RB Alvin Kamara, NO (2 Viewers)

I wonder what the guy said to Kamara's group. I've read that it was nothing more than calling one of them ugly. That doesn't sound right to me. I have to think it was much more hurtful. Is there anything it could have been which sort of makes the optics not look as bad? Sort of like what Mason Rudolph allegedly said the Myles Garrett. This bit of information is bound to come out eventually.

In my life's experience, I've found everybody who's gotten beat up at least had it coming a little bit. Probably like 99.5% of the time. Tho, dont take this as a justification for violence. More along the lines of, maybe people aren't quite as mad about after we find out.

Just a thought.

Either way, if you see Kamara out and about, treat him with respect for your own best interest.

Didn’t get to see any of the game, but disappointed in his usage. He is usually game script-proof due to his usage in the passing game but not much there today either. Bunch of carries for Hill. Only week 1 but sort of worrisome…..

I've got the same concern. I didn't watch the game either. Can anyone explain what happened exactly.

Alvin Kamara rushed nine times for 39 yards in the Saints' Week 1 win over the Falcons, adding three receptions for seven additional yards.

It was more of a pre-2021 statline for Kamara, except for the fact that his receiving production was underwhelming. Kamara's nine carries led the team, but he was out-gained 81-39 by Taysom Hill on the ground. That's a fluke, of course. The reduced work will probably remain going forward but should hopefully be good for Kamara's efficiency after a troubled '21 where he was asked to do too much for a weapons-bereft offense. Kamara should usually be in the 15-18 touch range with plenty of high-value handles. He remains a recommended RB1 even for Week 2 against the Bucs' strong run defense.

I love Kamara's talent but his use and the offense last year was a mess and I didn't understand why that would magically change this year. He will certainly get better but to compare him to the Brees days or think he was going to get close to that was a stretch. This will be an interesting situation to watch for sure.

I'm kind of the opposite as an owner. I think he is not all that talented but benefited tremendously from brees and the system. I had the opportunity to trade him last year and wish i took it

I think we can both agree that he benefited tremendously from Brees and the system. 🤝

You guys do know it’s the same system as before.

The three receptions for 7 yards are a huge dagger right now. Think Jameis was in F IT MODE and launched the ball downfield to success yesterday. The Saints were down big.

Saints defense needs to step up in a big way and keep games neutral to not too far behind.

He did, but he's also a tremendous talent - he makes it look so easy out there.

If you want to move Kamara I don't think this is the week to be fishing for offers.

His value ain’t getting any higher when they play the Bucs run D next week.

This could be as well high as it gets

Key words being If you want to move Kamara.

I’m holding in redraft. 6th in PPG a year ago, 6th in Consistency, 4th best % of RB1 weeks. If you think he’s washed and/or can’t succeed with Jameis, then you do you.

Sure, but that's been one of the things that's made Kamara so valuable - that regardless of game-script or situation, he's the centerpiece of the offense.

If you told me the Saints would be way down in that game, first I'd question your sanity because it's the Falcons, and second I'd be like "awesome, a 10+ reception game for AK!"

Instead it was :sadbanana:

This. Kamara glides like he's on skates. He also has great vision, instincts, hands, smooth cuts and underrated toughness/power. No doubt he benefitted from Brees/Payton, but I couldn't disagree more with the suggestion that Kamara isn't talented in his own right.

I has disappoint.

That should have been a BOOM game. Instead it was solidly meh.

What gives?

Reported rib injury may have played a role. Or just a fluky start to a new season. Or maybe Dennis Allen and Famous J don't know how to butter their bread. Next few weeks will help shed light, but there's always a least a bit of concern when a new regime starts out with a dud for a previous stud. Not overly concerned (yet).

Yeah, just read he was battling a rib injury. That can be devastating to a RB production.
It also would have been useful information to have for us fantasy owners before the game.

NFL teams care 10000x more about their own gameplans and secrets than our fantasy teams. Leaks occur, sure... But don't ever expect this type of info to come out from a competent team voluntarily, especially if the player doesn't miss practice the week before.

There is an art to talent evaluation as well as a subjective component so I'm always open to exploring contrarian opinions. But in many decades of playing fantasy football this Kamara is "not that talented" take is one of the most divergent and head scratching I can remember.

When you watch Kamara's tape you don't think his acceleration, contact balance, and versatility in the passing game are special? I would argue that he's wildly talented.

I've owned Kamara since his rookie year. I think he is good but I think Brees made him special. I don't see off-the-page talent here. His 2021 PFF grade (I know he has a bunch of excuses but most backs usually do) was simliar to marlon mack so I'm not the only one...

But as you said talent is subjective as well and it's just what i see...

Alvin Kamara (ribs) did not participate in Thursday's practice.

It's a downgrade from Wednesday, when he was limited. Kamara is likely a true questionable at this point for Week 2's game against Tampa Bay. Friday's practice report will tell us more of the story, but the injury perhaps is a little more serious than we thought it was after Wednesday.

Haven’t seen the Friday practice report yet, but In the four wins against bucs in the TB era, Kamara averaging only 2.6 yd per rush with 3 TD and 22 yd/game receiving with 1 TD.

Thinking about rolling with Edmonds-Etienne-Wilson.
