6.  Duck rolls into Duncan Canyon to find his drop bag next to 4 empty chairs and 5th chair with a dude passed out in a Blackeyed Joe shirt and a Royals hat pulled down over his eyes. He digs into his already open drop bag to find his extra gels and nipple band aids are all gone, as are the calf compression sleeves. He plops down in a chair to find it soaking wet and a puddle on the ground around it - he is told by the aid station workers that a tall, bald guy from Wisconsin sat in it for 30 seconds in the 99 degree heat. Duck cleans his own damned feet before moving on down the trail. 

I resemble that remark!

Well, I'm still leaning towards running the Wisconsin Marathon in May.  If you'd decided to BQ for that one too, I'd be happy to endure that nervous chatter!   (Although, honestly, I've never noticed before.  You've always seemed like a Zen Master to me!)

Ironic, as I'm thinking about doing the Illinois Marathon in April.  The earlier, the colder, the better.

Wait, the Shamrock Marathon is in March?  Average high of 56° on March 19 and average low of 38°?  Hmmmm....

Goal is to run a 7:38/mile pace for the first 5K and if I feel okay, I'll try to move up to a 7:35/mile pace.  Once I get to mile 20, I'll do whatever I think is best to keep me under 3:20 goal.

The only thing I don't like about the Shamrock is that the marathon starts 8:30.  It would be great if we had a big crew from the 10k thread, sort of a dry-run for Boston.

My only concern with Shamrock is that I know I have a conference in Vegas that starts on that Sunday.  I have to wait and see what day/time I need to be there.  If it doesn't start until later on Sunday, I could conceivably fly from Virginia Beach straight to Vegas.

The coco for kids 1 mile, 5k and 10k - 5k at 8, 10k at 9.  My 8yo wants to run the 5k, so I'll do that with him (probably takes us around 35 minutes) then pass him off to Mrs FUBAR and run the 10k.  Most likely I won't pr, but this will be more fun.

Ha! Let's see what kind of shape I can get in over the next 4 months. Probably 20 pounds away from being in 3:10 (BQ-5) shape. A little over a pound a week should be do-able.

That was a blast.  He got 3rd in his age group for the 5k!  I actually got 2nd while running with him.  (Not a large field) with a 30:11.  Really good for him. 

Apparently the Warmup was good, I won the 10k   41:20, led the field from the half mile mark.  One tall dude was 30 seconds behind, then there was a 5 minute gap.  

He had a lot of fun, my wife stayed throughout (the first time she has watched my race), the race was a fundraiser for foster care and adoption so that was especially cool for us.

Ran a half yesterday morning in Milwaukee.  Official time was 1:38:19 (7:31/mile).  Not bad I guess considering that I've really only been "training" again for a month or so and I'm probably a solid 20 pounds over race weight.  Ran with the 1:40 pace group for the first 7 miles or so and then did my own thing the rest of the way.

Need to get my half time back down around 1:30 if I'm gonna have a decent chance of running 3:10 in the spring.

One more month of base building and then I'll start really training in December.  Crewing a buddy at World's Toughest Mudder this coming weekend, so I'm not sure how much running will get done.

Week 14 taught me that I'm teetering on that razor's edge.  I'm so ready for the taper to get here.

M: 6 recovery @ 9:01/132.  Good lord my legs were sore from Sunday's 20/14.
T: 9 MLR @ 8:06/139
W: 15 MLR @ 8:15/138.  Ugh, I hated this run.  These mid-week MLRs are quite the chore.
T: 6 recovery @ 9:05/133.  Running on a full stomach is not the best idea.
F: 10/5 LT @ 6:34/173.  My legs were very heavy, but I was happy I could work through this.  It was windy, which didn't help.
S: 6 recovery.  Life got in the way - I just had no time to run.  
S: 18 LR @ 8:14/147.  Did my "hilly" route again.  Heading out into the wind made it difficult, but it was nice to run back home with it at my back.

64mi for the week.

I'm happily surprised #1) how well last week went and #2) how I'm feeling today.  Haven't logged quantity yet, but the quality was there.  32 miles, 1,132' of elevation, 750 lunges, 100 squats, 350 push up's, 50 dips, and 6 consecutive days working out (plus yard work yesterday).  Highlights were a 5 mile negative split LT'ish run Wednesday (with 10 minutes of core halfway) and a 9 mile hybrid trail run Saturday with a smashed segment PR mile 7.  

I wasn't planning on increasing miles until at least next week, but given how I'm feeling and the forecasted weather I'm going to roll with it and see how it goes. Mixing in more core work was this week's planned progression and I intend to still do that too.

I don't think that Shamrock Marathon is going to work for me.  I think I'm gonna need to be in Vegas earlier for my conference.  Really starting to think that I'll be racing in Illinois on April 22.  Either the "Last Chance BQ.2 Marathon" in Geneva or the Illinois Marathon in Champaign.

Good news is I could wait to really start training until after the holidays and then do a 16-week program.
