Sooo, @SFBayDuck: How's the weather out there?
Snow, rain, sun, rain, clouds. That's today so far. Had a break this weekend to get in a hike in.
But enough about Oregon weather...isn't there a little marathon coming up next Monday? Haven't been in here in a while, who's running?
And @gruecd, did you do the R2R2R or are planning it? Billy Yang just released a video on that, haven't watched it yet but his stuff is usually pretty awesome.
I'd been planning on doing it on April 2, but due to a lingering foot injury, I ended up postponing it. So now I'm tentatively planning on December 3. Booked an Airbnb in Williams last week.
T&PBtw, taper madness sucks.
I don't mean for me. I mean for people that live with people that are tapering.
"Is it that time of your cycle?" has taken on a whole new meaning.tri-man 47 said:T&P
Hey, 10K peeps! I’ve been a long time lurker and looking to get into this running thing. Where should I start?
I bet your neighbor thinks the grass really is greener on the other side.

All the good stuff is in the first 100 pages of this thread. I'd start there.Hey, 10K peeps! I’ve been a long time lurker and looking to get into this running thing. Where should I start?
I've started a new program called the Half Marathon to Couch plan. Let me know if you need any details.Hey, 10K peeps! I’ve been a long time lurker and looking to get into this running thing. Where should I start?
This is pretty similar to what I’ve been doing. Surgery was 20 days ago. The second I started being able to work out, I got sick and was in bed for an entire week. Now, here I am with no physical activity in 3 weeks and zero energy/desire to change. This has to be the first time since I picked up running that I haven’t thought about running. Don’t want to run. Don’t need to run. Could care less about running. I don’t know how to feel about it.I've started a new program called the Half Marathon to Couch plan. Let me know if you need any details.
How's the knee feeling? This is pretty similar to what I’ve been doing. Surgery was 20 days ago. The second I started being able to work out, I got sick and was in bed for an entire week. As I get ready to plan my FBG-10K southern tour prior to an Orlando conference from May 23-26, I was hoping to loop south and catch dinner with you and the mrs. on the 22nd. Now I'm not so sure I want some lethargic fatty stealing my dessert ...This is pretty similar to what I’ve been doing. Surgery was 20 days ago. It feels amazing. No clue when I can start running again, but like I said, I’m not too concerned about that right now. How's the knee feeling?
I assume you are going through rehab on your knee? This is pretty similar to what I’ve been doing. Surgery was 20 days ago. Not even sure I'd fit in a cannon right now.I assume you are going through rehab on your knee?
I know when I tore my ACL 25 years once I got the all clear to run it was like I was shot out of a cannon because I couldn't for so long. I'll bet the same happens to you.
Consider it a test run for the Poland trip. Nothing new on travel day.Flying out to Boston tomorrow. The preparation involved in traveling with a toddler is far and away more stressful than the thought of running 26.2 miles. Not even close.
@bushdocda one of my buddies had a conflict, so I am now running Richmond. I registered this morning.Philly isn't a bad option either as a fallback, plus it gives you an extra week or 2 to train/recover. I'll be running Philly this year.I probably will drop a Nov race entry too (Harrisburg or Richmond) as a fallback.
I’ll look into it more, Harrisburg logistics so easy with my folks house nearby but all other aspects of Richmond pwn, deferral looks doable up until end October so I’ll prob register Richmond.@bushdocda one of my buddies had a conflict, so I am now running Richmond. I registered this morning.
That’s what we did last time and we’ll probably do the same this time. You recommend staying Friday and Saturday leave Sunday?
Yes. Similar to normal times.Boston peeps: Are they back to the normal logistics? Early busses to the high school; strict corrals and waves? And who all is running again?
I will NOT be running Boston this time.Boston peeps: Are they back to the normal logistics? Early busses to the high school; strict corrals and waves? And who all is running again?
Bummed that you and @gruecd are not in tip-top race conditions. With a temp around 50 degrees and very moderate winds, it should be a great day for racing. I can't wait to see how mrs. @gianmarco does!!I believe it’s just me, @gruecd, and Mrs. @gianmarco.
I’m bib #9800 and in wave 2. Monday will be day 11 from COVID (and it was a rough few days) so I just want to finish within 6 hours.
Tracking is available from the “B.A.A. Racing” app.
She's not racing for any time. Hopefully she takes my advice and enjoys the day. I hope she shoots for ~4 hrs.Bummed that you and @gruecd are not in tip-top race conditions. I’d like a lawn mowing video after you run a marathon.I will NOT be running Boston this time.
I always knew you were skinny, but a goose seriously KNOCKED YOU DOWN?Worst goose attack of my life. He hit me twice. I went down after the first one and he circled around and slammed into me again. No hesitation either. As soon as we locked eyes he attacked. I had no chance to plead my case for being there.
I’m not sure if it’s best to turn your back and take it or try to fight off the attack.
More of a duck and cover thing.I always knew you were skinny, but a goose seriously KNOCKED YOU DOWN?
I thought you said it was a goose.More of a duck and cover thing.
Did he leave you with a goose egg?Hey, that post was supposed to be funny not sad. I can take a goose hit.
The flock has probably been plotting their revenge ever since you sent one scurrying into traffic a couple years ago.Hey, that post was supposed to be funny not sad. I can take a goose hit.
I laughed but then saw others posted sad emoji so I thought maybe I was an ####### so figured I better post the sad emojiHey, that post was supposed to be funny not sad. I can take a goose hit.
It’s kind of a blur now. I think I was on the sidewalk and moved to the street to avoid him at first. My human brain had the foresight to check for oncoming traffic though. Plot foiled! The flock has probably been plotting their revenge ever since you sent one scurrying into traffic a couple years ago.
I'm a big fan of that advice. Right, @ChiefD?I looked up this stupid How to Stop a Goose Attack wiki. “Do not run”.![]()
