RB DeeJay Dallas, ARZ (1 Viewer)

The point is that Dallas isn't going to supplant anyone on that roster as soon as they're healthy. Yes, 2 TDs is good.

But that fantasy production is ready for pure regression and if he's not a good player there's not much value in redraft once one of Carson and Homer and Hyde return. There's also not much value in dynasty based on his production.

Maybe you ride him for another week if Carson doesn't come back. But he didn't do a single thing that was impressive thus his future is dim. Contrast this to handcuffs or valuable backups like Pollard, Snell, Edmonds, Davis, Gus Edwards, etc.

Dallas' only path to production is zero competition. If he doesn't have competition great. If he does... well, he'd better become a drastically better play than he was the last two weeks.

Dang, I really didn't expect them to both be out. Fortunately I was still able to pick up Dallas. Until now I was sorrowfully looking at starting Nyheim Hines.

His market share was pretty solid. He had 18 rushing attempts and 5 receiving targets. It's hard to argue with that volume.

I could see something similar to that  this week perhaps some small regression. I have him in my lineup over Gurley in a game I need to win.

Chasing points? Maybe, but  opportunity is king and this week he could get that volume opportunity. It worked well last week.

He is a rental no doubt but not a bad rental.

Update:  Alex Collins has been added to the roster.  Travis Homer still not ready or a 3 headed committee?
Not sure I would sour on Dallas due to Collins being added but if Homer is active, I would likely fade the whole backfield.

I’m gonna have to play Dallas or RoJo against the Saints, which doesn’t feel like a great situation right now.

Might be DeeJay SZN for my rosters.

Seahawks RB DeeJay Dallas played 31 percent of the team's offensive snaps in Week 9 against the Bills.

It's a far cry from Dallas' Week 8 role against the 49ers, when he played 79 percent of the snaps and got 18 of the team's 20 rushing attempts with Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde sidelined. Travis Homer (knee) was apparently healthier in Week 9 than he was the week before, resulting in nine touches for 80 yards against the Bills. Alex Collins also ate into Dallas' workload against Buffalo. Fantasy players should hang on to Dallas for now but should recalibrate their expectations for the rookie, even if Carson and Hyde miss another game. Homer has some PPR value if Hyde and Carson remain out.

DeeJay Dallas (arm/wrist) practiced in full on Wednesday.

Travis Homer (knee) also practiced in full. Meanwhile, Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde both missed Wednesday's session. Dallas went from a heavy workload in Week 8 to playing just 31 percent of the team's snaps in Week 9. Expect this backfield to be split until Chris Carson returns.

I ended up playing Antonio Brown instead a difference of a little over 5 points in DJ's favor. It did not cost me the week but still should have just thrown him in over Brown.  Can you cut him now? I think so.
I wouldn't cut Dallas until Hyde and Carson are clear to play. Even if Homer had more snaps, this game is going to be a shootout with the Rams. I don't see why he can't have another 50-60 yds and a TD.

Homer would be utilized more in a shootout though, he's the far-better pass catcher.

dallas gets the red zone looks on an offense that scores a lot of points. until carson or hyde are back this guy is a decent 2nd rb if your shorthanded.

That's not really true my friend. Dallas has more targets and his catch % is just as high, i wouldn't say Homer is a far-better pass catcher. Also they played at the same school that.I root for every Saturday and I didn't notice that Homer was a far better catcher in college either. I think they both can catch the football when thrown to, my opinion.

Homer definitely had more snaps last week, no debate there.

Regardless of stats, Homer was used as a 3rd-down pass-catching back and in hurry-up two-minute drill scenarios going back to when both Hyde and Carson were healthy.

That was Homer's roll before his injury and, as evidence by last week, is still his role.

The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar believes that DeeJay Dallas "has a shot to be the team’s primary third-down running back."

Dugar noted that Dallas looked like the best route-runner from Seattle's backfield but still needs to work on his pass-blocking to secure the role. That would be a major blow to Rashaad Penny, who is also in play as an option on third-downs. Penny was a serviceable pass-catcher in college but has been unable to get on the field in any capacity since joining the league. He has appeared in 27 games over three years and has yet to make his first official start. Chris Carson is also in the mix for receiving duties. He looked comfortable when asked to catch passes last year, tying his career-high in receptions (37) in just 12 games. Dallas won't be a viable fantasy option even if he does secure the role but that would remove Penny from draft boards and take some upside off the table for Carson.

He's in the mix as the no huddle back it seems. I'd expect him to be the full 3rd down back if Collins is out.

DeeJay Dallas had four rushes for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' Week 11 loss to the Cardinals, adding one catch for two yards.

Rashaad Penny got the start and looked destined for the magical larger role fantasy managers were promised, but he suffered a hamstring injury on the opening play and was limited the rest of the way. Dallas did match Alex Collins in snaps from that point on despite seeing six fewer carries, and he was more effective with his work. With Seattle desperate for answers on offense, it would not be shocking to see Dallas take on a bigger role moving forward.

Bumping this - some discussion in the pinned waiver wire thread about him.

Carson done, Collins not taking hold of the job,  Penny hurt yet again, Homer?

Anything to see here?

Grabbed him in dynasty. Overbid on FAAB hugely but can't take it with you and seeing a better option this year seems hugely unlikely but what the heck, why not. May as well see if anything develops, I do own Collins so it makes a bit more sense than otherwise, although I doubt he'd see the lineup if anything happened on that front anyway.

Disagree.  He's a former WR turned RB that is a net benefit to a QB who needs quick dumps. Guy was a 4-star U Miami recruit who can make guys miss. Seattle took him in the 4th round despite his limited body of work (elbow injury ended his college career).  What's that tell you?

Dallas > Collins > Homer

The Seahawks seem to disagree

The other overarching problem is that this offense looks broken right now. They can't run to pass or pass to run.

Brady Henderson @BradyHenderson

The Seahawks’ backfield is banged up. Rashaad Penny and Travis Homer were non-participants today. Alex Collins, who’s been the No. 1 option with Chris Carson on IR, was again limited with an abdominal injury. He’s been a regular on the injury report due to his groin.

If you are keeping score as of Friday night: Penny and Homer DNP, and Collins is very banged him with a iffy groin/abdominal muscle issue. Dallas should be looking at plenty of rushing attempts and RB dumpoffs Monday night.

Getting a Tony Jones feeling here that there will be a lot of expectations, but he’ll do little and it will evolve into some sort of RBBC. Or Pete will sign someone off the street like he did with Collins.

Worth a stash if you have room, I guess. My only option in my deep keeper league is to drop Etienne, which I’m not willing to do.

Must be blitz pickup or other nuances that are keeping Carroll from playing Dallas more. He might not be that good, but sure can't be worse than Collins at this point.

At this point, there seems no reason to give Dallas a long look, but doubt it happens even with Collins and Penny being free agents after this year.

Put me in the camp that I don't think Collins has looked that bad. I think the whole offense has stunk so it's really hard to judge him.  It doesn't matter who you put back there they just can't block (pass/run) and the play calling is bleh

I think Collins was a lot healthier than I first thought also, so he was going to get the work. I'll check the numbers but I don't think Collins is that much superior to Dallas that DeeJay couldn't get on the field.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports DeeJay Dallas (ankle) is not expected to play in Week 14 against the Panthers.

Ken Walker is also expected to miss Week 14 because of an ankle issue, paving the way for Travis Homer to see a massive role in his first game back from a knee issue and an illness. Tony Jones will also pick up some extra work, though Homer is the only back worth betting on for fantasy purposes. Homer will rank as an RB2 for Week 14.
