Agree.

I don't relish the idea of me dropping Jackson, Ekeler then aggravating the injury, and then me having to sweat the next 4 days until waivers run again to then see my opponent grab Jackson.

And beat me with him.

He's an rb1 every week.

Jackson is a nobody.  If Ekeler doesn't play Keenan Allen gets a boost, probably the Tes too (though good luck picking which one), but I wouldn't start Johnson unless I had nobody else.

 
(RotoWire) In reference to Ekeler (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Thursday night's contest against Kansas City, coach Brandon Staley noted Wednesday that "Austin is just sore, but we're going to make sure before the game that he's feeling OK," Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.  Analysis: Ekeler thus heads into Week 15 action viewed as a game-time decision, but in the wake of back-to-back listed limited practice sessions Tuesday and Wednesday, it would probably take a pre-game setback for the Chargers' top running back to land on the inactive list for Thursday night's 8:20 ET contest.

He played with the same injury last week, had 14 touches for 80 total yards and a td, and then was pulled at the half because the Chargers were so far ahead they didn't need him.  He managed to practice all week.   As long as he doesn't suffer a set back he's fine and will get his floor of 100 total yards and a td like he does every week because he's the best fantasy rb right now not named Taylor.  And they're playing the chiefs so it should be high scoring.

Don't over think it.

The odds on Ekeler backup RBs to score a TD went from +650 and +1200 to BOTH +350.

The sportsbook where I got those lines is offering significant “cash out” options on both of them as we speak…. That tells you all you need to know.

Well that does give me pause.   But I'm f-ed if he doesn't play so...

'Give it a go' is a phrase that worries me, just cause you want to hear that he's actually ready to play. Honestly, if he's active I don't see how you could ever bench him. 

 
Ekeler owners bothering with J. Jackson or J. Kelley?

Currently holding Jackson, but not sure it's worth it. Other needs to attend to and there are others on the wire (J. Howard, Jamaal Williams) that could produce as much if possibly needed.

Nope.  Wouldn't touch anyone else in that backfield.

 
He’s active and my only other option is Singletary but need to save him until I hear how Harris (NE) is doing . Don’t expect much tonight. Ankles are tricky.

Give him credit for playing.

Austin Ekeler rushed 12 times for 59 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers' Week 15 overtime loss to the Chiefs, adding four receptions for 23 additional yards. 

Playing through an ankle issue, Ekeler indeed had his plays scaled back — he entered halftime with only one more snap than Justin Jackson — but the Chargers compensated by giving him the ball almost every time he was on the field. His 16 touches were just one off his season average, while Ekeler did not appear to have trouble cutting or bursting upfield. The fantasy superstar has now found the end zone at least once in 11-of-14 games, totaling 17 scores. Ekeler's scoring prowess combined with his continued pass catching is putting fantasy managers in position to win leagues. That will be more true than ever against a Texans defense in Week 16 that just made a star of Rashaad Penny. Giddy up.

Touches clearly managed and he still got 17 ppr points.

And it looks like he came out of the game no worse. Now has more time to fully recover for a smash spot @HOU.

 
He looked fine moving around, disappointed he was on limited duty, but thanks to the TD, it could have been worse.

Hopefully this means with a long rest he'll be close to 100% next week (if I manage to survive to see it).

Would think so.

Would also think Staley has learned his lesson and that Ekeler will be in there on ALL high leverage situations (vs. having Kelley fumble away the game).

Jackson's performance was impressive. Have a feeling he'll get a tad more touches than previously, but not enough to dent Ekeler from elite status.

Chargers placed Austin Ekeler on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Center Corey Linsley and defensive end Joey Bosa were both added to the list as well. The Athletic's Daniel Popper added that there are more players to come. The NFL's recently updated COVID rules allow vaccinated players to return more quickly but this is still a bad sign for any of these players being able to suit up in Week 16. The only good news is that the Chargers face Houston in the coming week. As long Justin Herbert is under center, they'll be favored over the lowly Texans. If Ekeler is out, Justin Jackson would take over as the team's lead back. With Ekeler banged up in Week 15, Jackson led the Chargers with 13 carries for 86 yards. Joshua Kelley saw seven carries in that game and would have some deep FLEX potential as the lesser half of LA's backfield-by-committee.
