RB De’Von Achane, MIA (1 Viewer)

Mostert owner and CBS has him with the knee injury, questionable for week 6. I'm sure that's a mistake and they have the wrong running back. Looks like a Mostert week. I was fine with the split as I think being fresh helps both. In my league they are ranked 2nd and 3rd in scoring. Unreal. And none of it looks flukey. Their passing game makes the running game better. Nobody's dropping safeties down when you have Tyreke. Hope this is a minor thing - Achane is special.

187lb NFL RB things. Speed backs that small are fun to watch but not built to last.
I don't think the knee had anything to do with his size. Even 220+ lb backs often get their knees bent in awkward positions when tackled.
Achane already got carted off the field with a shoulder injury in a pre-season game. I wonder if that didn't have anything to do with his size either?
Anthony Richardson would probably say no.

Of course, I own both :kicksrock:

If size mattered to fluke knee injuries Nick Chubb would still be playing this year. Size didn't help Saquon from getting rolled up on either? Jon Taylor? Nope, not him either? Wake up people. The size argument going in here is absurd. Dude played in the SEC, against elite competition as the lead ball carrier, and seemed to hold his own just fine. I'd be looking to buy if you can. The problem these days is that all the rules to protect players' brains is causing tackling techniques that are extremely dangerous to lower extremities. The artificial turf doesn't help, either and the combination of factors will continue to lead to ankle/knee/hip injuries until they allow ball carries to be hit high again or we simply switch to flag football...

I'd be concerned about any of my players going for an MRI, especially one that is electric. He does have depth at the position though with Wilson coming back. The size argument only makes sense if talking about a dude taking big hits when finishing plays. Otherwise, fluky injuries happen all the time to big and small players.

Could have sworn Achane came back and played after that tackle?

Interviewed at his locker after the game and he was all smiles.

Maybe woke up sore this morning?

He didn’t get any more Carries but he did go back in, I did see him limp off

I see the injury speculated as high ankle or knee, so hoping in that discrepancy is not major.

I 100’percent hope he’s a precautionary sit this week

This guy seems like a high performance race car. I wouldn't think this is the type of player you want "toughing out" an injury.

Yeah the injury/size thing only seems to come up when it's a smaller player. Meanwhile Bryce Young played this week.

For what it's worth:

I think Achane may have hurt his knee earlier based on what coach MM said and my observation that he looked hurt earlier. He didn't return after the ankle got twisted. Wild guess, MCL, and not ankle. Can someone run with an ACL tear?

>>McDaniel said the injury was sustained during Sunday’s win against the Giants, when Achane ran 11 times for 151 yards and a touchdown. Achane returned to the game after the injury and didn’t complain about it to reporters afterward.

Achane stood at his locker room stall after the game, was in a good mood and did not appear in visible discomfort, according to those who interviewed him. “He thought he might have something [after the game], but he is such a tough kid it was kind of tough to read,” McDaniel said.<<

I’m going to need some spark notes.

I can’t watch that guys videos, even though sometimes I feel like they have good info.

Yeah and Saquan Barkely wrecked his knee one year and this year has a severely sprained ankle….wonder if he is too small too….

Such a ********* eval.

You ever see Warrick Dunn?

Jesse Morse speculated ankle sprain, severity TBD. But McDaniel said it was a knee.
Nothing against the Dr. Morse fans, but I think he’s a bit of a self-serving quack.

I agree he's a quack promoting unproven expensive therapies. But his team is good at FF injuries and were the first to report the Achane injury, AFAIK.

I think one thing I've personally come full circle on being a sports fan for so long is I no longer correlate injuries with someone because they are smallish for the position. Injuries happen. Injuries happen to big monster guys. Achane hurt his knee. It's not a moment to scream from the mountain top that it's because of his size. It's because football is a damn dangerous sport.

Good post. Sprained ankles and knees happen a lot. Achane didn’t seem that banged up.

The NFL is starting to understand the prototypical RB size from the year 2000 may not necessarily be ideal in today's NFL. There are many reasons why players who may not have succeeded 25 years ago at running back might just be the new prototype in today's NFL. Reasons include new rules, amended rules, faster linebackers, faster safeties, faster defensive ends, running back by committee across the board, lower running back salaries, defensive philosophy, offensive philosophy, defensive philosophy and base sets, and the list goes on. The NFL is changing their thinking, so should you.

Dolphins fan forum saying “Rumors“ are MCL sprain, usually a 2-4 week injury.
Achane should've had the MRI yesterday so the fans may know something. That was my wild speculation upthread, but I hope I'm not the source for this rumor cause I know nothing.

What is Wilson's status? Is he likely to come in and back up Mostert next game?
Yes, he should be the primary backup to start, potentially 1B soon after. Chris Brooks looks like a younger & bigger Jeff Wilson, and Ahmed is faster and the best receiver and knows the offense. Wilson is a possible flex until Achane returns.

A little surprising there is no official word yet.

News broke yesterday on J. Jefferson and J. Conner.

Not sure if this is a good or a bad sign.

Also surprised Achane owners aren't screaming bloody murder that their league winner may be out a while.

Has to be a good sign he hasn’t been placed on IR yet.

Dolphins only has 3 IR designations left for this year...they need to hold onto those if possible. It certainly seems he needs rest, but I think they're gonna hold onto those designations for stronger needs.

That is certainly playing into this.

Dammit, why cant we have nice things..... What's the move to snag a piece of this backfield, Ahmed or Brooks for now?

Strictly from a keeper/dynasty perspective, my longer-term concern with Achane is that McDaniel may be more reticent to give him bigger workloads, as the trend seemed to be heading. While Achane has proved he doesn’t need huge workloads to put up huge numbers, we also can’t expect that incredible efficiency all the time.

Yeah, no shiot

Finally get a decent combination of RBs to start in my 14 teamer. Now it's back to the garbage bin for RB2

Oh I have been
I'm well into the 12 steps of grief by now.
I have Jefferson and Achane so it’s 24 steps of grief.
Achane, Saquon and Aaron Jones here :banned:

So it'll be Kyren Williams and flexing WR/TE for a bit
