Eagles :: RB

Westbrook Status Still A Secret

Les Bowen, Philadelphia Daily News - [Full Article]

HC Andy Reid did not provide any details or anything new concerning RB Brian Westbrook's knee inflammation that had sidelined him for practices Thursday and yesterday. The Eagles again listed Westbrook as "probable". The Eagles haven't held out a "probable" player in recent memory. That doesn't mean Westbrook will be 100 percent tomorrow either, although Reid said, "Yeah, he should be," when asked the question. And it doesn't mean Westbrook's knee problem isn't something to be concerned about. Westbrook's primary backup is RB Correll Buckhalter, who got most of the practice reps after Westbrook left the field early Thursday.

This is an important divisional game, so I would imagine Westbrook will go if at all possible.

Bob Holtzman reported on ESPN this morning that Westbrook will start. The question remains how long he'll last.

Thanks Guys, nice job. I updated the title. Hopefully we'll find out before kick-off. Sounds like he will be limited at the very least. CBuck reportedly will get the start if BW can't go, and Moats will likely be more involved as well.

Mother )(#@)(()...seriously. I know nobody cares about my league, but it's the one time of year I go against my father, and he might not have his second best player?

So hypothetically -- If Westy can't go -- would any of you owners feel confident starting CBuck in his place? Or would it be pure RBBC with Moats?

Everyone has Buck as the backup or assumes he can stay healthy, get the 3rd guy, For the love of all that is holy ADD MOATS FAST! :tfp:

everyone keeps saying moats is the backup. but cbuck looks like the guy getting carries. plus he has the burst back while moats has fumbilitis.

I'm thinking it's going to be more of that. But, that's just what I've heard the past week, and what I saw last year. Who knows what actually happens...but I think it's too risky if you have other options.

Looks like he is good to go... hopefully he isn't pulled early.
Sal Palantonio says that Coach Reid told him Westbrook WILL START!
Ok lets hope hes productive now...I was hoping he wouldnt play that way he had a week to rest and Bulk would be the clear cut starter...
I think this is to important of a game to get pulled early - they will need to be dominating for this to happen. This smells more media driven than anything. Reid never waivered on Westy's starting status. Philly is going to need him today AND need him to have a big game.

If there is THIS MUCH mystery as to what's going on with him, he's not worth a start if you have other similar options.

For me, to the bench goes Westy and WDunn/RBush get the start.

They said what it was... The stpupid #### he used for his ankles cause inflmation in the knee.... That doesn't sound serious but perhaps what it sounds to me is a soreness..... I think he should be fine if he had anything concernign in his knee Reid would not play him... I think Reid was trying to confuse the giants a little as well...

I haven't heard anything other than probable and that he is starting from Andy Reid.
Per Rotoworld:Brian Westbrook will start for the Eagles in Week 2.He tested his knee before the game and coach Andy Reid felt confident using him. Westbrook is too explosive to bench in fantasy leagues despite the risk. Sep. 17 - 11:39 am et

Everything looks like he's a solid start to me. Would Reid risk playing him at all if he felt he would get hurt? I can't see it. Good Luck everyone.

You gotta start him if you have him. Even if he is limited and gets 10-15 total touches, he'll make the most out of those touches. And this a big game too, he'll be up for it.
