Catching a train in Newton after the first hill that will take him back into the city will be mighty tempting. He's on record as saying he'll stick with it and finish, though.SteelCurtain through 20K. Pace of 9:56. I think that pace is just that 5K segment. Obviously he is hurting. Hope he's ok and can finish.
If the train is cancelled he may HAVE to run it in.Catching a train in Newton after the first hill that will take him back into the city will be mighty tempting. He's on record as saying he'll stick with it and finish, though.
He's through the half at 1:59:58. Pace of 9:49 that segement. Maybe found a spot he can work with.SteelCurtain through 20K. Pace of 9:56. I think that pace is just that 5K segment. Obviously he is hurting. Hope he's ok and can finish.
All trains are cancelled. He's walking/running or he's taking an Uber like me.Catching a train in Newton after the first hill that will take him back into the city will be mighty tempting. He's on record as saying he'll stick with it and finish, though.
Hmm. Did a security concern come up that caused the cancellation of trains into the city, I wonder? All trains are cancelled. He's walking/running or he's taking an Uber like me.
I saw him pass at mile 22. Got video and a couple pics. I'll post in a few.Steve is in at 2:31:52.
Mrs. Gian through 20K. Pace for that segment 9:06. Solid so far.
Dayum she quick! She just hit the halfway at 1:59:32.
Her HR holding nice and steady in low 150s.
He ran a 2:31 in October as well. I believe he finished 92nd then; this time he finished 162nd.Steve is in at 2:31:52.
Probably best to tell her she wasn’t looking closely enough. That you were waving and shouting, and she missed you in the crowd.Wife just called.
"I'm through mile 18. I didn't see you"
:(
She sounded great, HR still looks awesome. Will see her at the finish hopefully in next 75 minutes.
I told her it was her fault already.Probably best to tell her she wasn’t looking closely enough. That you were waving and shouting, and she missed you in the crowd.
Absolutely!Great job @gruecd impressive that you were able hold on at the end with a less than ideal training cycle.
Just made it to see him coming to the finish line. Looked good.
Not for nothing, your comment on Gian's Strava post yesterday made me spit water@gruecd doesn't do "back off" very well. The competitive gene is strong in this one.
WTF CALLS at mile 18 of the BOSTON FREAKING MARATHON?Wife just called.
"I'm through mile 18. I didn't see you"
Just saw him pass. He'll cross in a few seconds.SteelCurtain should be crossing any minute now. Looks like quite the gutty effort.
A guy in my old man AG finished in 2:57! He lives in the suburbs not that far from me and I've been following him on Strava.friend of mine finished in 3:10:49. wow.
Dang. Post-COVID? Unreal.
