RB De’Von Achane, MIA (3 Viewers)

I may hold him for these next couple weeks, then reevaluate depending. If he doesn't start trending for more work with Ahmed NP and Wilson still out I don't know when it will happen.
Kind of where I’m at. I love having a lottery ticket on this offense but Mostert has looked great, Wilson may return soon and Ahmed has been used as well. Seems A LOT of things would need to break right for Achane to have startable value.

Talent wins out. The next 2 weeks should determine how talented Achane is.

He's not unseating Mostert minus a major injury, keep that in mind

Best projections for whenever they utilize him, 8-10-12 touches tops per game.
I'm glad folks have forgotten about him

Miami is 2-0 and being hailed as 1 of the best teams in the NFL
If it ain't broke don't try and fix it...

Denver game will be closer than some folks think, just my opinion

Split the middle and he gets 10 touches a games, he should be pretty useful during bye weeks.

Assuming the Dolphins roll Denver at home, Achane could play a bigger role in the 2nd half Sunday. My RB 2 is a total shiot show right now so might put him in and hope he gets 3-4 catches and breaks a long one.

You mean the 31.5 year old running back that has played in every game of the season exactly once in the previous 7 years of his career? 16, 16 (17 game season), 11, 8, 7, 2, 1 and 1. That's how many games per season Mostert has seen since coming into the league in his previous 7 years. He's 2/2 in year 8, but the reality is this guy just isn't going to be an every down back every week this season. He'll be spelled at the least whether that be by Wilson, Ahmed, or Achane.... or injured (again) at the worst. They drafted Achane because his elite skillset fits this offense to a T, with a 3rd round pick no less. Achane will get a little more run this week. Now it's on him to do something with the opportunity. If he shows out with Wilson and Ahmed watching, at the least his opportunity will increase if Mostert stays healthy or not. This guys catches the ball as well as almost any true RB I've ever seen and his speed and explosiveness very much translate to the NFL. Let' see what happens.

I compared Achane to Warrick Dunn in terms of RB hands
I know Mostert well, I was very concerned when they brought him in and thought he was a 1 year gap.
-He was held out of maybe 1 game last year, Chase Edmonds was actually the 1A/1B on this team to start 2022, Edmonds is now on his 4th or 5th team at this point
That's why they traded a 5th to get Wilson so Mostert would not be overused for the season
Mostert had just under 200 carries for 2022, and this season he had 10 carries week 1, 18 week 2
Last year from weeks 4-8 Mostert had about 14-16 carries weekly with little variance and he did not produce huge numbers during that stretch
Miami traded for Wilson about that time and Mostert would not have more than single digits for numbers of carries until weeks 13 and 14.

-I said all that to show you I'm not obtuse, and also I'm a lifelong fan of the Phins, please humor the Phinsfans and don't root for Mostert to miss time.

Well I dropped Kincaid. I figured he seems to be in a timeshare with Knox and can't be a factor and I got Henry so..... Welcome aboard Achane. I'm on the train.

I'm wondering, with Waddle out, if McDaniels will scheme him into the gameplan with a few screens and such. Either way, he's gonna write up some plays to get this dude in in open space.

He's a permanent hold on my bench until his time comes, which I'm fairly confident will, at some point this season.

To what extent do you think time will come means? I doubt he’s a heavy work load type of guy.

During the 2022 regular season, no Miami RB had more than 18 carries in a game. I count 5 times Miami had 2 RBs with 8 carries in a game. That's about what I expect for Achane with a few receptions mixed in. He's better than Jeff Wilson and MIA will run the ball more in 2023, plus the oline and oline coach are better. Achane had 16+ carries in 9 of 10 games at A&M in 2022, including 36 carries vs LSU. He can carry the load, but that's not coach McDaniel's MO. His chance to impress is now. He needs to hold up in pass pro the 1 or 2 times he'll be asked to.

He's definitely not a bellcow but around 13-15 touches is all he needs to be fantasy viable. Around 10 carries out of the backfield and 3-5 targets is definitely possible and he can take any touch to the house if he gets the chance. I'm confident that McDaniels will put him in the best possible position to succeed i.e. scheming him into the gameplan to create mismatches/getting him into open space.

It's developing into a wonderful 1-2 punch at RB, that will be the nightmare for teams if Miami has a sustainable running game, LOOK OUT!

Achane looks slippery and FAST! I tried to tell y'all, be first on a player like this. If you wait, you'll have to overpay or not get him at all. Potential league winner.

He's can run between the tackles, as can be seen on several plays. And he also showed between the tackles ability in college. Very good receiver. Only issue is pass blocking.

He looks way better than Gibbs on detroit and the Gibbs page is talking like the guy is going to put up 2000 yards this year

Gibbs was good today. But Achane has more of a between the tackles body (in a small package) and skill set IMO. Both are threats to take it to the house. Many of our DET FF brothers questioned taking Gibbs so early, especially @BobbyLayne
