if you need a guy this week to play, I dont think hes your guy unless San Fran announces hes starting.

Even if Shanahan comes out and says Izzy is starting (which he would probably never do), you have to ask yourself if you trust that he would get the lion's share of carries over Taylor and Vaughn (if active). That's a big leap of faith with the fantasy season on the line.

especially with Shanny. with him you ideally would want to see a track record of him actually getting the start, and performing before you actually want to put him in there.

granted sometimes we dont get the luxury of that. especially this time of year.

sometimes if you have no options due to injury or something unforseen you pick the best longshot with the highest upside and pray to the fantasy gods that it comes up aces. surprisingly enough, it sometimes will. but that doesnt mean its a good bet to begin with. we are calling this a longshot play for a reason.
