It comes down to calculus. Why compete with 30 other Teams for a commodity of marginal value, when you can give up something of little marginal value to cut out any other potential suitors.
WFT'skins would be simply trying to get something, before they get nothing (other than cap relief).
If there's compensatory pick value to be had, I don't think it would be much.
Too bad, he's a blue-collar, lunch-pail, stand up good locker room guy with a decent floor, and not much ceiling, esp in PPR.
A good NFL football player, and a good person.
I really like him as a member of the Team I root for above all others...but it wouldn't require much effort for them to find someone as good or with a higher ceiling once cuts start happening, I don't think.
