RB Isiah Pacheco, KC (3 Viewers)

Went in the 6th round of an FFPC Main Event last night. 6.01 actually. That's a $2,000 entry.
Saw him go ahead of MG3, Penny, Miles Sanders and Singletary in the Sleeper Bowl (14 team official Sleeper league with experts and a couple NFL players) last night.

Nice run but wasn't a fan of his dance at the end of a practice rep.
I don’t downgrade the kid for enjoying the moment, he has been through a lot in life. With that being said I was always a big fan of Barry handing the ball to the ref after scoring. The older I get I do have to remind myself these are kids playing a game at times.

That's not uncommon in Chiefs training camp. If you had the sound turned up they play music at camp during the drills and do everything at a fast tempo. And there are typically A LOT of fans at each session. So the players will do this on a regular basis. The coaches don't seem to mind and Reid always wants his players to have fun and express themselves as long as the work is being done.
That's good to know. I don't mind celebrating, just wasn't down with showing up a teammate, but if it's the norm in KC, you can't argue with the results.

Have an FFPC live draft going on in the background...Pacheco just got taken as the RB27 in the 7th round. I mean...

Is that a dynasty or redraft format?
It's the redraft Main Event - so there is weekly management unlike the best balls, so if he fizzles, he can be dropped, if he hits big it's an okay pick.

Have to make playoffs in your individual league which runs week 1-11, league playoffs are weeks 12-13, then playing for the big bucks week 14-17 with the $1 Million first prize on the line.

Compared to red zone interceptions where the defence has to trot all the way down to the other end zone to pose for a fake picture, this is nothing. ;)

Not that it matters for gist of conversation but for accuracy's sake the bolded is now 1-12, 13-14 and 15-17.

And Pachecho going in the 6th round of this event is nuts on many levels, starting with most basic which is he's not gone before the 9th round of this contest so if you absolutely positively had to have him you could have waited 2 rounds and still be a over a round ahead of the highest anyone had taken him. This is when you got to have your guy goes wrong.

Two FFPC Best Ball Tourneys I'm in this week. He went at 11.7 and 9.11.
Ahh. Saw one poster say he went 6.01 in a $2000 league which seems crazy. 11.7 is early but not awful. There's going to be outliers, we'll have to see where his ADP settles in once more data comes in.

Pacheco led the Chiefs in snaps, routes ran, targets and carries while Mahomes was on the field. Though CEH and McKinnon weren't far behind.
It’s obvious that Reid wants him to have a role in the offense and is currently only behind CEH - which is why his rising ADP in redraft isn’t that crazy. It’s not like the hype is unfounded - we’re clearly seeing that Reid is intent on using Pacheco and this is one of the leagues best offenses.

Awesome stuff. I still think CEH is going to get first crack at this, so I'd advise slowing the roll here. How did Pacheco look today?

"You can be white and groove, but don't crap the roll" - Q Tip
Looked fine, had a nice 12 yard catch in the RZ. Nothing eye popping but seemed to handle himself fine. His size and burst compared to CEH is obvious IMO.

I was spinning ATCQ all morning fwiw. I also scored a Mark Drew Q print this week on the drop. Play tapes ya'll!

As for football, is this dude gonna be the next Wali Lundy or what?

Isiah Pacheco rushed 10 times for 52 yards in Thursday's preseason finale against the Packers.

He was not targeted in the passing game. With the Chiefs resting their starters, Pacheco and Ronald Jones battle royale'd for No. 3 duties behind Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon. Both turned in effective rushing lines against the Packers' defensive reserves, but Pacheco has seemed to have the leg up on his veteran teammate. It remains possible RoJo is left off the 53-man roster. The Pacheco hype has died down in recent weeks as it began to appear McKinnon had locked down No. 2 duties, but McKinnon's injury history and CEH's to-date ineffectiveness make Pacheco a defensible late-round flier.

Honestly feels like a Committee back to me. Would only be interested in deep leagues or situations where I was desperate at RB.

There was a reason he went in the seventh round, and it wasn't all because of his collegiate offensive line. He misses holes and has an awkward running style. Maybe his vision will improve, but he seems like a guy that the more you watch, the more you say "ehhhh..."

We have 18 man rosters + 2 IR spots to stash it injured players. I think he’s undraftable.

Might stash him as a lottery ticket if I’m bored. CEH will eat, McKinnon could see a fair amount of the 3rd down/fun part of the playbook satellite back stuff, and Pacheco will be the inside plodder who is asked to fall forward.

Interesting. McKinnon is a 30 year old RB who has been dealing with a lot of injures the last couple years (ACL tear, hamstring strain, had hernia surgery in the offseason) and CEH hasn't been very effective and doesn't seem to be trusted near the GL. May not happen right away but it's Andy Reid and Mahomes. I will draft anyone on that offense just to see what happens.

I don’t feel that way about the Chiefs RBs this year.

I always root for players to get paid, it’s a ruthless league and so often their contracts are non-guaranteed. What a freaking mother lode Jerick hit in San Francisco (pun intended); 4 yr, $30M - $18M guaranteed. Generational wealth changer for his family.

#alwaysstickittotheman

But seriously, the major injuries he’s been battling the last few years did not fundamentally change what he is; his limited utilization last year was actually marginally more effective than CEH. Which is not saying a lot since they’re both mid-60s PFF grade replacement level guys.

Nothing against McKinnon. RB is just a brutal position. Age and injuries add up and it's difficult to keep it up at that level. There are always younger, fresher guys looking to take your job. Wouldn't it be nice to see Pacheco also get a chance at generational wealth? He's a 7th round pick, 2 time captain at Rutgers who stuck with the team even when most of the top players were transferring out. It's been a tough path for him to the NFL and I hope he gets his shot.

In a 1QB FFPC dynasty league, I was just offered a rookie R2 for Pacheco. (I took him in 7th round of the rookie draft.) After my initial excitement, I think I'm gonna pass. It's very likely to be a late second, which are really hit-or-miss in FFPC 1QB leagues. I think I've bought into the hype.

Seems close in value. This year I have several late second rounders, and I'd be okay with taking him there. But you're talking about next year's pick, right? It's supposed to be a much better class next year, but also that means waiting a year. Seems like an approximately fair deal.

It's supposed to be a much better class next year

FBG's dynasty guys say it's top-heavy, though. They've said, in the trade value charts, that the class isn't that deep so don't go acquiring second round picks just to have them. 2024 is now rumored to be sneakily better. So there's that.
Ah, good call. I hadn't heard anything regarding depth, I just knew it was "good".
