If you want to now argue semantics, I'm out, but knock yourself out.I’m fully aware there’s a lot of folks who will never side with the worker in any kind of situation like this so I’m not going to spend anymore time arguing it.
BURN IT DOWN!!!
Let's party, brother!BURN IT DOWN!!!
We wanna be free...we wanna be free to ride...we wanna be free to ride on machines without being hassled by the man...and we wanna get loaded!
I think this could be a mistake. The new offense is going to move at a much faster pace and the RBs are likely to be much more involved in the passing game. Dobbins, in particular, is poised to make a big jump this year.Yeah I am personally rooting for him because I thought he was an awesome prospect coming out but I will continue to not touch him in fantasy.

Of course, we all have our valuations. He's a low end RB2 ATM, seems about right and I don't see many RBs after him that are any more interesting. This long back and forth is making me consider outright dropping Dobbins just to stop reading this thread![]()
Wasn't Washington drafted by Pittsburgh, not Baltimore? Or did I read your post wrong in some way? This thread soured...
Maybe we can get it back on track. Throw my hat in the ring as one who is very high on Dobbins. Monken is going to get the backs catching and JK is underrated there. Also, Monken brought in Darnell Washington from UGA and will almost assuredly run the same 2 TE sets he did at UGA. Darnell is as good a blocker as most starting RT's in the league right now and twice as athletic. JK going to have ROOOOOOM

BTW, your overall point stands. I'm on Dobbins for this reason specifically. He's a monster. If he starts getting 13 carries and 5 targets, he's going to be a huge value at his ADP. I'm thrilled that this contract hub-bub will keep his price decreased for a while. This thread soured...

You can edit postsErase everything I said about Monken. Same division, wrong team! My point still stands!

BaltimoreRavens.com’s Clifton Brown said J.K. Dobbins is “highly motivated” entering 2023.
“I don’t think he’s disgruntled,” Brown said of Dobbins, who held out of Baltimore’s mandatory minicamp in June due to contract-related issues. Brown said on the Rotoworld Football Show that new offensive coordinator Todd Monken will try to get Dobbins “in space” as a pass catcher out of the backfield, echoing offseason reports that the team’s new look offense will involve running backs in the passing attack, unlike former Ravens OC Greg Roman. Dobbins has just 25 receptions over this 23 NFL games. His role in Monken’s offense could make Dobbins — the most productive back in the league over the final month of 2022 — one of the better running back values in summertime drafts.
Ravens placed J.K. Dobbins on the active/PUP list.
Dobbins can be removed from the PUP list at any time. It’s not clear what Dobbins is dealing with, though it wouldn’t be a surprise for subsequent reports to say that he is still dealing with the knee issues that have plagued him over the past two years. It’s also possible that this is related to Dobbins’ contract issues as is he seeking a new deal. The Ravens also signed Melvin Gordon earlier today, so it’s clear they are prepared to be without Dobbins for at least the start of training camp. Baltimore also placed FB Patrick Ricard, WR Mike Thomas, CB Pepe Williams, and DT Rayshad Nichols on the PUP list.

I may need a tin foil hat but it crossed my mind that Dobbins has been talking about a hold in, now this. He goes on PUP, Gordon is “signed”, which is mostly a nothingburger but…idk. Not gonna go too far with the narrative but it adds up a bit.

I agree with you. Balt may be posturing a it with the Gordon signing maybe??? Dobbins should just play this year as I’ve stated before. I think a full healthy year would help his arguement a lot and I’m pretty sure he knows that as well. I expect him to play a full season but we may not see him involved all offseason.Ravens placed J.K. Dobbins on the active/PUP list.

I mean, I’m not even sure I agree with myself lol. Just saying its something that crossed my mind and seems plausible. There’s a ton of stuff that happens in this league that we really don’t know anything about. And I promise I’m no conspiracy theorist in general.I agree with you. The player doesn’t make the decision to go on PUP list, the team makes that decision. Is the suggestion that the team is making it easier for him to “hold in”?Ravens placed J.K. Dobbins on the active/PUP list.

Thought I qualified it well enough to avoid this type of response but, do you have anything to offer besides snark?

I guess I’m wondering if he’s made it clear to them he’s not going to be practicing, so they put him on PUP and signed a replacement body. And maybe it doesn’t hurt the player has a little name recognition to send a little message back.
Or maybe he actually does have a “soft tissue injury”. Idk

The Gordon signing doesnt make any sense at all. At this point of their careers, Justice Hill is a more capable RB than Gordon.Wasn't Gordon already playing his way out of the league? He may not even make the roster.
It makes sense as insurance for injury/holdout for Dobbins and Edwards - we don’t know how much of contact is guaranteed, if any.The Gordon signing doesnt make any sense at all. In Gordon's defense, he had 2 of the most efficient seasons of his career in 2020 and 2021, its possible (I'm not betting on it per se) that 2022 was just a bad fit with Hackett, and he lost his confidence.Wasn't Gordon already playing his way out of the league? He may not even make the roster.
Did you see how slow Gordon was last season? I do think Gordon is better than Kenyan Drake or Justice Hill who saw 150+ touches a year ago.
It might be. I like bringing in a guy coming off a bad season, who was good the 2 prior on the cheap. If he's washed, he's washed, but if he can be what he was in 2021, he'll be a useful addition. The possibility of that 2021 still being on the table, certainly appeals more than Drake or Hill does.Did you see how slow Gordon was last season? I know RBs have been entirely devalued but you would think, of all the teams in the league, the Ravens may want to consider being one of them to buck the trend.
Honestly their skill position talent/depth, rather the lack thereof, shows just how valuable Lamar is to this team. Maybe they want to throw a little support his way and get him a running back that defenses need to account for?
Are NFL teams allowed to sign third year players to extensions? If so, why not sign Dobbins to a incentive laden deal, with most bonuses tied to PT, now and get him in camp?
If not, then go give Dalvin $6-7 mil on a one year deal and call Dobbins bluff.
Either way go get Lamar a real GD RB for once.

As far as Dobbins goes, while I think he's very talented, when you're a RB already under contract who has missed more games than he has played in his career you have little to no leverage. No RB in his position gets a new deal, go out and earn it. And while it sounds so easy to offer him an incentive laden deal, it takes two to tango and it's highly unlikely that's what Dobbins is asking for. We have no idea what Dalvin is asking for, but it doesn't seem to make any sense to get in a bidding war for another RB as insurance. Besides, I'm sure when Cook likely slows down more this year and/or misses a few games you'd just blast the Ravens for "not supporting Lamar" anyway.
By the way, I'm in no way saying that Lamar isn't very valuable to the Ravens, but Dobbins had zero trouble running like gangbusters with Huntley at QB last year, and in 2021 both Freeman and Murray did a little better with Huntley at QB than Lamar. Certainly seems like the system deserves a lot more credit than you're giving it.

The Ravens have had 5 drafts since they picked Lamar and they have use their 1st round pick on WR in 3 of them. Know how many 1st round picks the Chiefs, Bills, and Packers have used on WRs with their franchise QBs? Zero, combined, in 29 drafts.
What about a trade or free agent signing? Well, those don't work out most of the time, and for a few reasons Baltimore isn't exactly high on most WR's wish lists. Then when they do go out and sign one, they're criticized for overpaying.
You rag on the RBs- Ingram was a very good RB, and he had a great 1st season with the Ravens, just couldn't stay healthy. Then many of those other guys were "break glass in case of emergency" types. I'm not sure what you expect a team to do when they lose their top 2 RBs back to back right before the regular season starts, it's not as if any teams have 3 or 4 great RBs on their roster.
And let's not forget that this was the only franchise who was willing to take him in the 1st round, and traded up to do so. I think the narrative that the Ravens don't support Lamar is complete BS, coming mostly from Lamar apologists. If anything, they've gone out of their way and reached and overpaid to bring in guys trying to support him and the offense. They've had a lot of bad luck (mostly with injuries), but they've put more assets into offense than most teams have since he's been there. Hopefully that luck changes this year because on paper, if healthy this team can compete with just about anyone.
I think Lamar is underrated, it's no secret. And I'm not making stuff up so, what's the problem?

I think Lamar is underrated, it's no secret. And I'm not making stuff up so, what's the problem?
Feel better?
I stand by my post

Sarah Ellison @sgellison
With JK Dobbins not practicing for a week now, John Harbaugh was asked when that becomes a concern."I don't know. It's a fair question. And there is a point in time when it does become a concern because - and he knows - JK and I talked last night. We talk a lot. He wants to be out, and he needs to be out there, just like any player does. Other than that, there's nothing else that I can really add because I don't know when he's gonna come back. But, I know I'm gonna be really happy when he does."What are you missing without him out there?"Well, you miss JK. He's the player. You want him out there. He's a great player. And it's one less great player you have out there."
He's fine.Any updates on JK Dobbins? I love the player, but that leg scares me still. Need to see him in action where he runs looking like it is fully healed
Ravens HC John Harbaugh said he’s unsure of when J.K. Dobbins will return to the team.
Harbaugh reportedly met with Dobbins earlier in the week to discuss his current situation with the team. The veteran running back was a surprise candidate for the PUP list to start training camp, but his absence appears to be more about his contract than an injury. Dobbins is reportedly at the team facilities but not practicing. Ravens beat reporter Sarah Ellison is one of several who believe Dobbins is “holding in” as he looks to get a new/better deal than the one he is currently on. As long as this continues, Dobbins’ situation will be one to monitor. It’s hard to imagine him not playing, but an extensive absence from practice could lead to a light workload early in the season.
