Anybody else feel like there's a big hole in your life from sports being gone?
For sure.  March Madness is by far my favorite, followed by the NBA playoffs. Hell, I had planned to be in New Orleans last weekend to watch the Oregon Lady Ducks win the NCAA championship, had tickets lined up and everything.

I have watched 7-8 old games on ESPN, CBS, ESPNU, etc. Obviously just not the same.

So starting today we can only run in our bubbles before 10am and after 7pm..... luckily I need to work during the days and this is not a huge issue. But the rumors are that soon there will also be an ordinance making it mandatory to wear a mask 100% of the time you are outside. w.t.f.

Throughout March, yes.

Now? Not really. I don't watch pro baseball or the NBA, haven't really kept up with hockey in years but I did enjoy catching the occasional period or two or a local hockey game.  Son #4 stopped playing baseball last year, I did miss that but that has nothing to do with COVID.

Mainly missing Champions League soccer and cycling spring classics races. And for sure the NCAA tournament. Hoping the NBA and NHL are able to finish out their seasons because playoff intensity in all major sports leagues is one of the best things to watch.

NBA and golf. I’d even watch baseball at this point. Crazy plan MLB is working on with all games in Arizona and electronic strike zone and other attempts at distancing.
Watching old ncaa tourney games is pretty sweet, I lost my interest in college hoops other than tourney over the years.

Screw that. I can't imagine trying to run with something covering my mouth/nose.

Hey all- does anyone have an experience with shoes from On-Running? I got a 50% off code, so I pulled the trigger on a pair of these last night.
I ran on a pair of Cloudflyers a few pairs ago.  Still have them and use them when traveling or as a backup.  Really liked them, they felt really light -- and I perceived that I could run faster in them.  Could be total BS.

Downside was that the gaps between the pads on the outsole would often pick up gravel (a real problem in Calgary).  Very annoying to have to stop and pluck stones out of the shoe a couple of times on a run.

I've been too busy to notice. Which is crazy to me because March Madness is one of my favorite sporting events, if it isn't #1. As the days go by in April I wonder if a void where weeknight baseball usually resides will develop, but it hasn't yet.

Yes/no. March Madness not happening is a bummer but I'm not a big NBA fan and I'm a pretty MLB fan, especially early in the year - although, the Reds looked to have a chance at being good for once lately so that is a bummer.

What bums me out the most was that I started umpiring baseball games last year. I only did little league games then. I got my IHSAA certification this spring and had gone to several meetings and a number of trainings, etc. While a little nervous about screwing it up, I was really looking forward to getting out there and doing games with some better competition. My big Christmas present was a full set of gear for being behind the plate and I've worn it just around the house being a dork and a couple times at clinics.

If this would have happened/is still going on during football season, I'll definitely miss sports more.

No Masters and Kentucky Derby is really killing me.
I grew up in southern Indiana, just across the bridge from Churchill Downs and still have a ton of family around there. When the first Saturday in May shows up and no race, that will be weird! Same with the Indy 500.

On a different note, I got an email about a price increase notice for this race for next spring. For a mere 15, I can sign up for the 50 miles and then decrease to whatever I want later. Definitely want to run at least 2 loops and the marathon next year. Kind of intrigued about doing more but not sure I want to. Will think about it a little but probably going to sign up for long one and then figure out what I want to do sometime later.

Yep.

Sports is a big part of our family's life. We watch all sports all the time. Our kids are in sports, so we are usually at a practice or two every night. And then games on weekends.

Now - poof - all gone. For the watching sports on TV part, it sucks. We love watching the Royals, and March Madness, and NHL playoff hockey.

With the kids sports, that one has been weird. We miss it but our lives have definitely slowed down. The first couple of weeks gave us some time to breathe. Now I feel like the lack of it is choking me. This has been a tough week especially for some reason.

Yeah, man.  I'm especially bummed as a Bucks fan.  I think the team had a legit chance at winning its first title since 1971.  I hope they somehow find a way to finish the season, but even then there will always be an asterisk attached.  Gonna be really interesting with Giannis being eligible to sign the supermax after the season...

I will kind of miss both the NHL and NBA playoffs. Mostly Pacer games for NBA, although hopes were not near as high as @gruecd's, but they still were going to be in and anything possible with Vic coming back. And even though I don't have a team that I root for, NHL playoffs are awesome - especially a tight game coming down the stretch. Nothing is more intense than an overtime NHL playoff game, IMO.

Yeah, even though I don't typically watch NBA, I was looking forward to seeing if they could pull this off. Love rooting for the small market teams.

And the KU Jayhawks - man, that one hurts. They had a legit chance this year to win it all.

Jayhawks would have found a way to mess it up and break your heart, IMO. Probably better for you to just dream that they still had a chance!

;)

I'm surprised sports as a means for entertainment hasn't connected, but that's having a great impact here too. We are manufacturing competition with the kids - i.e. we set up a mini ninja warrior course in the backyard Saturday then raced all afternoon. Isn't the same though. Spending 5:30-8 three nights per week at the track then even longer both days over the weekend. That's what life is usually like right now. Instead the juggling act is finding time for us to actually get work done around the chaos that is our house.

I don't watch as much sports as I used to, though I do really miss the Masters.  NCAA tournament has had much less appeal in this one-and-done era ...I just don't know the players.  I do enjoy the stats of various sports, and that's probably what bothers me the most ...the lost games for guys like the Blackhawks' Patrick Kane; the Tigers' Miggy Cabrera; and former Tiger Justin Verlander come to mind.

I also miss the D-III sports for my university.  Our men's volleyball season got cut off, and they were one of the better teams in the country.

Walked the dog this morning and then came back to get ready to go out for a run.  Even programmed some intervals into my Garmin, was ready to do that if I felt good.  As I'm getting dressed, I lift my knee up to put on my shorts and "POP!" in my hip.  Sharp pain, and I think I heard a noise - although that might have just been the pain flooding my brain.  Did a telemedicine call with an ER doc, he said if I came in they'd X-ray me (he said they always X-ray joint pain), but based on the mechanism and that I could still put a little weight on it, it was likely not a dislocation or break or anything.  Ice, NSAIDs, and full rest for at least a couple of days.  If not better, then go in for an x-ray.

Can't even walk the dog.

I just don't understand some people.  I saw this this morning and figured I'd put it here since we all know better, but wtf.....

As I'm driving home today, there is a woman running with her dog.  Now, the street that I live on is a slightly less than moderate busy street.  Not a steady stream of cars, but I'd venture at least 3-4 cars pass by any given minute, sometimes more, sometimes less.  It is also nice in that it has a sidewalk that is removed from the street (decent strip of grass that separates the sidewalk and the road).  It's only one side.  The other side is the front of people's homes (such as ours).

This woman was running on the other side of the road.  In people's grass.  In the direction of traffic (with her back to it).  With the dog on a leash on the actual road (on her left) while she was on the grass so that he's more likely to get hit.  And it's not a wide road so there's no way to really "move over" and avoid her and the dog without getting into the oncoming lane, of which there's a decent chance 2 cars pass by at the same time.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen a person do so many things wrong at one time before.

Tell your wife to run on the sidewalk.

No fluorescent or illuminated vest on the dog I'm presuming.

Maybe she doesn't like her dog?

Yes, I got hurt getting dressed.

:bag:
I decided to get a second opinion from Dr. Google and another from Dr. WebMD, because @gianmarco would want it that way.  Pretty sure I have Idiopathic transient osteoporosis.  Description of the symptoms are similar, but mostly because it's only found in pregnant women and that would help explain the Covid 19(lbs) that I've gained.
