Ran a 10k - Official Thread (8 Viewers)

Snow, rain, sun, rain, clouds.  That's today so far.  Had a break this weekend to get in a hike in.

Update:  now it's hailing.  It was almost 80 last Thursday.  Spring in Oregon is fun.

But enough about Oregon weather...isn't there a little marathon coming up next Monday?  Haven't been in here in a while, who's running?

And @gruecd, did you do the R2R2R or are planning it?  Billy Yang just released a video on that, haven't watched it yet but his stuff is usually pretty awesome.

:hey:

I'd been planning on doing it on April 2, but due to a lingering foot injury, I ended up postponing it.  So now I'm tentatively planning on December 3.  Booked an Airbnb in Williams last week.

I'm back to running (barely) sub-8 pace with my HR in the 130s.  Not expecting much at Boston, but hopeful that I can continue to re-build my base for a couple of months afterwards and then start a training block for Indy sometime in late July or early August.

Wow, that's late in the season.  You'll love the temps!

I have a hotel booked at the rim for 13Oct.  Water should be still on everywhere then before they turn off a bunch of sources for the winter freeze.

Not as terrible timing as SteelCurtain, but I seemed to have acquired a head cold from my daughter.  Feeling pretty run down and achy with a noticeably elevated resting HR.  Should be able to clear it before showtime one would hope.  On the plus side, it's currently 80 degrees here.

I've started a new program called the Half Marathon to Couch plan. Let me know if you need any details.
This is pretty similar to what I’ve been doing. Surgery was 20 days ago. The second I started being able to work out, I got sick and was in bed for an entire week. Now, here I am with no physical activity in 3 weeks and zero energy/desire to change. This has to be the first time since I picked up running that I haven’t thought about running. Don’t want to run. Don’t need to run. Could care less about running. I don’t know how to feel about it.

How's the knee feeling?

As I get ready to plan my FBG-10K southern tour prior to an Orlando conference from May 23-26, I was hoping to loop south and catch dinner with you and the mrs. on the 22nd.  Now I'm not so sure I want some lethargic fatty stealing my dessert ...

Nevertheless, I'll PM you in case you haven't fallen completely off the wagon.

I assume you are going through rehab on your knee?

I know when I tore my ACL 25 years once I got the all clear to run it was like I was shot out of a cannon because I couldn't for so long. I'll bet the same happens to you.

Flying out to Boston tomorrow.  The preparation involved in traveling with a toddler is far and away more stressful than the thought of running 26.2 miles.  Not even close.

I'm feeling some good energy from this thread.  I don't know if it's strictly on my end getting excited for my race or if it's from the whole group with races coming up and the weather turning.

It's a short window here before my #####ing about the heat/humidity is going to be rampant, so I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

I'm definitely still packing on pounds and don't know how to stop it.  But, my running fitness has never been better, so when in Rome...eat some more sugary, caloric snacks

@bushdocda one of my buddies had a conflict, so I am now running Richmond. I registered this morning.
I’ll look into it more, Harrisburg logistics so easy with my folks house nearby but all other aspects of Richmond pwn, deferral looks doable up until end October so I’ll prob register Richmond.

You recommend staying Friday and Saturday leave Sunday?

Boston peeps: Are they back to the normal logistics?  Early busses to the high school; strict corrals and waves?  And who all is running again?

Yes.  Similar to normal times.

I believe it’s just me, @gruecd, and Mrs. @gianmarco.

I’m bib #9800 and in wave 2.  Monday will be day 11 from COVID (and it was a rough few days) so I just want to finish within 6 hours.

Tracking is available from the “B.A.A. Racing” app.

Bummed that you and @gruecd are not in tip-top race conditions.  With a temp around 50 degrees and very moderate winds, it should be a great day for racing.  I can't wait to see how mrs. @gianmarco does!!

Worst goose attack of my life. He hit me twice.  I went down after the first one and he circled around and slammed into me again. No hesitation either. As soon as we locked eyes he attacked. I had no chance to plead my case for being there.

I’m not sure if it’s best to turn your back and take it or try to fight off the attack.

I always knew you were skinny, but a goose seriously KNOCKED YOU DOWN?

I advise taking a gander of their usual location before running by.

Or just migrate to a new route.

Otherwise they might get you down.
