Me toohonestly I'm probably just avoiding that entire backfield if I can help it.Hold My Beer!
-Cook had off season shoulder surgery and played sparingly last season, feels this is the best he's been physically in some time.
If Coach BB could have squeezed more from Zeke last year he would have, nobody is buying Zeke as a 1,000-1,200 yd guy in Dallas plus age can raise injury concerns
Rico is unproven and hasn't been getting rave reviews in camp
There's a situation where Cook exceeds some of the very low bars people have of like 150-200 yds, I can see him with a couple muscle strains ahead of him suddenly being leaned on
And what if he does step foot out there and looks good on limited touches almost forcing his way for more touches in upcoming games?
But he hasn't looked good lately, he needs to show he still has some gas left in the tank
There is no scenario anywhere that will allow Rico to be a league winner. Sorry. No, but he can cause Rico to slide a little further in drafts making Rico a league-winner.Could he be a league winner?
Actually I agree with this. Maybe if teams take pity on him and just let him score. There is no scenario anywhere that will allow Rico to be a league winner. Sorry. No, but he can cause Rico to slide a little further in drafts making Rico a league-winner.Could he be a league winner?

I spent like 20 minutes watching some 2023 snaps yesterday. He still looks like he can get what’s blocked for him.
My thing is … isn’t this a bit redundant? Two 29yo backs with a ton of mileage on their legs, who probably won’t play much special teams? Strange.
I picked Cook up to stash him while the situation plays out.I've always been a Zeke guy. One of my favorite smack talks is posting the Zeke eating gif to all my league mates when he scores. Always fun. Was hard to watch him last year. When you need 1 yard he gets you 1 yard. When you need 5 yards he gets you 1 yard. Seen a few clips of training camp and it looked rough. Having said all that. Zeke is the only guy, outside of Cook staying healthy, from keeping Cook from being a flex option. Imo
I was being hyperbolic saying I'd rather have an empty bench spot than Cook. And obviously this is just my opinion and I could be completely wrong. But RBs currently on a lot of waivers I'd gladly take over Cook: Jordan Mason - SF, Justice Hill - Bal, Samaje Perine - KC, Emanuel Wilson - GB, and Pierre Stong - Cle. I think they are all in better situations, closer to touches if not already more guaranteed to get them, and likely more talented/dynamic/higher upside than Cook at this point.I picked Cook up to stash him while the situation plays out.I've always been a Zeke guy. Cook had a solid 2022 but people were disappointed because he had definitely last a step. I’ll throw last year out because of the Rodgers situation and the Jets terrible OL. Breece averaged 4.5 YPC because he is elite and broke off a decent amount of long runs. Most RBs would have sucked in that situation.
Cook isn’t what he was, but to say he has no chance to become the most productive back of the current Dallas RBs is off base IMO. That is something that could definitely happen. Most teams have a bench spot that makes that gamble worthwhile. Plus the answer should be pretty quick. By week 2 probably.
A. Perine had a choice in the matterWhy sign cook when Perine is out there?
Never underestimate a 7 year vets lack of desire to go through a complete training camp. I don't know Cook. I will say, I wouldn't be surprised if he had no intention of going through a complete training camp. Would he rather train from home, post some videos, and spend time with his family or be treated like the new guy and grind out yet another training camp? Who knows for sureLet's be real here, there's a reason he had to wait until a week before the season after other plays were cut to get his opportunity.
I agreeFor me, the primary constraint is that I don't think there's anything that Dalvin Cook does at this stage in his career that Rico Dowdle doesn't already give you.
Based on camp reports, sounds like Zeke is the one who is cooked. If they liked Cook more than Dowdle... why keep Dowdle on the team all offseason and not sign Cook earlier?
Cook, in my opinion, is... well... cooked. I feel like the Cowboys signing him is like that one guy in your FF league who signs a vet based on name alone and you wonder if he knows something that you don't (spoiler: he doesn't).
I kind of agree that Elliott is the guy who is probably cooked (pun intended). One must not be closed minded about Dalvin Cook and I'm guilty of writing veterans off when I shouldn't. I'll keep an open mind for now.Based on camp reports, sounds like Zeke is the one who is cooked. If they liked Cook more than Dowdle... why keep Dowdle on the team all offseason and not sign Cook earlier?

Not going to put much stock in last year. Dalvin worth an end of bench stash until this plays out IMO.
Cook might just be cheap vet insurance.
I drafted him for nothing in 2/4 leagues. I hope he’s rightBut he seems to think Rico is the starter in Dallas right now.
Finley?Bump...
Will this be an Adrian Petersonesque late career resurgence caused by the Cowboys' RB room woes where Cook finds the fountain of youth?![]()

Well. One is chubby and one is not. I prefer my older rbs to not be chubby. Who knows what Cook has left. Looks like we about to find out. With what's ahead of him on the depth chart it isn't gonna take much to be the lead back. Does this translate into even rb3 numbers? Who knowsI just don't see how Cook gives them anything different from Elliot at this point.
Agreed. My unconscious bias is showing again when I gloss over his name but in the NFL the strangest things HappenAs strange as it sounds, it might not be a bad idea to grab Cook and stash him at the end of the bench if you have room and are not giving up much. In this weird year, when you have reclamation projects like Kareem Hunt showing out, you never know.
Exactly. And it's pretty much just Dowdle at this point. Zeke is pretty much cookedIt's not as if their current RB room is hard to overcome.
The last I saw Cook, he was arguably worse than Zeke. Neither Cook nor Zeke has been relevant in a while.Exactly. And it's pretty much just Dowdle at this point. Zeke is pretty much cookedIt's not as if their current RB room is hard to overcome.
Why does Jones still like Elliott? Is he stupid enough to think he’s still a good player?I live in Dallas and if not this week Cook will be activated next week. Remember a practice squad player can only be elevated three times. After that he is automatically waived or officially signed to the active roster.
TBH it really doesn’t matter if Cook is decent. It’s going to be a three headed committee. Cause Jerry Jones won’t ever make Zeke inactive. So as a general rule in FF. We stay away from three headed RBBC.

Jerry is all about the $ and looking good.
He signed Zeke to a 2 million deal.
The old fart can’t stand wasting money.
So Zeke will be active to earn that pay.
This is the downfall of the Cowboys. The owner is also the GM. No roles of separation. So you’ll see players on the field who should belong on the street.
You will go on suicide watch should Breece Hall go down.Just elevated from the practice squad.
I picked him up. Dropped B. Allen.
Who the heck knows? K. Hunt rolled out of bed and is now killing it for KC. Stranger things have happened.

You hold a guy all season, then finally give up, and then it's his turn.
What can you do.
Can only hope you have more hits than misses.
