Ran a 10k - Official Thread (10 Viewers)

SteelCurtain through 20K. Pace of 9:56.  I think that pace is just that 5K segment. Obviously he is hurting. Hope he's ok and can finish.

Catching a train in Newton after the first hill that will take him back into the city will be mighty tempting.  He's on record as saying he'll stick with it and finish, though.

He's through the half at 1:59:58. Pace of 9:49 that segement. Maybe found a spot he can work with.

@gruecd is through the hills.  I expect he shared a few choice words during Heartbreak Hill (an 8:24 mile).  Hopefully he's got the stamina and the Boston experience to hold steady through to the end.

Wife just called.

"I'm through mile 18. I didn't see you"

:(

She sounded great, HR still looks awesome. Will see her at the finish hopefully in next 75 minutes.

Thanks for following along, guys. I ran by HR early, and it was under 155 that whole time I was running faster, so I just rolled with it. Obviously the big positive split (6+ minutes) isn’t ideal, but I ran the whole thing and felt pretty decent the whole way. Like Gian said, I was loosely planning on 8-min pace, so given my lack of training and my lack of fitness/surplus of fatness, I’ll gladly take the 7:48 average.
