RB Derrick Henry, BAL (3 Viewers)

We're watching a future hall of famer in Henry.  IMO he's this generation's Barry Sanders.  Not in style of play or body type, but because I would watch a TEN game, or back then a DET game, solely to see Henry or Sanders play.  They're the only reason to watch these teams for people like me who aren't fans of the teams.  I would look forward to seeing the Lions play on Thanksgiving only because I could see Sanders play.  Otherwise I never cared about or went out of my way to see a DET game.

I only own him in one spot. Drafted him at 1.07 and have been patiently waiting for him to be the #1.

When he came out, I remember a couple people arguing that Henry was the most dominant/productive RB in high school football history, college football history, and that he would excel in the NFL.

I expect Lewis to be a part of that, but I expect Henry to be the man. He could be undervalued right now.

JOSH GORDON IS BACK!!!!!
Yes this was found in the Henry thread. It always fits.

We obviously still have the draft to get through, but is there anyone in here that really thinks the Titans *aren't* going to feature Henry? If you had to bet on it right now.
There were.

19.8 points per game in PPR over his last 14 games, when he became a workhorse. Good for RB4.

ETA He missed the endzone in only 4 of those last 14 games, and in those 4 he still averaged 9.25 points in PPR. I mean, is that really horrible to some people?

For the record, I'd say it is more likely he has one of those 10/14 games than one of those 4/14 games, moving forward. I don't own Barkley so I haven't looked at him closely, but I would guess his floor is a little higher than Henry.  24 PPG for Henry in those 10/14 when he does score.

In the 20 games since Henry was made the bellcow last year, he has averaged 115.7 YPG and 1.3 TDs per game. That is now 15 of 20 games that he has scored a TD, scoring an impressive 26 times.

But there are still people that don't like him.

Bump this to 16/21 games, 119.5 YPG, and make a mental note that by scoring one TD last night, he brought his TD rate *down*.
50 TDs in 44 games.  He has scored a TD in 30/44 games during this split since becoming the workhorse. So to anyone that ever called him TD dependent, a reminder. When he scores one TD in a game, his TD per game average *goes down*.

He averages 1.67 TDs in games he does reach the endzone.

Derrick Henry rushed 29 times for 86 yards in the Titans' Week 7 win over the Chiefs but threw a five-yard touchdown.

He added two catches for 16 yards on two targets in the passing game. Henry's streak of five straight 100-yard rushing games was snapped in this one, as the Chiefs sold out to stop him. Fortunately for Henry's fantasy players, he took a wildcat snap in the first quarter and threw a five-yard touchdown to MyCole Pruitt. Henry gets a Week 8 date with the Colts. He had 28 carries for 113 scoreless yards against Indy in Week 3.

Following up on my Mehki Sargent comment-

Hilliard and Foreman aren't better.

Foreman y'all know and when he was with the Titans he did have a few "wow is he back" type runs. That was it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO

my other rbs are trash

^^^ Probably what the Titans are saying this morning.

This is a real blow for football. One of the few players that people will tune in to watch (and check on weekly basis to see what he did). Brutal.

Not sure the cap situation TN has to be able to make a trade and take on a contract of a guy like Mack or one of these others that have been rumored as available.

Also...don't see Indy giving them Mack unless they get a haul out of it.

Sucks for the Titans right now.  Henry is such a freaking beast and what makes their offense click.

As we see so often in this league...its hard putting so much on one guy...even a guy as big as Henry.

You said it well, I'm just a Henry fan and the fact Tannehill is a former Dolphin who found greener pastures in Tennessee just makes it easier to enjoy the Titans in general. Such a gut blow to NFL fans everywhere, very few teams commit to the run the way Tennessee is willing to do even when they are down 1-2 scores they still know their best chance is to get Henry rolling.

^^ I have to think if the titans feel they can compete that they would at least inquire about cmac

Rumors he might be out for a long period of time, perhaps the season?

Is this true? I didn't even hear about an injury yesterday with him.
I mentioned in the game thread I was shocked he wasn't out there for several plays on the final drives. But he eventually came back in so I assumed he was just getting a breather.

If this was going to happen, it's fortunate that happened right before the trade deadline.  Have to imagine they add a veteran via trade  in the next 24 hours.

McCaffrey?

Doubt Carolina gives him up...and again, not sure TN has the cap space to take on that contract in a trade.
I bet anything carolina would trade him if the deal is right.   Not sure of the titans cap situation but do know the panthers would eat a ton of cap space but hopefully gain picks for this rebuild.  I know its not feasible or likely but again if the titans think they can make a play in the playoffs they would at least call

I don't think that is how the trades in the NFL work though as far as negotiating what a team would eat cap wise.

And TN giving up a huge haul to get what would be a rental for the year (they aren't going to keep both Henry and McCaffrey).

Just seems too much like a FF type move vs. an actual NFL move of picking up a veteran back and hoping you get Henry back or seeing if he can keep you going for the year.

A quick look showing TN having cap space around 5 million.  Not sure what McCaffrey's proration for the rest of the year would be. But would think it would be close to that.  Plus would be trading for a guy who you are unsure about injury wise as well.

Does not seem plausible at all.

I know Arians already said no but I’d love to see Ronald Jones in Tenn IF Henry truly is out for the rest of the year.

That's killer. I can't believe they let him go play another half of the game after a season-ending foot injury. Hope that didn't make it worse and lead to this. Killer news but RB is tough and that's why guys don't lead the league in rushing 3 years in a row.

My best team had Henry and Robinson and RB. I really hate the injuries in football, especially dynasty. With all the mileage and now a major injury like this you have to wonder if he'll ever be the same.

The Titans don't have a lot of cap space. Tannehill had to restructure to afford Jones.

Most of the Titans ILBs are free agents in 2022, so trading one to free up some $ could help

Yeah this.

And it's a Jones fracture which is pinky toe.

I can't believe the biggest baddest RB would be done in by a pinky toe

I had McNichols for weeks in 1 league.  With bye weeks and needing a fill in at Tight end--I dropped him.  What are the odds Henry is going to get hurt?

Brutal.

Is he the play here?  I just picked up McNichols
I sincerely believe he's the best. McNichols is the lesser third down back they have confidence in. Evans is the elite athlete third down back they don't have confidence in. Sargent reminds me of Joe Morris and he's the only one with sled dog tough many carries ability. Like I said above, it might take a week or so but he'll shine here.

He did well in preseason if you need highlights or quotes.

Hilliard was added last week and I don't think much of the journeyman

Honestly, I'm not sure it matters who replaces Henry. A huge % of Henry's yards are due to him and his YAC ability. I'm not expecting a top-20 RB to emerge in his absence, and I think its possible/likely the Titans just become an extremely pass heavy offense in  the meantime.

Denver is a wildcard contender and is unlikely to deal a starter, even if Williams is the long term plan.
While that might be true, TEN offers enough, DEN would be dumb not to take it.  Isn't Gordon on the last year of his deal?  Would be a really good fit for TEN as a ROS rental.

Probably ask Cecil but from afar I would guess their GM and Coach gotta be asking how much confidence they have in Javonte. In FF we pretend Gordon has this n that going for him but in NFL world it's a matter of time til Javonte takes the reins completely
