the road leveled off I felt a tightening in my left calf. I tried to stretch it on the pedal and it quickly locked up. Not like a slight cramp, it locked with a ripple between the muscles. I got the bike in the gravel on the road so I didn’t take anyone out and tried to stretch it out. It took me, I am guessing, 4 to 5 minutes to get it out and back on the bike. Making it far worse, my buddy I was there with passed me. Back on the bike, I knew if I could just get back to the downhill I would be OK. I had also taped 4 Cliff Bloks on my stem depending on what I needed. Thank God one of them was a triple salt Margarita Blok, which I took with about ½ of my bottle of water. Both calves were now hurting bad, but with the downhill I was at about 25 MPH. Pulling in to T2 I was ###### about my calf, the time I lost and that I was behind my buddy so I ran my bike to my spot, dropped the helmet & glasses quick, grabbed the other Garmin and was in and out in 35 seconds.I made it a whole 200 yards or so until I started cramping BAD again. I had to stop and stretch not just my calves, but my thighs that decided to join in and cramp too. This was only a few seconds and, for a short time I was able to run 7:30s. I am not disappointed in running 8s based on how bad my legs felt, but wish I had just a little more left in my legs as I was less than 2 minutes behind my buddy who GOT 3RD PLACE! I still finished strong as was amazed a bit as I was not really out of breath, just leg fatigued.Bottom line, I can’t wait the next one. I got a real good education on what I need to work on and also learned that buying a new bike 2 weeks before the event was a stupid idea as my legs weren’t acclimated to it yet. I also realized I am a darn good swimmer and can tweak a few things to gain some time here next time. Best part of the whole thing was having my kids & my wife cheering me at the start and end of each part. I always felt my kids were proud of my running, but could sense this took it to a whole new level. Post event party was cool too. I won a 2lb jug of Heed (the guy across the table won a swim analysis with DVD, LUCKY). Folks there were raving about, I have never heard of it, but am going to give it a shot. I am still sore today, so I think I am going to take a few days off before getting after it again.

Fall 50: As important as the distances are the hills - legs 2 (5.4 mi) and 3 (5.2 mi) are the most extreme with the elevations. Part of our consideration should be who can best run/survive hills. And should we take this to email? We'll drive everyone else nuts with all of this.

I'd like to line up Peter Griffin and gruecd for a race. That'd be a good battle at any number of distances!

Oh, and 6 miles this morning. I ran part of it on a road that divides the neighborhood from the partially flooded forest preserve across the street. The road was closed due to the water levels. At one quiet point, with no cars around, two deer ran out of the preserve and loped down a side street of the neighborhood. My "I Am Legend"/Will Smith moment of zen.

:lmao: I was amazed at how good most of you were getting around at the dinner, including a 66-year-old guy sitting near me at dinner. It was a struggle for me not to limp. Although, there were a couple of guys walking like Frankenstein.On a realted note, I know you studs went off an hour before us amatures, but did you get to check out the 23-year-old twins in "boy short" suits that did the sprint" :lmao: (crosses fingers they are not realted to you in any way).

Fall 50: RS, at first glance I like your thinking. I'm thinking Tim will probably be best suited for legs #4 & 10, since the terrain is relatively easy, and there's probably 3 hours of rest in between. The rest of us just need to decide how we want to divvy up the other combinations. How do you guys feel about hills?

If you are talking about "twins" that were contained in one sports bra, then yes. If you mean actual twins, then no.

The tall brunette in the short shorts and sports bra before the event was fantastic. I was disappointed later in the day when she was wearing a tri top.

Otherwise, I didn't see much eye candy. My vision was blurred too much by the pain. :lol:

That's one of the several things that ticks me off about the race director (3D). They never have event photogs. All the other directors in the area have them. This was the best event that 3D did all year though. I've pretty much sworn them off for future races. I'm going to have to stick to Elite Endeavors and some of the other smaller guys.
