RB Braelon Allen, NYJ (1 Viewer)

Zack Rosenblatt
Braelon Allen always falls forward. Really hard to bring him down. He can be a legit weapon for the #Jets offense as a short yardage option this season.

I think he's everything the Jets hoped they would be getting with Dalvin Cook last year.

The Coachspeak Index
#Jets HC Robert Saleh on Braelon Allen:

“We picked him for a lot of reasons, because he’s actually really good out of the backfield and route-running, he’s really good in protection, too. We think he’s an all-around good back and he’s a very powerful runner, too, and he’s displaying that, down in and down out.”

I drafted him. I assume Rodgers will lean on the running game. Not to be cynical but guys who tear their ACL have a elevated risk of reinjury.

If Breece Hall goes down, this guy would go off. He might even go off time to time as a backup, but he's a great talent. If you own Hall and don't have this guy handcuffed, you're ****ing crazy.

Impressive physically, however doesn’t seem to run with the power you would expect from a guy his size consistently. Seems to be light on his feet at times and gets tripped up fairly easily. Not sure if it is his footwork or what, but almost seems too top heavy while running and has trouble maintaining balance on lower contact. Amateur observation and maybe something that is correctable.

Rodgers is too much of a narcissist to lean on the run game.
Actually the last time Rodgers finished in the top 10 in passing attempts per game was 2018, when he was 7th.

He doesn't chuck the ball all over the place like he may have done in the early part of his career, just incredibly efficient over the years.

Braelon Allen just trucked a guy on the second level. Didn’t see who it was, but I’m sure a fan video will surface somewhere. It was loud, and perhaps a case of the defender not expecting it in this environment; the video will tell us. #Jets

Later, the NYG look for receipts, as two guys go LIVE with Allen off the NYJ’s right side, tackling him in full near the sideline.

Braelon Allen is going to be an absolute force for the New York Jets behind Breece Hall this year

Through 2 preseason games, he's got:
14 ATT - 81 YDS - 5.8 YPC

Great breakaway speed already shown, while also always being able to move the sticks up the middle

Is Allen an almost much have if you are a Breece owner?

I would think so...so far the kid looks the part...if I owned Hall (I do not) I wouldn't outthink myself and would grab him sooner rather than later.
Yeah I think I will try and scoop him up now. I'll have to drop McLaughlin however.

Sucks to drop McLaughlin because I like him but if Hall went down who would you rather have...I think it is Allen pretty handedly.

I just got him with the last pick of our rookie draft at 4.12. I don't own him (in this league) but couldn't pass him up. Surprisingly, the Hall owner - who I find to be fairly sharp, particularly with draft picks - passed on him twice in the 4th round in favor of Shipley and Guerendo.

That makes no sense to me...in a vacuum they are all "lottery tickets" but if you already have Hall and you see the reports on Allen I don't understand the strategy there.

Wow, that is interesting. I am the Breece owner in our league. I grabbed Wright early and hoped to grab Braelon in the late second but he was gone by then.

I definitely get taking Wright over Allen.

The other guy who I could reasonably drop would be Trey Benson, but I took him late as I have Conner (Who seemingly always misses a game or two). Would you prioritize Benson, Allen or Wright?

I have Brooks too but no chance I am dropping him,

Redraft or Dynasty…who are all your RBs?

So he's Jamaal Lewis. Can't imagine coach wouldn't want this guy busting up linebackers in the 4th quarter. Keep your stud RB with a torn ACL healthy and have your upcoming 245 lb, 20 year old RB crushing linebackers and salting away the game.

Aaron Rodgers will have leads. Plenty of carries to go around for everyone.

Redraft. My RBs are Breece, Pacheco, Conner, Brooks, Benson, McLaughlin.

Allen would be my #1 because Hall is your stud and if he goes down that is your biggest exposure…I think you can make a case for either Benson or Wright…because you have Conner Benson makes sense but Wright is so intriguing…I would keep Wright and hope he pops because if he does it could be gigantic…also, reports have not been great on Benson so far.

The first 3 picks in my league were CMC, Breece and Bijan. I drafted Mason, Allen and Allgeir. The CMC waited too long to offer me anything for Mason, let’s see if the Hall owner is paying attention

I grabbed him in dynasty for the future as I dont think the Jets will have the $ to sign Hall after all the other contracts - now I think he is a legit every week contributor. Big upside

#Jets HC Robert Saleh on Braelon Allen:

“He’s a definite change of pace. I mean, he is a load, and a very, very dense, heavy runner… What’s really cool about him is that he’s good in the pass game, too. He’s smooth out of the backfield, he’s got really nice hands, and he’s really good in the protection game, and somebody that we trust if Breece [Hall] needs a break.”

Only drafted him on two dynasty teams, both of my Breece teams. Cheap. Used 3.12 and 4.10 on him.

One of my happier mid round picks I've made in awhile. Security now, seems like eventual starter down the road and if the wait is a few years he's I believe the youngest player in the NFL.

Before the season even started, some Jets beat writer was already saying he's been so impressive it could impact how they handle Breece's extension/franchise tag which will be after the 2025 season.

Love Braelon Allen. But was still a bit surprised by the split yesterday.

Snaps: Breece Hall 41-of-57, Braelon Allen 20

Routes: Breece 21-of-33, Braelon 12

Opportunities: Breece 22, Braelon 11

as a jet fan, makes me wonder why JD used a 5 on isaiah davis. he had hall, allen seemed a good pick, izzy a drafted last year.

Why would that be surprising? It’s a long season. Unlike Shanny, the Jets might not want to overuse their best offensive player in the first two weeks of the season.

i haven’t seen much written, but it seemed to me that hall got dinged early on around the thigh area. he was limping a bit and riding the bike on the sidelines. BUT, hackett calls the plays, so all bets are off when it comes to usage and sense.

Makes sense for both guys to see carries. Any team with a QB over 40 should be pounding the rock repetively.

Nothing safer than giving the ball to your RB and watching him go. Rodgers will take his chances deep on play action and hard counts.

Single coverage and free plays or we run the ball.

We starting him in flex this week?

He has to be under consideration. I have to think the Jets limit Hall at least a little and make this week's game a more even split given the Thursday night short turnaround plus the 10 days rest after, with Hall on the injury report with a quad all week (tho logging full practices and carrying no official designation for tomorrow night).

Personally, he's not my flex as I have better options, but he's certainly a thought.

And, I'll add: if you have Allen and you're facing the Hall owner this week and are a significant underdog, this is a great arbitrage/variance play to swing for the home run. If Hall has a reduced workload, the difference by going with Allen could swing you to an even-money or slight favorite on Sunday if things go that way. If not... you're gonna lose anyway. One of the few opportunities in H2H to let variance play a factor.

Own Breece in a few leagues, have Braelon as the ‘cuff in all of them.

Thee one league I don’t have Breece, I just added Braelon as a bench stash. Dropped Javonte. Tell me I’m smart?
