Another ice storm today. I think God is trying to tell me something.

Depending on the drive home may try and slip/slide my way to the community center, but not sure how safe that is going to be. May just try to squeeze out some miles running grassy areas next to the sidewalks by my house. Needless to say my speedwork may not get done this week. Might be able to actually do some hill work instead - that way if I fall it will at least be uphill.

Fan boy day for me.  Started off seeing YiOu Wang and Mario Fraioli on the trail, then Devon Yanko on the road as I got back toward my car.  Then tonight I'm going to the SF Running Company for a showing of Billy Yang's new film LEADMAN: The Dave Mackey StoryFree Sufferfest beer, what I'm sure will be another great film from Billy, and hanging out with the local trail celebs and tribe should make for a good time.
Ho hum just seeing numerous elite ultra runners on my daily runs.    That's awesome.

You'll love Leadman.  Saw it a week or two ago at TC Running.  Plenty incredible, inspiring, and eye opening as it definitely drives home the "enjoy every day like it's your last" perspective on life.  You just truly never know.  Have fun.  :banned:

local 5k on saturday morning. i've run it on and off for years now. this year they are requiring registration either in person on Friday until 5:30 (no can do) or online through Active.com

so i went to Active.com, filled out my info, picked the race, entered my cc info, got to the "submit payment" page and read in the fine print that Active.com adds an $89 auto-renewal annual membership fee unless you cancel.

well, #### all that. i don't want to register for this race anymore. so i closed the browser.

this morning get a receipt from Active.com. :hot:  inconvenient but i'll just go ahead and cancel the registration and auto-renewal  :hot:

except the cancellation instructions they provide direct you to links that don't exist on their site :hot:
anyone else have this experience??? i've emailed ben@dutrirun.com but do not expect to hear back from him, or anyone connected to the site ever again in my lifetime.  how do i cancel this auto-renewal????

That happened to me a few years ago.  Its BS how they slide it in, but I remember it being pretty easy to get my money back.  Google the issue, theres tons about it.

Starting point.

I thought you could decline the membership from the beginning.  I think I've done that before.  You have to be really careful when you sign up for races these days.  You can accidentally sign up for memberships, magazines, race insurance, etc.

Note to future me- just get up and run instead of saying you’ll go at lunch. My work day is now heavily conspiring against me 🥴

Two major reasons I run in the morning, first thing.  This is one of them.  The other is that getting my chores done first means I enjoy my lounging-about more after -- no guilt hanging over me.  That bag of Doritos tastes far better if I already earned them versus needing to earn them later in the day.

Had a tooth pulled yesterday.  Should have waited til today.  Low 50's and mostly cloudy over lunch before a storm sweeps through and drops temps 30 degrees bringing the wind with it too.  Nice planning, Dumas.

I once signed up for the undercoating.

Was actually quite nice and refreshing after the race.

Customer: I sat right here and said I didn't want no TruCoat!
Jerry: Yeah, but I'm sayin', that TruCoat, you don't get it and you get oxidization problems. It'll cost you a heck of lot more'n five hundred--
Customer: You're sittin' here, you're talkin' in circles! You're talkin' like we didn't go over this already!
Jerry: Yeah, but this TruCoat--
Customer: We had us a deal here for nine-teen-five. You sat there and darned if you didn't tell me you'd get this car, these options, without the sealant, for nine-teen-five!
Jerry: All right, I'm not sayin' I didn't--
Customer: You called me twenty minutes ago and said you had it! Ready to make delivery, ya says! Come on down and get it! And here ya are and you're wastin' my time and you're wastin' my wife's time and I'm payin' nineteen-five for this vehicle here!
Jerry: All right. I'll talk to my boss. See, they install that TruCoat at the factory, there's nothin' we can do, but I'll talk to my boss.
[Jerry leaves the room]
Customer: [to his wife] These guys here--these guys! It's always the same! It's always more!
[Other room]
Jerry: You goin' to the Gophers on Sunday?
Salesman: Oh you betcha.
Jerry: You wouldn't happen to have an extra ticket?
Salesman: You kiddin'!
[Jerry returns to his office]
Jerry: Well, he never done this before. But seeing as it's special circumstances and all, he says I can knock a hundred dollars off that Trucoat.
Customer: One hundred--You lied to me, Mr Lundegaard. You're a bald-faced liar. A ####### liar.
Customer's Wife: Bucky, please.
Customer: Where's my ### #### check book? Let's get this over with.

Exactly what I was thinking about when I posted that.

This is usually me but I fell prey to the siren song of extra 2 hours of sleep from 5 to 7 and warmer temp at lunch.  Will get the lunch run and tomorrow morning is a 🔒

I think scheduling the lunch workout keeps me more focused in the morning.  I know I have to accomplish X tasks or I risk missing out on it.  Then the lunch workout resets my body and mind, leading to a more productive afternoon.  Knowing I can't exercise over lunch today I find myself ####### around more than usual.

I'm going to have to suck it up and run 5 miles tomorrow morning somehow. We have to go to a minor league hockey game tomorrow night, so my normal run is out.

Only gonna be about 7 degrees tomorrow morning.   <_<

Thanks.

57 miles into the Kinvara 10... they're comfy and I like them but don't see them going 300.  Starting to look into new cushy shoes to rotate in for long/easy days and utilize the K10 for the rest...hate this part.

I think there are a couple of benefits I'm getting from the treadmill, other than just getting the work in:

1. I'm able to manage my heart rate and keep it in the zones where they should be based on the workout. It's hard to do in my neighborhood because I have so much elevation in both directions. I'm hoping I'm gaining some efficiency at least.

2. I'm learning how to mentally zone out. After about a half hour on the treadmill I get antsy, so I've been practicing picking a spot in front of me and just mentally zoning in on that spot. It's actually helped pull me out of that antsy phase. Hoping this helps during the marathon when I reach those periods of mental questioning.

I was gonna comment on strava the HR looked good.  I've never been the expert here, but 8 mp miles at 152HR looks pretty strong.  You're racking up the miles lately.

I like to daydream when training.  Treadmill or outside.  That makes the miles go by easiest. I never do that during races or hard training.  I tend to only think about the task at hand then.

I mentioned the first one a couple times before. I've put in a ton of time on the treadmill over the last month - like 80% of my runs or more. The consistent conditions allow me to monitor HR and take away some very valuable measurables from it. Then, when I have gone back on the road, it has helped a ton, especially when it comes to putting in the "right effort" for the type of run I'm going for out there.

Well, that HR is a little misleading, in that in counts my warm up and cool down. But I HAVE been in the 162 range for my MP miles, which is exactly where I should be based on past knowledge.

I recently started to do something similar on hard runs/races when I need to find my inner BMF.  I'll focus my eyes about 10-15 yards in front of me on the road and just focus mental effort on my running form and ensuring that I have fast cadence (whilst trying to block out that my lungs are screaming in torture)

Yeah, this right here is my biggest hurdle to overcome. I tend to mentally "give up" when stuff starts to hurt or gets tough, and I need to work through that. I just need to keep reminding myself: "you are in shape for this. trust your training."

Easier said than done for me.  But trying to work on it.

I think this is key on hard run days, especially near the end of the workout.  Perform how you practice and this has to be done in order to break through your own glass ceiling and establish a new one.

So are you zoning out or zoning in?

It confuses me.

PT chronicles, I’m Back and I brought my groin with me...

Balky hammy groin assessed this morning and some hip alignment stuff was in order. Electro needle left of my L3 and 4 suction cups on my hammy glute.  Downright inspirational morning.  Still clear to run easy and will start fitting in faster miles one-sy  two-sy in about a week to test the response. If I can get on track with handling weekly workouts by the end of the month I’ll be stoked and still feel good about a fast half in May.

Not sure I want to "like" this post.
