Yeah - I think the difference is he’s reading the OL better and hitting the hole rather than running up the backs of his OL.

Bottom line is he does look notably better this year, at least according to your eyes and mine. If that premise is true, it doesn't bode well for Pacheco in redraft.

I agree. And it pains me to say it because I am not at all a fan. lol
That said, Reid still appears hesitant to use him as a rusher inside the 5.
He gave McKinnon the only such carry last night.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see RoJo get a chance if Pacheco continues to underwhealm in short yardage opportunities.

I am sure the Fight Doctor disappointed some fantasy managers, but in limited snaps, I thought he looked good. Pacheco provided a key block allowing Mahomes to hit Hardman downfield. Plays like this won't show up in the boxscore or help your fantasy team, but they will earn him more playing time.

Absolutely, been impressed a lot more with CEH, don't see him being pushed aside. Good target in redrafts if you are looking to trade for a RB.

CEH is 15/116 and 7/76/2Tds in 2 Games...he has a hammer lock on the position, let's not sugarcoat it.
"Availability" is the only thing that would expand Pacheco's role right now. He's not slowly wrestling the position away, certainly not right now.

CEH is playing well, and Coach Reid clearly trusts the veteran McKinnon, so that makes sense.

I'm gonna HODL for as long as possible. Pacheco situation reminds me of Clinton Portis' rookie season. Now, like then, my gut is screaming league winner in waiting once Pacheco gets his chance. There's still a decent probability CEH turns into a pumpkin at some point sooner or later. And if not, an injury to either CEH or McKinnon would open the door for Pacheco to run through at 4.3 speed.

If you have the bench space, absolutely. CEH isn’t anything special, and he’s small. Pacheco has the size and speed to be a difference maker.
CEH goes down, do you think McKinnon becomes the every down back? I don’t. I’d say Pacheco takes over as the early down back - with a great chance of taking the full time job completely.
He’s right there with Rachaad White as being cheap, high ceiling lottery tickets.

It’s going to take a CEH injury and their offense isn’t as explosive as I thought it would be. I dropped him this week. Wouldn’t drop him for anything but he’s not getting the touches or increased work to have any value other than an injury player.

If both CEH/McKinnon go down? Sure.
McKinnon is their best all around back right now IMO. (Rush/Receive/Blocking). Don't underrate McKinnon's blocking ability. Why he sees and will continue to see (IMO) a good snapload. KC goes as a healthy Mahomes goes.
Even if CEH goes down, it's much much more likely McKinnon handles a greater snapload than Pacheco. Pacheco may have a greater role if either McKinnon/CEH goes down.....I don't know how much fantasy value his role will hold if one of those 2 are healthy.
McKinnon might be my highest owned player (Own CEH in 1). He has actually outsnapped CEH this season. CEH has yet to play more snaps than him any week this season. I don't think CEH is better than McKinnon in ANY facet.....but get the 1st round investment along with McKinnon's injury history.

Can you list some of the posts that had "overblown hype"? I'm being serious here. I truly don't remember much over the top hype in here. I think most figured he was a long shot as a 7th round draft pick, but one that didn't have a stacked depth chart to overcome when you consider CEH has been an underachiever and McKinnon's injury history.
He went in the 4th or 5th round of all my rookie drafts and in Round 12 of my re-draft league. That's "overblown hype"?
I mean he has kept Ron Jones on the inactive list each week, a RB some thought would start in KC (talk about overblown hype) - which in and of itself is a victory for a 7th round pick.

You're really stretching the definition of "over-blown" hype here.
I mean a guy that got some buzz during the offseason and scored a TD in Week 1 got a few random people to bid more than they "should" have - I'm guessing that happens almost every season, and frankly that isn't hype, that's fantasy football.
I suspect you meant more than just that when you said "overblown hype" - but it's not such a big deal that it's worth mucking up the thread over semantics.

I believe others know the hype around Pacheco. People were talking about how bad CEH is and how easy it would be for him to be replaced. Quite the opposite has occurred.

Not exactly the opposite - CEH has been a RBBC guy who's efficiency can't possibly continue. He's been preposterously productive on like 10-13 total touches a game, and Reid shows little sign of increasing his workload.
So you're half right. While Pacheco hasn't lived up to the billing as possibly taking over that backfield, CEH hasn't been any sort of dominant workhorse back. I believe I read he's been in for ~23% of the snaps? That's....not great.
In reality the KC backfield is a bit of a muddled mess, and one of these weeks, CEH seems likely to disappear from the stat sheet. Could be this week against the Bucs, a very stout run defense. And they have Bills & 49ers coming up after the Raiders, so 3 of the next 4 games should tell us more about CEH.
If I'm a CEH owner, I'm selling to someone who (hopefully) is looking at the points and not watching the games.
If I'm a Pacheco dynasty owner, I'm holding unless I have a short bench.

If/when CEH gets dinged up, Pacheco is going to be a potential monster for sure, he’s just absolutely explosive. One of these games, he’s gonna get a hole to run through and take one to the house from distance. The kid can fly.

That was a weird blowout last night. He scored 8.80 in a league I have with kick returns. So I'm not sure he's got a great floor. He only got eleven touches in an utter curbstomping from the offensive side of things. If he returned punts he'd be that much more valuable, but they've got Skyy doing that.
it's only a matter of time before he takes over... as soon as he has the trust of his pass blocking and has a full grasp of the offense, or a CEH injury which is very likely
They also gave him carries early on in the game against the Bucs, which shows that their trust in him is growing quickly.
watching him play reminds me of Adrian Peterson early in his career, speed and ferocity, the fire he brings to the offense and finishes plays strong.. can take it to the house on any play and "he can catch"... going to be hard for them to continue to keep him off the field when he is a threat to score on any play

with what's invested in CEH, and with him being productive, I don't see a "take over" but his role should keep growing. He looked dynamic last week for sure. With that speed he'll break a few long runs.
Yea I just think CEH can't stay healthy either. He is not built to carry a full load

As much as I don’t love CEH, this only happens with injury.
And they probably still use McKinnon, who’s looked awful as a runner but is better in pass pro.
At the end of the day, Mahomes staying vertical is probably more important to the chiefs than anything either RB brings to the table ability-wise, which is also likely why Jet has been in there on short yardage/goal to go when they’re passing.
But I do agree with others that this early blowout led to all sorts of production for the RBs. Not saying they’ll never have another blowout like this, but their defense isn’t as good as it looked on SNF, and more games should be closer than not.
A take-over seems unlikely. Can’t predict injury, but CEH has missed a lot of time.
one thing that made me more confident in him this week, was that he had several runs early in the game against Tampa. I think he had 8 carries by halftime, and McKinnon barely touched the ball. Pachecho just has that "excitement" to him when he touches the ball, like any run could be a TD. I do think if CEH went down McKinnon would have a decent role, but Pachecho just seems like one of those guys that the more he plays, the better he will get, and the chiefs are going to have a hard time coming up with reasons to not have him on the field after he breaks a couple of long TDs

When I was watching that game during the first half I just kept thinking, "I wish I would have picked him up off of waivers before this game started, and I hope he doesn't score this game because everyone will be on him after that ." It just felt like he was about to have a breakout game, or break a long one at any moment. Luckily was able to grab him off waivers, and it definitely helped that he didn't score.

there seemed to be a transition last game vs. the first 3 games. Pacheco got some garbage carries week one, then sporadic carries weeks 2 and 3. Then last game he got more carries, earlier in the game and looked better than CEH side by side. Then at halftime Rodney Harrison said that Pacheco was better and he should be the starter. I then yelled at the tv for Rodney to shut up until I could pick him up off waivers.

thanks for that....running for 5.7 ypc v. the stout TB defense is even more impressive. It wasn't just one big run either...he was consistently running for 6-9 yards. He also ran for 1 more ypc than CEH. CEH isn't going away but now it's looking like Pacheco is getting more touches...only downside is that he gets nothing receiving wise as that all goes to Mckinnon / CEH. If CEH goes down like Monty did a couple weeks ago Pacheco could be a league winner.

Pacheco looked much improved vs. TB compared to his early preseason games. I do wonder what his carry upside is as they do like him on kick returns as well. If all of a sudden he is not longer returning kicks you know he is heading for an increase of usage at RB. Fun to watch, hope he breaks a long one in the next few weeks.
