I do think its happened before where a team started a RB but didn't really use them because they were not 100% but it just won't fool the defense for very long. Maybe a play action on the first drive or something.

If they were really going to us him as a decoy, they should have declared him active Monday

 
Looks good, only reason he doesnt have a big night is if GB goes up 3+ TDs in first half...but hopefully Jones gets a score & is a part of that

 
Aaron Jones rushed 15 times for 58 yards in the Packers' Week 9 win over the 49ers, adding five receptions for 21 additional yards. 

Active for the first time since Week 6 because of a calf injury, the pre-game scuttlebutt was that Jones would be on a snap count. Instead, as if to laugh in fantasy managers' faces, the Packers gave Jones the ball on the first four plays of the game. He ended up ceding only 14 touches to backups Tyler Ervin and Dexter Williams, and played into the fourth quarter of a blowout. Although tonight was the first time all season that Jones was held out of the end zone, he re-proved his health and now has 10 days to rest up for a mouthwatering home matchup with the Jaguars.

Depends on your options.  There was always the chance of re-injury or aggravation.  The limited tag suggested he would be used less than normal - and he wasn't used near the goal-line or much after the first half.  They were protecting him to a degree and we didn't know how much that would be...  In hindsight, everything is easier.

Aaron Jones rushed 20 times for 145 yards and a touchdown in the Packers' Week 15 win over the Panthers.

Jones added another 13 yards by catching 3-of-4 targets. A whopping 123 of his 158 total yards occurred in the first half, as the Packers absolutely dominated the opening two quarters and led 21-3 at halftime. Jones' day was highlighted by a 46 yard run on 3rd-and-short, where he hit a lateral hop at the line of scrimmage to tear through a Panthers defense that attempted to fill every gap. Jamaal Williams going down with a quad injury allowed Jones to hit the 23 touch mark, and he will once again be viewed as a strong RB1 against the Titan in Week 16.

They are crazy to let him walk, but may opt for resigning Williams and pairing him with Dillon. With Rosenhaus now on board as his agent, they are going to push for top dollar and that will probably prevent them from resigning. As for tagging him, I’m not sure who else on that team might warrant the tag too? 
 

As for next week, he was the only Packer that played well last night and it would be a massive lift to fantasy teams going for a championship  if Williams was out with that quad injury. 

 
Aaron Jones (toe) remained "limited" in Thursday's practice, but said he's "ready to go" for Week 16 against the Titans. 

Jones said he was "feeling good" after Thursday's session. With Jamaal Williams (quad) not feeling good and likely to sit, Jones is a high-end RB1 for the fantasy finals after erupting for one of his biggest games of the season in Williams' injury-shortened Week 15 affair.

Please give us Jones owners a game of volume, especially in the passing game to exhibit his elite passing game skills. I don't like it but get GB limiting his total touches keeping him fresh for the playoffs but the lack of using him in the passing game has been very perplexing for NFL and FF.

 
Aaron Jones rushed 10 times for 94 yards and caught 2-of-3 targets for 14 yards in the Packers' Week 16 win over the Titans.

Jones spent most of the first half on the sideline with a hip injury.  He took over as the featured back at halftime, with  most of his production coming on a 59-yard run that set up a Davante Adams touchdown. The 94 yards put Jones over 1,000 yards rushing for the second straight season. Jones could miss some practice time this week with his hip issue, but that shouldn't keep him out of a Week 17 matchup with Chicago.

Aaron Jones rushed 11 times for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Packers' Week 17 win over the Bears, adding four receptions for 43 yards. 

No other Green Bay back saw more than five carries on the day. Jones' pass game involvement was encouraging even with the return of Jamaal Williams, who had eaten into Jones' passing down opportunity this season. Jones missed two games this season and still finished third in rushing yardage. He'll continue to be a central part of the Packers' offense when they start their Super Bowl push after their first round bye.

Aaron Jones rushed 14 times for 99 yards and one score in Green Bay's Divisional Round win against the Rams.

With the Packers leading 19-10 after the intermission, Jones received the first carry of the second half and promptly exploded up the middle for a 60-yard gain, matching the number of times Los Angeles' defense allowed such a gain in the regular season. Although Jones' box score (and tape) shows explosiveness at first glance, he still discouragingly handled just 15-of-33 backfield touches and matched Jamaal Williams in carries inside the 10-yard line with four each. Given the team's surprising usage of multiple backs, Jones will be a tough pill to swallow for any two-game DFS slates in the Conference Championship round.

Aaron Jones had 43 percent of the Packers' rushing attempts in the team's Divisional Round win over the Rams. 

The theory that Green Bay was saving Jones for massive postseason workloads didn't pan out, as Jones played 47 of 75 offensive snaps for the Packers on Saturday. He salvaged his fantasy day with a 60-yard run at the beginning of the second half. Meanwhile, Jamaal Williams played 28 snaps and AJ Dillon logged nine snaps before exiting with a quad injury. DFS players shouldn't assume Jones' role will change this week against Tampa's stellar rush defense.

Aaron Jones rushed six times for 27 yards in the Packers' NFC Championship Game loss to the Bucs before departing with a chest injury. 

Jones lost a fumble on the Packers' opening drive of the second half and wasn't heard from again despite being announced as "questionable." The FOX cameras caught Jones seemingly grimacing in agonizing pain near the end of the game. A "chest" injury could mean many different things, including a torn pectoral. Headed to free agency, Jones could be headed out of Green Bay after the Packers used a second-round pick on bruising AJ Dillon, who had flashes of greatness down the stretch. Jones cleared 1,000 yards rushing for the second straight year this season and averaged at least 5.5 yards per carry for the third campaign in four. He was arguably used too little in the passing game. Now 26 years old, Jones' status will be endlessly debated between now and March. He's going to be overpaid, but it will be as a three-down talent who has game-breaking potential both as a runner and pass catcher.

Top 5 money with little to no guaranteed money doesn’t really mean a whole lot, though. I mean, it sounds good, until the team lets you go two years into your four-year deal. 

 
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said the team would "love" to re-sign impending free agent Aaron Jones.

“We would love to have Aaron back," Gutekunst shared with media Monday. "I think he’s such an important part of our offense this year, he’s a dynamic player. He’s absolutely everything we want in a professional football player. So we’d certainly like to bring him back.” Jones' agent and the organization reportedly began discussions on a long-term deal back in September but no movement in either direction has been announced since. A.J. Dillon, Green Bay's second-round pick last year, could still potentially render Jones, 26, a perceived liability on the books before the latter officially becomes an unrestricted free agent in the new league year.

Jones is not going to be brought back by Green Bay. I think the Bakhtari deal is it for them as far as the high profile free agents on the team. Pains me to say but the writing was on the wall when they foolishly took a running back in the second round last year.

Foolishly? Jones turned down top 5 RB money from the Packers. Seems like they were wise to protect themselves with both Jones and Williams FAs

 
Jones probably wants $30m+ in guarantees and good luck to him in getting it. I hate to lose him as a player but those huge RB contracts usually kill you after a couple years.

I still cant believe they drafted a QB in the first round.  How stupid.  I mean for real.  Worst draft idea ever.

Edit....Q up the "rodgers was a 1st when they had favre" comments

I think the Packers will try to sign him to keep Rodgers happy....but Jones will have to meet them halfway. It is just bad business to sign 27 year old running backs to big contracts. Franchise tag seems to make more sense if they can afford it.

It is what it is. Doesn't really matter how the contract offer was structured in terms of whether it was foolish to draft Dillon or not. When you are entering the season and your top 2 RBs are FAs at the end of the season, drafting a RB in the 2nd round isn't foolish.

One of the allures to new RBs is you can bring them in when you need them and they can pretty much step right in.  I think I'd rather wait and see what happened with the free agents and bring in a RB if you find out you need one than draft one early and potentially waste a pick if you strike a deal with one of the guys you have.

Of course the fact that it came in the same draft as the Jordan Love thing is what really amplified it.
