I’m a degenerate.

I bet my uncle in Wisconsin a slab of Gates against some Zillman’s sausage for the Chiefs game tonight.

WE WANT SAUSAGE! WE WANT SAUSAGE!

I was referring more to the crappy weather there.

Last stop before moving to NC was central PA.  Football and hunting season made things bearable until January.  Then its smack in the middle driving to work in the dark and coming home in the dark.  Worked in a huge office building...there were days I didn't see the sun.  I remember days were the temps didn't get above zero.  Every time it warmer up in spring just meant rain was on the way.  Every Memorial Day I lived there it rained.  Plenty of 90s in the summer too.  Unless global warming has improved things you couldn't pay me enough to move back.
Yep

My wife grew up in northern New York. Somewhat near Buffalo. She remembers snow up to their deck, which was off their 2nd floor. No thanks.

Today was in the 60s this morning. Unfortunately I had to be in to work at 630. I didn't want to run in the dark so I just sat and spun for half an hour. Still sweated my ### off, it was humid.

Did 5 miles on the treadmill last night.  I'm right there with most of you in not being a fan but I've found that I really like it for intervals.  I'm still trying to play a runner on TV so I'm not great with my pacing.  Being on the treadmill allows me to set the pace and stick to it.  For intervals/sprints that comes in really handy.  I was able to get up to 8mph comfortably and 9mph with some effort.

Intervals are the only thing any sane person can do on the dreadmill.

Perfect running weather here, but my HRM has to be wrong. Usually after the first few minutes it gets right, but today while I was doing 1 minute pickups, it showed a lot higher than it should have been. Up to a maximum of 202 for a longer pickup (a straight half mile).  It was probably 20 or so beats higher than real.

Trying to decide whether I care about HR for the next few months, if it's worth getting the chest strap. I'm thinking no.

First of probably two 20-milers this cycle on tap for tomorrow morning.  I've run the distance a gazillion times, and yet the first one of the cycle is always a little daunting.  First 15 at whatever pace (probably 7:35-7:45) the last 5 at 6:45-6:55.  Gonna be nice and cool but humid.

@ChiefD So since the hurricane is supposed to hit @JShare87 around the same time as our draft...  should we consider moving it?

someone was driving back that Monday (don't recall who apologies) perhaps same time Tues?

You know, that's a really good question. I guess for now let's see how it goes and still plan for Monday.

With the caveat that our backup plan is Tuesday at the same time.

That may actually not be a good thing, it's different than the eye but IIRC the NE quadrant is generally the worst of the 4. It is a good thing our buddy is inland. A lot of water around him and at sea level though.
it is most definitely not a good thing.  (see my parenthesis)

King Tide is gonna create a lot more flooding.

Crap sleep and wake up headache meant no crisp morning run. But should be able to pull some afternoon trail time instead of work. Yay.

Welp.....Wife has deferred her entry to the half marathon at Newport (RI) on 10/13.

I still have my entry to Chicago marathon that day or I could pace a marathon on the east coast.

Hope things work out OK for our Florida folks!!!

and: moving the draft would be fine (even preferable) for me, but we’re dealing with a lot of logistics here.

Regarding the draft. We have it scheduled for 8 pm CST on Monday. The hurricane is bearing down into @JShare87's territory. So trying to think of alternate plans if necessary. TripleThreat brought up the idea to move it to Tuesday at the same time.

That is fine with me, but I'm not sure we gain anything. If the hurricane hits his neck of the woods, he may be unavailable both days anyway. But that is an option.

I can also pause the draft at JShare's pick and text him the previous picks and then enter them for him (hopefully Yahoo allows this). My preference at this point would be to keep it on Monday and lets see what happens, and then JShare can give us the skinny one way or the other.

Another option would be maybe one of the guys not in the league ( @gianmarco maybe) , could be a proxy and draft for JShare if he's not available. They hung out at the relay, so I'm sure they would be totally simpatico in terms of draft choices.

This sounds good. Keep the draft on Monday. If I can’t draft, my best friend @gianmarco will draft for me whether he likes it or not. Worst case scenario, I rank my players and it can auto draft for me.

I don't think we will remain best friends if I draft for you.

When I stepped away from fantasy this past year, I completely stepped away. As in, I didn't know Antonio Brown was on the Raiders until I saw something about him and his helmet just a few weeks ago. I learned at that time that Bell's new team was the Jets. I can't name a single rookie this year. Not 1 and that's not a joke. I've intentionally avoided all things NFL.

It won't be pretty. I'll be the guy that drafts Andrew Luck and everyone else laughs (I did just see that one).

And finally, it is the night before we move. I'm quite sure my wife will murder me if I spend a couple hours on a draft with all we've got going on.

I'm sorry because I'd love to help out otherwise..... :(

Is there an option to open up the draft now without a clock?  We could pick away thru the weekend and finish up Monday night.  I’d imagine we could get thru the first few critical rounds (and shorten the time on Monday, too).  Even if someone is unavailable for a few hours, we could make good progress.

(I need to work my travel home from our cottage around the draft, so I have a vested interest in this)

Dorian is shifting north, it moved slow enough over open waters so the front sweeping through that was going to hit it somewhere in Florida will now hit it before it makes land fall. That may not be good news for South Carilina though.

Unrelated, that Gru mile repeat workout is no joke. 6:19-6:09-5:53-5:42 but that last one was all grit and the foot shuffle cool down was crazy slow and crazy hard. Body is SORE now!!!

I'm not sure this is an option. I will check. I don't mind this idea.

So the running gods shined upon me this morning. Woke up at 4:00 am for my usual Saturday long run along my usual route.

There is another girl who runs this route on a semi-regular basis. I usually see her running past me on the other side of the road early in the run, and she usually laps me coming back. Anyway, I see her again this morning at the little downtown area of where I live (where the farmers market is located). This is normally my halfway point, and I'll run the neighborhood there sometimes and then turn around and come back home.

Anyway, she is running in front of me before the turn-around, and she all of a sudden stops to stretch. Beautiful girl - but then I already knew that because I had seen her a few times in passing. Anyway, I do my loop and turn around and start heading home. About 2 miles later, here she comes and is coming up fast (she is a really fast runner). She is on my side, so clearly she had been stalking me since coming out of downtown.

As she pulls up along side, I turn and said "well, you're just a bit faster than me." She cracks up and slows down a bit so we chat for about a half mile. Nice girl, sports bra and short shorts - beautiful. We talk about races (neither of us is training for anything specific).

She says "I'm just running off the Bud Light."

Me:

So after a couple of minutes, I tell her not to let me hold her up, so we say our goodbyes and she takes off. For the next mile I got to see that glorious ### in front of me.  I tried to pace her so see how fast she was running, and NO WAY was that happening. She was running sub 7:00's easily.

Anyway, you can look at me Strava feed at the exact moment where she ran up along side me.

An excellent morning to be sure. Finished it off with a trip to the farmers market, and the high school culinary school was making breakfast burritos today. :headbang:

Week 2 of crazy schedule was a little spotty. Lifted a couple times, but only 2 runs so far this week. But did do 10+ today and will do the same tomorrow. Fun being at the cabin with some actual hills and such. Probably had close to as much elevation in 10 miles today as I had in 135 miles the rest of the month combined.

Can you turn off the time between picks?

Nice run and recap this morn. Big fan.
I  am not sure. There isn’t a ton of info on if I can adjust time between picks. If I could, we could start the draft and I could set the time for 24 hours or something. Just not sure if we have that kind of customization. I will look again.

For the record, I have kind of spotty access the next couple of days. Might have to text me when I'm up if it does start early and I'll do my best to get on.

And you did the hills too??? If so, those paces are bananas!
