RB Doug Martin, Free Agent (1 Viewer)

I offered him straight up for Karlos Williams 2 weeks ago because i had mccoy and was desperate. Guy turned me down and i can't stop thanking him enough

I couldn't get a bag of rocks for this guy a few weeks back now everybody is knocking at my door. Fantasy football is a funny game sometimes. Good to see him back to the Doug we know and love. He looked good last night. Hopefully it continues.
You gonna sell high?
Undecided, most offers I have received have been underwhelming. This is a keeper league but I have AP and Gurley also. I will be seeing if the owner of Jamaal Charles is a willing buyer. I severely lack WR power and he has quite the collection of receivers.

I can't imagine the other owner not wanting to make a deal. MIght be tough to get anything done on Martin's bye week though.

I still find Sims' usage disturbing. I mean, they gave that turd a goal line carry (9:15 4Q 1st and goal on the 2). Luckily he didn't get in and they put Martin in and he got it.

FWIW, the snap split was 41-26.
Sims looked really good too. Ali Marpet is blasting people off the ball.

If they're going to run it that much Doug can't get it all.
He had a nice breakaway reception, but I don't know that Sims has ever looked good as a runner. At least he's cracked 3 ypc this season, but as a change of pace back, 3.6 ypc is pretty poor.

I'm glad you bring up the offensive line. It is notable that the Bucs were without their two best offensive linemen yesterday. When Evans and Mankins get back, things should only improve.

And I agree Doug can't get all the carries. I just don't like to see Sims getting goal line touches.

Next Gen Stats: Bengals expose Chancellor in coverage

Excerpt:

4. It was clear back in preseason action that Doug Martin had recaptured his rookie-season form after disappointing efforts in 2013 and 2014. Through four regular-season games that obvious improvement was masked by ineffective blocking. The Bucs made a key adjustment against a Jaguars defense missing leading tackler Paul Posluszny. Tampa Bay ran 17 of 62 plays (27 percent) with an extra offensive lineman, gaining an average of 7.5 yards per play. Teams entered the week averaging fewer than two plays per game with an extra offensive lineman.

After gashing Jacksonville's defense for 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a highlight-reel performance, Martin is tied with Johnson for second place in rushing yards.

Well...needless to say I am pleasantly surprised with Martin's return to prominence and his overall top 6 RB ranking moving forward. Guess he's a keep. And I may seek to acquire him in my other league over Ingram, whom I liked pretty well too. Martin a strong #1 the rest of the year, and even with Sims being very good too!

Guy is still being overlooked. I saw three different websites' weekly rankings and the highest I saw Martin was 17th. NFL's second leader rusher before his bye this past week. And four TDs in the last two games. I guess people still don't view him as a number one yet.

I like him against Washington this week. Definitely a game Tampa Bay should be in the whole way. And they've given up 25+ points to RBs each of the last two weeks.

Hmm... I'm not that high on him this week. The game is on the road and Washington's D looked legit against Atlanta. The only good news here is that the Washington offense likely won't be able to run away with the game, so Doug should stay in as part of the game plan, although I think they'd be crazy to pull him for Sims even if they are down 2 scores. I think someone posted an article about how Doug's pass protection has really improved this year.

I'm not recommending benching him if you've got him, but don't be shocked if they keep him out of the end zone. My guess: 18/72/0 + 2/15/0. I hope he does better, though.

D. Freeman tore up the Redskins defense. He ran for 153 yards on them. And then Chris Ivory ran for 146 last week. What impressed you with them against Atlanta?

Jacksonville came into Tampa sporting the best yards per carry against average in the NFL. The Bucs had a lot of success with a "jumbo" package against them where they brought in an additional offensive lineman to play outside the tackle. You'll probably see a lot more of it against Washington, who has given up a ton of yards on the ground the last two weeks. Freeman and Ivory have murdered them the last two weeks rushing and receiving.

Washington's statistics can be a little misleading against the run as well with Miami only attempting 13 carries, St. Louis only 7 carries, and Philadelphia only 8 carries. The teams who have stuck with the run against them have had success. Tampa has been successful when they've pounded the ball and limited Jameis' throws/reads. I don't see why they'd change the formula coming off their bye.

If you watched the actual game, they dominated the Falcons for 3 quarters. If they had any offense at all, they would've won that game.

Overall, they rank 8th in yardage and 15th in points. Not as good as I expected, so maybe Doug has a better shot this week than I thought. But still, I don't have a lot of faith in Winston. Maybe Winston can avoid turnovers and Martin can plug away in a 13-6 type of game.

This is a good point. I hadn't delved that deep into it.

For some reason, they seem to be getting easier to run on as the season goes. Hoping to see more of Martin as we've seen their last two games.

The Redskins are 25th in the league in YPC allowed at 4.6.

I expect the Bucs to run a lot since Jameis has done well in games where they limit his throws (both his wins were in games where he 21 and 19 times).

Any word on if Evan Smith and Logan Mankins are back? If so, that would be a huge boon to the run game. Hopefully they both healed up over the bye.

You guys are giving me more hope for a big game than I had.

Damn really wanted that TD at the end...but so happy I traded Jordan Matthews for this guy right now. Hopefully he can stay healthy and keep it going because this backfield looks like it can support two solid players.

Another good game. Bucs should have given it to him again on that last 3rd and goal and not Sims.
Head scratcher. If Doug was gassed they should have thrown a jump ball to Evans. He was abusing Washington's corners all freaking day.
not fantasy related but the Skins were all primed to stop the run - have to score a TD there - one of the downs should have been a pass to Evans or Jackson.

Does anyone know why he disappeared in the 2nd quarter? There was a span from almost the end of the 1st quarter to the end of the first half where Sims got 11 carries and targets and Doug got just one. Really weird. Outside of that span, Sims only got two looks (a rush and a rec late in the 4th). Was Doug injured?

He honestly looks better than he did his first season. He's running with power and agility. Fighting for an extra couple every play. Looked possessed.

Lovie needs to let him do his thing, keep sims as a change of pace. Sims also looks good but not Dougs level.

Yes they were. Just about anything else would have worked in that situation. Jackson was injured, but the Redskins had no answer for Evans. Just asinine to not attempt something else there.

Especially considering Breeland got hurt chasing down dougie. Skins had their 4th string CB out there

Tampa Bay lost that game by trying to hard to make Simms be a part of the action. Martin should have gotten the goalline carries after his long run. Plus, the Simms fumble to end the game wouldn't have happened if Martin was in there.

He had two straight carries after the long run. I don't mind them going in a different direction, but the play they called was awful. It was basically the only thing they could have done short of a penalty to lose yardage. They were on the 1. Punch it in and the game is over.

Morons.

Didn't he gain like 3-4 yards the 1, then almost get in?Either way, I agree with you; don't run that play-throw it up to Evans, run the Dougenator again, or let James run a sneak.

it almost seems like they're bending over backwards to force Simms into action. Not sure why. Martin is a great receiver in his own right.

The coaching staff has a weird love affair with Sims. Worst coaching staff in the league imo. I bet Dougie can't wait to be a FA next year.
