RB Bucky Irving, TB (1 Viewer)

The Coachspeak Index
#Bucs HC Todd Bowles on Bucky Irving:

“Buck’s a ballplayer. His height and his size do not magnify how good he is as a running back. He can run up the middle, he can catch the ball, he’s tough, he finishes runs, he’s very good at making the first guy miss in the hole, and he had a heck of a ballgame.”

Have a feeling white may be in trouble on early downs but makes up for it in ppr

Looks like a good player to target in redraft

Nathan Jahnke, PFF - NFL Week 1 Recap: Immediate fantasy football takeaways from Sunday's games:

Mar'Keise "Bucky" Irving cuts into Rachaad White’s playing time: Irving led the Buccaneers in rushing yards with 62.

White typically played around 80% of his Tampa Bay's offensive snaps last season, playing at least 70% of the team's offensive snaps in all but one game last season. The one exception was a blowout victory where he played 68% of those snaps. In this game, he played in just under 70% while the fourth-round rookie took significant time (31.7%).

Irving was the most effective rusher, averaging 6.9 yards per carry compared to White's 2.1. White’s fantasy value was fine in this game thanks to his six receptions for 75 yards. White was in danger of losing playing time the second Irving was drafted, but now it seems like that could happen sooner rather than later. Given Irving’s snap share in this game and good play, it wouldn’t be surprising if Irving plays a higher percentage of the early-down snaps sooner rather than later. White’s fantasy value could take a serious hit if Irving also takes the goal-line snaps. Because of Irving’s strong play, he should be one of the top waiver adds of the week.
I've seen him be called the wrong name a few times so I added his first name to the post.

let's talk Bucky Irving

among 43 RBs with > 5 rushes, Bucky ranked:

#1 in explosive rate (56%)
#2 in YPC (6.9)

meanwhile, Rachaad White ranked:

#41 in YPC (2.1)
#31 in explosive rate (27%)

more on Bucky & other top waiver targets from @RMSummerlin

Looking like Etienne / Bigsby and White / Irving is the same exact dilemma and snaps are going to the new guys.

Think he’s a hold, and as a White Dynasty owner I’m scared if they remove White from the goal line. I know he’s going to be money with receptions but the ceiling goes to **** without the goal line.

Still think it’s wait and see mode-

was able to get him on the WW, have him in some BB, but now get a chance to see what happens in my redraft league, I am very intrigued...

Over 275 underdog BB teams since the NFL draft, I’ve been all in on Bucky. Exposure 32% Irving 1% White. Bucky is my highest exposure for RB.

My take:
Last year White wasn’t very efficient running the ball. Sensed the team was looking for someone to take over but didn’t have anyone better on the roster. White was good for FF due to volume and ability to catch passes.

While Bucky isn’t my favorite RB in the draft, I believe he is a far more talented runner than White and in perfect position to lead the RB room in rushing yards, carries and TD this season. White is better suited as 3rd down pass catching back. Betting on Bucky to pay off big time as a 4th-5th RB on a best ball fantasy roster.

Anybody watch this game and evaluate how Bucky was used? Tring to assess his value moving forward...
The Lions were playing heavy boxes with 3 LBers. Very tough to run against. It was also a really weird 2nd half with Detroit dominating time of possession. Bucky is definitely a hold. He'll have better days.

Coen also had Irving and White on the field at the same time for several plays, which was a nice wrinkle to see, and bodes well for Bucky being even more of a featured part of the offense.

edit: Also with Goedeke out the Lions massacred the right side of the line on every play basically. If he comes back next week they'll be much better on offense. Skule was a disaster.

As a White owner I’m concerned for a taller RB that relies on his upper legs probably more than most and already has a pulled muscle. Could be a good flex showing for Bucky next week.

Bucky Irving handled 56% of the Buccaneers rushing attempts today.

Rachaad White played all four quarters but was primarily the passing-down option with 58% of routes. White was nursing a groin injury this week.

Irving is a must-add in most leagues. This might be a thing.

I've never been impressed with White. Watching Bucky play, there's a marked difference in speed and agility.
I think White does a good job getting YAC but have never been impressed when he is getting a handoff.
The site I saw they have White at 25th in total YAC yards and 28th in YAC average. Let's call him average. At best. Took 3 weeks, but it already feels like at 50/50 split.

Among RBs this year? That would be surprising. Just speaking more to how he generally looks to me. Much better in the passing game than the running.

Is YAC yards after contact or yards after catch? Or is it ambiguous?

HC Todd Bowles on why Rachaad White out-snapped Bucky Irving 42-18:“We were behind. We threw it a little bit more, Rachaad’s probably a better pass protector at this point, but Bucky has definitely earned more reps.”Bowles has an 80% reliability rating on usage/workload coachspeak

I mean film speak also shows who should be running the ball much more in this offense

I'm talking about after catch.

Oh. Clarification, I was posting his yards after contact. I will say he has proven to be a top RB catching footballs.

Saw that he might have hurt his hamstring in practice today. Not sure if the news is real but saw it on Instagram. Anyone know for sure?

Thankfully I didn't have to worry about starting him this week anyways, but this was the week that should've been the changing of the guard type game. If White plays poorly and Irving isn't there to prove his superiority, I fear we'll have another two weeks of committee provided Atlanta remains easy sledding.

That said, sounds like Irving is confident he'll play. Could just be an overabundance of caution to rest him up. Fingers crossed.

I'm hoping that after the Thursday game next week they use the 10 days off to install Bucky as the #1.

Anyone starting him tonight? In ppr doesn't seem to be getting many targets so in a time share relying on a TD makes me nervous.

Letting him sit this week. I have other similar players available and I hate these Thursday night games.

Yep, Gibbs and Dobbins are on bye, and my roster was shallow at RB to begin with. I don't know anything about Bucky, but thought it would be fun to give me an rooting interest in tonight's game.

Go Bucky! 🦫

Yeah, we R White owners feels the same way. The only difference is that we invested a 4th round pick and expected him to be our RB2. Now we are hoping for a 4-5 catches and a lucky TD.

he's probably a better runner than white but there were a couple of moments where i thought what is this kid doing...

He is a better RB. As a White owner I think this is a true RBBC. They are getting identical opportunities.

Oh I think so to but you can tell he doesn't see the field well...he hits the whole harder than white but he also seems to miss quiet a few
