I think this could be a mistake. The new offense is going to move at a much faster pace and the RBs are likely to be much more involved in the passing game. Dobbins, in particular, is poised to make a big jump this year.

BTW, your overall point stands. I'm on Dobbins for this reason specifically. He's a monster. If he starts getting 13 carries and 5 targets, he's going to be a huge value at his ADP. I'm thrilled that this contract hub-bub will keep his price decreased for a while.

I agree with you. Balt may be posturing a it with the Gordon signing maybe??? Dobbins should just play this year as I’ve stated before. I think a full healthy year would help his arguement a lot and I’m pretty sure he knows that as well. I expect him to play a full season but we may not see him involved all offseason.

I think you pretty spot on with the things you have been saying.

He already pulled a hold-in during mini-camp, which was the only time since January anyone on the team has seen him and that was just to not get fined. So this should not be a hot take or even a conspiracy theory. Harbaugh's comments indicated he thought he was going to be able to practice back in mini-camp so it's fair to think if Harbaugh expected him to practice in May he was healthy enough to practice in late July and being put on PUP has less to do with injury and more to do with the Ravens trying to figure out how to manage a situation with a malcontent player.

One of my favorite Tomlinism's is that they want volunteers and not hostages. I think the Ravens might have a hostage situation on their hands.

A few things:

We don't know if any of them would sign the contract that Gordon signed. If it has little to no guarantees for instance I don't think those vets are trying to be August tryouts.

I believe the Ravens have one of the stricter policies about trying to avoid players who have shown violence against women. I don't think what Hunt did was that bad and I'm not sure Elliot did anything but they've both been suspended for violence against women and that might be a non-starter for the Ravens.

I'm not expecting Gordon to make the team.

It might be. I like bringing in a guy coming off a bad season, who was good the 2 prior on the cheap. If he's washed, he's washed, but if he can be what he was in 2021, he'll be a useful addition. The possibility of that 2021 still being on the table, certainly appeals more than Drake or Hill does.

The Ravens have had 5 drafts since they picked Lamar and they have use their 1st round pick on WR in 3 of them. Know how many 1st round picks the Chiefs, Bills, and Packers have used on WRs with their franchise QBs? Zero, combined, in 29 drafts.

What about a trade or free agent signing? Well, those don't work out most of the time, and for a few reasons Baltimore isn't exactly high on most WR's wish lists. Then when they do go out and sign one, they're criticized for overpaying.

You rag on the RBs- Ingram was a very good RB, and he had a great 1st season with the Ravens, just couldn't stay healthy. Then many of those other guys were "break glass in case of emergency" types. I'm not sure what you expect a team to do when they lose their top 2 RBs back to back right before the regular season starts, it's not as if any teams have 3 or 4 great RBs on their roster.

And let's not forget that this was the only franchise who was willing to take him in the 1st round, and traded up to do so. I think the narrative that the Ravens don't support Lamar is complete BS, coming mostly from Lamar apologists. If anything, they've gone out of their way and reached and overpaid to bring in guys trying to support him and the offense. They've had a lot of bad luck (mostly with injuries), but they've put more assets into offense than most teams have since he's been there. Ravens HC John Harbaugh said he’s unsure of when J.K. Dobbins will return to the team.

Harbaugh reportedly met with Dobbins earlier in the week to discuss his current situation with the team. The veteran running back was a surprise candidate for the PUP list to start training camp, but his absence appears to be more about his contract than an injury. Dobbins is reportedly at the team facilities but not practicing. Ravens beat reporter Sarah Ellison is one of several who believe Dobbins is “holding in” as he looks to get a new/better deal than the one he is currently on. As long as this continues, Dobbins’ situation will be one to monitor. It’s hard to imagine him not playing, but an extensive absence from practice could lead to a light workload early in the season.
