Ran a 10k - Official Thread (7 Viewers)

In case any of you Carmel runners (or anyone else) is having trouble sleeping and need something to take your mind of your impending domination of that course - my pretend girlfriend, Bowerman Babe, and Olympian Steeplechaser Colleen Quigley was on a Portland radio show this week (podcast here), and I find myself even more smitten.  She rules.

And now back to race stalking our roundabout-runners.....

And on a completely unrelated note, The Barkley Marathons kicked off a couple of hours ago as Lazarus Lake lit his unfiltered Camel to signal the start of the "race".

If you don't know what this is, here is the trailer to the Netflix doc that came out a couple of years ago, or check out Ginger Runner's "Where Dreams Go To Die".

If you want to follow along, Twitter and the #bm100 hashtag is really the only way.  If anyone challenges the course it's a 60 hour cutoff, so plenty of time after our intrepid BMFs are at the finish line festival celebrating treating that course like Conan the Barbarian treats his enemies.

Had a dream last night, and this one is no ####, where some dudes broke in my house. For the next however long, these guys chased me through backyards, houses, the woods, etc.

So thanks @Juxtatarot and @The Iguana for the conversation about cross country running last night. Jerks.

Neurostim, beet juice, poop...check, check, check.

Had a dream last night that I found a bunch of syringes on the lawn from people injecting prune juice. Not beet juice...prune juice.  Da fuq?!

Just fell back asleep for a little and just had the most amazing dream. This is true:

-- I was in Carmel to watch

-- I caught up to them prerace and met them in some kind of gas station market. There was a little guitar there that I picked up and started playing and @gruecd started singing with me. It was cool because I don't really play guitar.

-- I told them I couldn't quite leave yet because I was still at work (which I actually am now) but I'd be watching. You guys gave me #### because I slept more than you did.

-- The runners started going by the area I was which was inside some kind of school/indoor mall. Half of them had to stop and were puking because they went too fast. I was actually late getting to that spot and missed our guys who had already passed and were fine.

-- A fire engine came and paused the race for the rest of the runners. This was really strange

-- I head to this conference room in the hotel and  @JShare87 shows up. He's making a video for you guys. He's wearing this awesome white 80s track suit with sunglasses and doing BMX bike tricks with thread references on his clothes and pedals. It was hilarious....

Then I woke up.

PS -- I never remember my dreams but this one was crazy and so awesome.

GTFOH! You’ve officially lost it, my friend.

Any updates on our crew?
@Juxtatarot through the halfway point in 1:26:47.  He's killing it.

@gruecd through the halfway point in 1:30:04.  I could only dream of a time like this.  For a HM!  Let alone a full.

@ChiefD through the quarter point in 1:01:56.  <4 still within reach and he's set up well for a negative split!

@The Iguana through the halfway point (HM) in 53:55.  I think he's going for a 1:45 time -- saving energy for his negative split as well.

Looks like they've been getting rained-on the whole time.  If the race was just a few miles south they probably would have got some breaks from the wet.  Incredible that they're all running like they are in that.  Wind looks OK (if you can believe WU) and temps are perfect.  Would be a fantastic racing day were it not for the rain.

"Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?"

Looks like they are pacing this thing well, get it done guys.

I watched many videos on YouTube about this.  So crazy/impressive/incredible.  Seeing these true elite athletes give every ounce they have.  I wish I had half of that determination.

It's too bad Gary Robbins couldn't enter this year due to injury.  He wants to finish this so bad.

Yeah, this one is crazy.

And to correct myself, if actually didn’t start until about an hour ago. Guess that wasn’t the cigarette that Laz lit last night.
