RB Dalvin Cook, DAL (1 Viewer)

He has top notch elusiveness--he can juke, cut and fake out opponents better than anyone I recall in a long time.  His vision is also exceptional--always seems to pick the right hole and make the right cut at the right time.

Dalvin doing the same things he did his rookie year before the injury.

Once he stays healthy for 16 games people can get over the 'injury' label and can just call him what he is, one of the top RB's in the league.

May or may not be counter-intuitive here, but I’m really hoping the passing game sorts itself out and gets better so they don’t over do it with Cook and keep him healthy all year...probably a decent amount of disgruntled Diggs owner in my viewpoint here

He just moves at a different speed right now, but so did Gurley before arthritis kicked in.
except they have a completely different body type.....you can't compare these two RBs...they run completely differently and are built completely differently.

I think we've seen enough lately that league winning RBs can drop off the map at a moment's notice.

That's no knock on Cook, who I think is still undervalued because you can probably still buy him for less than CMC/Kamara/Zeke even though he will be in that tier when the dust settles.  I do think it has made me believe more than ever though that when you are in the midst of one of these transcendent RB seasons you need to do everything you can to win the title right then and there.  It's easy to get caught up in thinking you'll be able to just ride that wave again next year and sit back a little without going all-in on this season, but you just can't depend on that happening.

If you're a Cook owner and don't have Mattison, what are you offering to get him right now? What kind of offers are being accepted?

The Mattison owner asked for Tyrell Williams, I agreed.

Also if he's available how much of your budget do you need to spend this week to get him?

I haven’t really thought about it. As a Dynasty owner drafting Mattison was not in my plans. The owner who currently has Mattison doesn’t make trades. He holds onto guys he drafts waaaaay to long and I’ve already have Mixon/Gio, Gurley/Henderson so adding yet another “Handcuff” is not an option.

If he is on your wire I don't see why people would be picking him up going into the Bears game?

I think you could pick him up for minimum after waivers clear but maybe not. I wouldn't want to spend more than 5% for the guy.

I suppose he did score. Maybe I am underestimating his value because I think Cook is going to be fine.

I acquired him between end of preseason and week 1. I knew the Mattison owner wanted a young, promising WR and I didn't have one for him. I traded Vance McDonald for Tre'Quan Smith. Mattison owner was ok with Smith and so that's what got the deal done. Guessing it wouldn't now though given that Smith has disappointed and Mattison has looked good in real game action.

I would spend 40% to get him. Cook is probably a huge part of your scoring. If he goes down Mattison will be effective filling in. Some handcuffs are just JAGs but I think Mattison is good in his own right.

I knew I should of taken him over Leveon in one league.

Stay in there all season kid!
As much as I am still bitter he didn't fall to me in my draft (snagged in the pick right before mine), it is really good to see Cook finally healthy and showcasing his talent and ability.

It really is fun to watch.

he's incredibly fast and shifty. as an owner who got him at 2.9 I'm very pleased. but I can't get to the waiver wire fast enough to pick up A. Mattison this week. then I can rest easy

Ditto. Just got Mattison in waivers and can breathe a little easier right now

why would he go for 40% this week if he was on waivers weeks 1-3?

Bears DT Akiem Hicks (questionable, knee) is not expected to play Week 4 against the Vikings.

Hicks wasn't able to practice this week after injuring his knee in Monday night's win over Washington. Well-regarded for his run-stopping prowess, Hicks' absence is an obvious upgrade to Dalvin Cook's matchup.

Dalvin Cook tacked on 35 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries while adding six grabs for 35 yards on eight targets Sunday in Minnesota’s Week 4 loss to the Bears.

Even without two of their top pass-rushers, Akiem Hicks (knee) and Roquan Smith (personal), Chicago's defense was still suffocating, holding Cook to season lows in virtually every stat. Game script didn't help either as Minnesota was forced to abandon its running game in the second half. Cook salvaged the day for fantasy owners with a late goal-line plunge, ruining Chicago's shutout bid while extending his touchdown streak to four games. Cook fell short of 100 yards rushing, a threshold he had reached in each of his previous three games, though his usage in the passing game (season-high eight targets) was encouraging. Despite Sunday's disappointment, Cook should remain firmly on the RB1 spectrum next week when the Vikings visit the Giants in East Rutherford.

Dalvin Cook rushed 21 times for 132 yards and caught 6-of-6 targets for 86 yards in the Vikings' Week 5 win over the Giants.

Cook was a beast all game long. He was constantly beating defenders to the edge on outside runs and wasn't shying away from contact while running up the middle. As a receiver, Cook had space to pick up chunk gains, but he was somehow kept out of the end zone. That's the only bad thing to say here. Cook is an elite fantasy RB right now with volume and talent on his side. The Eagles' defense gets after it against the run, but Cook is firmly inside the top-five at the position regardless of matchup.

what happened today, 16-41-1 or something like that? I know it was a good defense they played, but is there a pitch count for Cook now? if the Vikes are ahead by X pts, we bench him for Mattison?

Probably just a victim of game plan.  Eagles secondary is horrible so I’m guessing the Vikings felt the best way to win was through the air.

Yeah Philly defense is 2nd in the NFL in rush defense and 27th in pass defense so not a total surprise that the game went the way it did.

It does seem like Minny is willing to let Mattison run the clock out instead of Cook when the game is out of hand, which is probably smart but not the greatest for us from a fantasy standpoint.  Fortunately the Vikes don't often have 18 point leads in the 4th quarter.

Dalvin Cook rushed 25 times for 142 yards and two touchdowns in Minnesota's Week 7 win over the Lions.

It was par for the course for Cook, who's now either eclipsed the 100-yard barrier or scored in 6-of-7 performances on the season. He had the advantage over Detroit's d-line coming into the day with both Mike Daniels (foot) and Da'Shawn Hand (elbow) inactive — a situation that only got worse following DT Damon Harrison's (groin) first half exit. Cook capped Minnesota's 15-play, 97-yard drive in the second quarter with a blowing eight-yard touchdown run, tacking on his second with less than two minutes remaining in the final quarter to put the Vikings up by two scores and inevitably ice the game. The added threat of Kirk Cousins' surgical play has ultimately made Cook a matchup-proof RB1 worth starting each and every week. That won't change on Thursday in a magnificent spot against the Redskins.

Dalvin Cook rushed 23 times for 98 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings' Week 8 win over the Redskins, adding five receptions for 73 additional yards.

That adds up to 171 yards from scrimmage, a total Cook has now reached three times this season. With half the year in the books, he's on pace for a scintillating 2,232. Winning leagues, Cook has found the end zone nine times. His only blemish vs. the Redskins was a drop. With 10 days to rest up for Week 9, Cook has a gorgeous spot in the Chiefs' subpar run defense in a game that's sure to be a shootout.

Wow, he looked special as a rookie and I thought he would be really good this year but, man he...just...man.

He has been playing in the past with a broken wheel. We are finally seeing what he can do when healthy.  I saw his college tape and was impressed by the vision, the ability to cut and change direction, and by his elusiveness. All of that is on display this season. This guy is Grade A good.

potential top 5 guy for years if he stays healthy....that's been the only challenge.  Great all around back, one of the best in the NFL if healthy, and the line still has lots of room for improvement so there's upside too in my opinion.

His measureables are completely irreconcilable with the way he looks on the field.  Dude looks like he is shot out of a cannon out there and his cuts are on a friggin' dime translating into instant acceleration as soon as his feet hit the ground, yet his Sparq scores were terrible.  It's like he had someone else take the test for him at the combine.

I've learned to count on-field production against top notch competition more highly than the Combine. The GOAT of All Time ran like a 4.7 forty (Rice).  And there are so many work out warrior guys who had great Combines who never did anything.

I think, to some degree, we all knew about his burst and change of direction but what is really surprising me is his willingness, and effectiveness, to absorb contact and drive forward.  For example, that TD was all him and he did it multiple times gaining a yard or two after being hit solidly.

I thought he had Top 3 potential, but had I expected him to be this good I would have taken him at 1.9 instead of Conner and not risked losing him before 2.4

Got lucky though and not complaining.
