Nah, it was more then the word start. We, or at least me, got duped.

This was in the article he wrote this morning. I guess he used the word likely so he has a small out but that looked like the same exact usage as every other week.

The transformation has been swift for K.C., which began the year featuring Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon with a splash of Pacheco. Now it'll likely be Pacheco and Edwards-Helaire with a splash of McKinnon.

He is so good he touched the ball 4 whole times, no targets. Obviously he is and was not in the game plan in any aspect.

Well, technically he touched it 8 times to CEH 6 times

I see a great big nope, not gonna do it. Not in any important league would I start any of these guys other than a what the heck flex for a BYE or injury.

Isiah Pacheco had eight rushes for 43 yards in the Chiefs' Week 7 win against the 49ers.​


Pacheco, who took over starting duties from Clyde Edwards-Helaire this week, had a mere five rushing attempts entering the fourth quarter. He ended up with two more carries than CEH and led the KC backfield with 43 yards. Pacheco and Edwards-Helaire each ran seven pass routes while Jerick McKinnon logged 16 routes and caught two of his three targets. Pacheco may have more burst than Edwards-Helaire but he has no viable path to fantasy upside unless he can get more involved in the passing game and take over all -- or almost all -- of the Chiefs' early-down work. He'll be a RB3/4 option when the Chiefs return from the Week 8 bye.

Hoodwinked, yet still a small step rightward. Scored 10 in my return yardage league. Kid's grinding but still needs an injury or wind down of one of the other two to do anything reliable on a fwd basis. Snap counts tell the story.

You haven’t been paying attention, so you may want to take some of the blame as well.
It’s been a 3 man committee the entire season. Pacheco starting wasn’t changing that - which is what most were saying.

Isiah Pacheco played 30% of snaps in the Chiefs' Week 7 win over the 49ers.​

Pacheco was named the starter ahead of the game and did out snap Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who played just 27% of snaps. However, Jerick McKinnon actually led the backfield with a 44% snap share. It seems clear that the Chiefs will be a three-headed committee for now making Pacheco a TD-dependent option even if he remains the nominal starter.

McKinnon a sneaky thorn so far. All of us are focused on MEH, but if McK were to go down (and he does seem to have an annual clock), that could actually be the real skeleton key to iPatch becoming relevant in fantasy. Pacheco can pass block. That is a very important detail here.
 
Pacheco didn't look that impressive to me against SF. Was the SF defense just that good? Does this guy really have "it"? I didn't see anything that separates him from CEH or McKinnon.

But, TBH, I had not watched him or done research on him.

McKinnon looks like the best of the bunch in a tight race.

I get what he's saying because that's what the the article from Rap sheet said. It was not just that he said Pachecho was starting but he basically said McKinnnon was getting phased out. The article was complete BS and someone like myself, who I think pays to much attention, got duped by it as well.

Yes, the SF defense is really that good. The front 7 of that defensive unit is stacked. They're really not a great way to get an accurate assessment of a RBs talents (when comparing against the average NFL defense).

With that said, he did average a very healthy 5.4 ypc yesterday. But at the end of the day, 8 touches makes him TD dependent no matter what.

Then I apologize and admit I didn’t read the article when it circulated. While I’m not saying I can see things any better than anyone even if I had read that unless I was desperate I would have been hesitant to start him. McKinnon has been a big part each week. There just isn’t big volume so far.
I started him in a rebuild where I really had no choice but of course I didn’t need to have any concerns because I didn’t care if I won and I had no better option.

I truly don’t think he’s a special back but CEH isn’t a special back. I think both could be replaced next year but the offense is great and if things work out he could be a jackpot. He could also totally flame out…I think that’s the more likely path but you never know…
 
My guess is Reid wanted to see what he has in Pacheco by giving him a larger role before the bye (why else would you shift him into the starting pole position if not to use him as your lead back?) but then Skyy Moore muffed a punt.

Think about it. What happened after that? Pacheco was shifted to kick return duties which took him off the field as a starter when the offense got the ball.

That little deviation from the plan led to CEH getting a TD in a position where I think Reid had expected and planned to be using Pacheco.

As someone who picked him up and started him in a multi-flex league, I'm still holding him through the bye week. Because I expect to see the change after the bye that I believe Reid attempted to make if not for Skyy Moore's rookie mistake.

I really wanted to do the same. Still won with AJ Dillon, who has really stunk it up. I'm out on Pacheco. Grabbed him in two leagues thinking this is great. NOT! I'm not holding or waiting the RBBC in KC. He might be okay in a pinch perhaps, but nothing to win you a championship. I do like his aggressive run style. Not enough opportunities right now. OUT!

Ironic to your statement, patience has often been rewarded with fantasy championships. This is one case among many with such potential every season. This game absolutely comes down to a two-three week competition from weeks 14-16. If either of MEH or Jerrick McKinnon is out of the 3-way by then - for whatever reasons - Pacheco could be a king maker. It's a long shot, but it's also the Chiefs offense and Andy Reid seems to like the guy - trust is a process with rookie RBs.

I'm only dropping Pacheco for someone like M Carter, Gus Edwards, or James Robinson. Otherwise, he's a hold. Plus KC has a bye and nobody really that eager to pick up a bye week player that doesn't have a ton of confidence right now, even though the starter tag hit the wire. If one of my players gets injured, or is sluggish in points, I can always revisit Pacheco again. CEH isn't awful and McKinnon offers his plays. It feels like a 3-way deal without a single breakout back.

Pacheco returned kickoffs like he has all year, including 3 times before the Skye Moore muffed punt. That punt was SF's only punt of the game. Pacheco returned 2 more kickoffs in the 2nd half.

I don't think the Skye Moore punt muff had any effect on the KC RB rotation.
 
I am considering picking up Pacheco again for another game. I would be dropping M Gordon. This is my RB #4 position.

Like when I dropped Pacheco last week for M Gordon because I didn't think anyone would grab him. The DEN backfield got a lil bigger and KC still sorting theirs out.

I think it's worth another shot at Pacheco, at least he plays this week. I can always go back to Gordon again lol.

I also tossed back K Williams, LAR. Gotta believe that backfield is a mess worse than DEN.
 
Holding to see what happens after this bye week. Can't see TN hanging this game so we should see plenty of 3rd and 4th Q carries. If not, back on the pile of misfits.

I was right with ya, Doc then I got sentimental again lol. Dropped Pacheco for Gordon last week. Going back to the well dropping Gordon for Pacheco. Worth another shot, Doc? LOL
 
Bye weeks are a good time for teams to retool offenses and get players comfortable in new roles. There's a chance that they've been prepping Pacheco for a true workhorse workload. Not saying there's a great chance, but I'm willing to give it a week and see what happens. If he's the dominant ball-carrier, the torch has been passed. If not, well, I don't see it happening this year. After a bye week is the best chance to see it imo.
 
Pachecho being named the starter to me means that he has shown Andy Reid enough. However, they all still have their roles, and the Chiefs are a pass first offense. I think as we get closer and closer to the playoffs Pachecho will be more and more involved. Pachecho can catch too, and Reid knows that he is the best weapon they have on offense besides Kelce. I think it is more about trust, and knowing the offense and where he needs to be. Pacheco was one of the best blocking RBs in the draft too. CEH can't block at all. Mckinnon is definitely in the pass catching role, but Pachecho will be more and more involved in this as the season goes on. They are phasing CEH out into more of a change of pace role where he is best suited. The hard part will just be figuring out when his coming out party will be. He continues to be worth a stash because he has league winning potential due to the offense he is in, and the talent that he has.

I like these highlights because it shows his potential in a lot of different areas. The fact that he is not more involved in the passing game at this point is not about talent or his ability to catch the ball.

I am the last person anyone should ask FF advice. I’m the idiot that dropped Pacheco for Foreman and then dropped Foreman for Eno on Saturday last week. I’m still sick.

I do prefer Pacheco over Gordon though. Better O and Gordon seems to be on his way out while Pacheco could be the future.
