I think it's telling that the Texans had a shot to beat Indy with Coutee putting up an 8-141 line with Cooks in the lineup, but without him were steamrolled by the Bears and Coutee's 3-24 day was only salvaged by a TD. I don't have any pieces of either offense playing tonight though. I couldn't tell you anything about them in comparison to Keke, but if there are other decent ww options available then I'd be tempted to wait on Cooks news.

I agree.  I feel like Keke is way more Robin/Pippen than Batman/Jordan.  I'd prefer to play Agholor or Johnson, just not sure which one...

If Keenen Allen plays tonight, you most definitely have to play him.

As far as your other choices, to me it's a coin flip in either scenario. If you are going to make a move, I like move (c) the best. I just don't trust Agholor.

Wife is due next Wednesday, so she could literally be going into labor any time now.  Hopefully it's nice and orderly, but just in case it's not, I don't want to stray too far from home, so it's gonna be lots of treadmill miles for me the next few days.  Scheduled for 4 today, 10 tomorrow, and 15-16 on Sunday.  Anything good that I should watch on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?

If you like science fiction, The Expanse is really good.  Not sure how to describe it, but if you want "Marvel Heroes Gone Bad", The Boys is really fun.  Both on Amazon Prime.

Just did my first snow/ice run in the city. Suuuuuuuuucked. Really glad I haven't gone out pre-dawn this week... Even though there was a small path cleared through some of the way, so much ice I barely saw in direct sunlight this morning, it would be a giant slip and slide in bad lighting.

Did my usual 2 bridges run into brooklyn. The entire stretch in brooklyn was iced. Good workout, using lots of other muscles, but not a let 'er rip type of thing. With the conditions post blizzard, ended up running half what I normally do on weekends.

It sounds like you bounced right back from the fall.  Great news.  Knee ok during the run?

The most important part of winter running right there. Quantity of miles don't really matter. You'll get more work out of half the mileage relative to normal conditions. This is why it takes a narrow set of circumstances to consider the dreadmill. More benefits battling the elements than retreating to the comfortable confines of the hamster wheel.

Why do you think Rocky defeated Drago?

Thanks. It was sore, but a lot of stuff was sore, either from the fall or likely from running on ice and utilizing a different set of muscles than I'm used to. But TBH...it's not bothering me now at all, so good news there- thanks for asking.

I don't have access to a treadmill, so it's outdoor running or bust for me.

My old tri coaches used to always have the club do snow runs in central park or upstate to get that interstitial muscle workout (on the rare occasions we'd get that much snow here). I was always more sore after those than any other workout.

My run yesterday has me thinking more about bonking.  By that I mean glycogen depletion.

When I set out I planned on running to the river and back (16 miles) but I was feeling fine so I decided to stretch it to 20.  After the first few miles, I ran around 15 to 30 seconds slower than marathon pace.  So, reasonably briskly.

I never bonked.  That's surprising since I have a long history of bonking. I haven't been holding my weekly run longs down to 10 to 16 miles recently.  I also didn't prepare for the run, ate nothing and only had about 1/2 glass of water beforehand.  I would have thought I would have bonked on such a run.

This makes me thinks of the Hansen Method that, if I understand correctly, maxes out the long-run at 16.  My training might be evidence that I might not need those super long runs.  Not that super long runs are bad, just that they may not be necessary.

I can definitely vouch for the Hanson method. No way I go sub 4:00 without it. But, the increased mileage (for me) clearly played a role. On the previous two marathons I certainly ran out of gas, but I also know I didn’t run enough mileage. But I sure felt pretty damn good the last 6 miles of Carmel. I attribute that to Hanson for sure. That plan did exactly what the book outlined.

I can attest that the Floppo Method- run twice per week <20m total and have a new-born wake you up nightly for all four months of prep is the surest way to a sub 4 that I know.

My latest pondering has been whether it might be effective to do the long runs earlier, such as in base training.  Marathon training, then, would focus more on quality (speed work; hills; tempo) and less on also trying to add quantity.

That's what I did last winter. Even had a 70 mile week 2 weeks before my plan began. Everything really seemed to be coming together when the pandemic hit as I was preparing to turn into peak.

Gonna use that as a template next time. Hammer mileage in the training before the training, spend the first part of the cycle integrating quality, then see how much quantity I can add on to it during peak.

The Hansons just want you to follow the guidelines of runs less than 3 hours and the long run should be less than 25-33% of your weekly mileage. So for some like yourself there is no issue with running a 18-20 miler in marathon training, I maxed out at 18 when I had my marathon PR.

Great job by you on the 20 miler, I wish I had the mindset to run long, just don’t have it right now.

Their method seems a little extreme, imo.

Big news in the Blind Ref household.....

1.  Peloton bike is arriving this afternoon between 12 and 3.  So I'll probably be running less in 2021.

2.  Heading to Aruba from 12/23 to 12/31.  I can't wait to get to run in 80 degrees.  Cheap flights and hotel on points made this a no brainer (other than obviously COVID nervousness.)  We all have our N95 masks for the flight.

3.  My sister is a physician and on Saturday she got the vaccine.  It was cool to see hope starting to spread around the vaccine.  I hope it continues.  Guessing @gianmarco will be the first to get vaccinated in this group, unless @tri-man 47 fits in the elderly care age group.  :D

I'm getting mine in 3 hours.  Mrs. GM got hers 3 days ago.

We're heading to Cozumel tomorrow for a week...same cheap fares and points for hotels.

pray for mojo.

The Mrs.

Wife's family is all doctors...three of them got it. One had some bad "frontal headaches" for a couple days, but is fine now.
She just had some arm soreness the next morning.  Otherwise nothing.  In fact, she finished a 51 mile week including a long run yesterday.

She does have allergies and took her antihistamine before the vaccination.  She sounded like she had a mild reaction at the 15 minute mark but it wasn't a big deal.  She was glad she took that preemptively, though.

Whats the next race? That's a lot of miles- nice!

Still July since the Mesa Marathon is postponed.  Might look at some other races for March, but a brief search wasn't promising for candidates.  This is probably the best one at this point.  Same weekend as we had planned, although she's behind in her training due to illness/work/continued IT band issues.  So I don't think it'll happen.
