One year ban on foot massages for you, kiddo.

--

5K in mid-April, 10K in mid-May, 1 mile in mid-June.  Average team time for those that record a time each month determines the winner.  UPick your course.

IF one team goes up 2-0, we'll add a cumulative time as well (averaged by team) after the June race ..kind of a double-or-nothing.  If that happens to result in a 2-2 tie (but possibly a 4-0 debacle), we'll arrange a HM run-off between the captains (possibly in the fall).

As my Dances with Dirt relay team, #Viagra, likes to say- Run Hard!
So while our fearless leader is making proclamations, do we have a ruling an tracks/no tracks and point-to-point allowed or not?

Your humble simian subject,

 Dr. Z

I think our dictator should figure out how to get seeding and h2h going as to contribute to an overall team score

Could almost just have a point for the winner of the round they were drafted.

Or whatever our overlord wants.

I anticipate we'll see some broken noses and sprained wrists as guys try to gain an edge with a downhill course.
I was planning to drive north to Kettle Moraine and find some steepness.  Does that fit your image of this?

P.S.  great weather here today.  I'm bailing on my "work from home" later today and heading out for an energetic 3-mile run.   Mixture of casual paired with sprinting.

P.P.S.  glad we are on the same team for this upcoming event

Going on record that I don’t like the “net downhill allowed” approach.  Skews the results too much.  Let’s make these as comparable as possible.

Looks good.

So here is a question for the "leaders" of this Sharks v Jets showdown:

Did we determine if can stop the watch at stop lights? Based on my neighborhood it would be darn near impossible to construct a 5k and 10k route without running into a stop light.
Just train a little harder so you get through the light while it’s green

You could NW to Barrington or SW to Palos area to find some hills.  I'll probably go to Busse Woods and use a generally flat section of the uninterrupted trail.

P.S. - I used the nice weather for an 8 x 800m interval workout.  Quad strength seems to be my limiting factor right now, so I've got to start building in some hill workouts.

P.P.S. - :hifive:

P.P.P.S.   :bye:   How old are those twins of yours, now?

Look at me, I'll be running in Paris.  I thought you'd start up at the Sacre-Coeur and fly down the slope.  Look at me, I've been to Paris.

Significant downhills are discouraged ...run a big downhill and prepare to be slope-shamed by your opponents.  And if a red light or a potty-stop intervene, so be it.  We can't control everything.
I did pop this route in the map thingy but I prefer a more gradual downhill so as not to overload the ol knees.

Also, at this point of being locked up and the extension looking likely, I do miss my house in Chicago compared to this 550sqft. apartment.

Slope shame me and my faster time all you want, Team Juxtacomplainalot

I remember back when this thread used to be a supportive, friendly place.
We need to coordinate ####### with TeamGrue's food supply the week of competition. Luckily, we have @Zasada, who can fly everywhere. And since birds aren't active right now he has some time on his hands. I think a tainted beet supply is the perfect bait for this chum. Let's get this plan into action.

In.  Also happy to host an all-shovel garage sale in KC on key dates.  Incredible pricing and selection.

To me, unless you're running down the side of a freaking mountain, I think the concerns about net downhill are overblown.  It's hard enough to find a 5K or 10K route for most of us that doesn't involve road crossings, weaving around pedestrians, uneven surfaces, etc.  If you manage to somehow map out a course that nets you 200 feet elevation drop over 5K, that's probably worth 20-30 seconds over the full distance, and that's assuming it's a nice constant downhill.  Frankly I suspect even in that scenario it's a wash compared to a track due to the aforementioned irregularities.  Unless you're running a USATF certified road course, I don't see who would be entitled to throw stones about others' routes.

If we do these races at 5:00 am (like real runners), there should be no issues with traffic or pedestrians.

I am going to be spending some of the next few weeks trying to figure this out.  I've barely run on the roads around here, not even sure where to start..

Thanks, but I zoomed in and of course ended up in the San Juan mountains of Colorado.  Even google maps knows where I'd rather be running.

The effect from hills vary depending on the runner. I'm bigger as far as runners go and utilize more power in my stride, so I net a fairly substantial positive impact going downhill a/o down wind. I also have to work that much harder going uphill a/o into the wind though.

knocked another minute off....9:03  :flex:  y'all scared yet?   :lmao:  shooting for 8 next

anyone know what to do with patellar tendon pain.  lower portion, where it connects to the bone.  i have to run for a about a half mile, before it stops hurting.

i'm really pleasantly surprised that my knees, overall, haven't been hurting very much.  i just might be able to run on the regular again/   :pickle:   i have lost 20 lbs and gotten into muuuuuuch better shape, than the last time i ran.  who knew?

High forties tomorrow morning with a 6 mph wind out of the SW.

I know a nice easy mile downhill that goes mostly S and a little W nearby.  Might give it a shot.
