RB James Cook, BUF (13 Viewers)

I think they sit him this week.
I’m deeply skeptical this happens.

Time will tell.
McDermott loves sitting players unless they are 100% and it usually costs them 1-2 games trying to sleep walk to a win. The video and FF Twitter docs think it’s a mild mid foot sprain. The laundry list of players on the injury report this week is alarming.

Hopefully he’s limited Thursday, Full Friday. Anything else they’ll sit him. McDermott usually tells everyone Friday morning and rarely goes the gamesmanship GTD route.
Is he the type of a coach that may play it safe this week since they are playing Miami..

Yes, and it’s cost them games throughout his tenure. 100% or they don’t play.

Well - At least it's the Dolphins.. Hope he's okay. One of my favorite players

He returned to practice
I'd be curious to know if he's full or limited. Hanging onto Ray Davis for now.
Honestly if he's practicing in any capacity on a Thursday I'd not even give it a second thought.

And I say this as someone who was grabbing up Ray Davis yesterday in anticipation of him missing. Fail.

It would be a split backfield if Cook sat.
Johnson has out snapped Davis this year.

I don't get why people think Davis wld just step in and takeover for Cooks role.. It would be a split backfield if anything.
Davis is over hyped.

We've had this discussion before and I don't agree with you at all.

It would be Davis 60/40 if Cook didn’t play.

We might get a Cook 40/30/30 split with all three based on injury and opponent.

Because the one time this happened last year Davis got all the touches and Ty was an afterthought. Ty is a 3rd down back. Thats it. If you dont realize that then I dont know what to tell you.

Looks like Cook was just walking around on the X post. It also says his left foot was heavily taped.
Yeah, there is limited and "LIMITED". James Cook looks really limited. Might be more GTD at best. HODL Ray Davis!
Yeah holding Ray until tmrw.

BUF lifers seem to think that McDermott likes to keep players out unless they are completely healthy. BUF could sleepwalk through this week and beat Miami by 10.

He just said he’ll be out there. I think he wants to stay in the leading rusher race. Wouldn’t be surprised if his snap count is reduced and the other two are heavily involved.
He practiced today. Once again, Weds practice reports are meaningless. This one was pretty predictable since again, he played the entire game and was the RB on the field on the last series of the game. He had no noticeable injury, nor did he come away from any play limping.

lot of wasted energy in this topic.
Wouldn’t victory lap just yet. He was limited at practice just walking around but by all accounts didn’t do much. Also he did finish the game but wasn’t effective after halftime.

If he plays you likely have to start him in redraft but because opponent plus limited snaps his ceiling is low.

I assume you're a Cook owner.

For those who are not, and who are also RB desperate, keeping tabs of this situation is worth the energy.

I am and I have Davis on that team. So whatever you’re implying here is off base. I honestly don’t care which of them starts since Davis is a capable back, but this sounded like much ado about nothing from the jump.

Wednesday “injuries” to top players are just predictable nonsense at this point. Especially if the injury is described as “soreness”:

Again - if Davis is a FA in your league, 100% grab him. He’s an injury away from stardom. But that’s likely not this week.

Wouldn’t victory lap just yet.
I’m not. At all. I’m pointing out that Cook looked fine all game, and there isn’t a play anyone can point to where he got hurt.

IIRC his 2nd longest run of the game was after halftime. Looked it up
- He had a 14 yard run on the 4th play of the 4th quarter. His longest was 17 in the 1st. He had an 11 yard reception on the last drive of the game, his 3rd longest play.

On the last drive they used him to kill clock & Prater missed the FG. But that 11 yard catch & run sure looked good to me. Seemed like that last drive had a couple of short carries to kill clock, then move the ball to the correct hash for Prater.

Anyway, I’m hoping he’s full tomorrow & off the report by Sunday. Last thing I need is a timeshare with Davis, killing both their value.

Something kind of stinks here.
lol wut
This "oh i'm playing deal", feels like we see more of this this year and it turns into an OUT on game day
I guess we’ll find out Sunday. I’m pretty confident there’s nothing wrong with him.

You know what we definitely see way more of these days? Coaches giving star players Wednesdays off & naming a random body part - probably so they’re in compliance with practice reporting rules, but

Anyway, time will tell here. Fingers crossed he’s 100% on Sunday.

You’re likely going to get managed reps regardless as he’s not 100% a lot of pictures floating around showing him getting taped up today and the swelling. Cook is tough he’ll play. He’s openly talked about wanting the rushing title. I just worry he can make it worse. If they get up 10-14 early McDermott will 100% incorporate the other backs. He's been trying to get them going more as neither have been good with their limited touches like last year.

Ray Davis has really disappointed me. I root for him, and handcuffed him with Cook. I thought that there may be some weeks this season that he might have standalone flex value, even if Cook was healthy. That has absolutely not been the case, of course. Wonder why?

because opponent plus limited snaps his ceiling is low.
Respectfully, where did you see “limited snaps for Sunday”?
That’s me, not reported. Just know how McDermott works. They like him at around a 55% snap share. It’s ballooned a few times to over 70+ this year. He’s on pace for way more touches. I just think we could be easily looking at limited snaps/touches with a mix of injury plus game script/opponent.

Now he could still have 11-55-2. I just don’t think this will be a ceiling game. Hopefully a safe floor but without receptions (they don’t throw to him much this year) it’s a potential risk. I hope the games not close but something between his NE/ATL game from a production standpoint.

He’s look slow, banged up in camp and taken awhile to get going. I’m not sure why. Frank Gore Jr even looked better than him in camp. I think that’s why he’s been getting more run at kick return to kind of get him going with confidence as they try to figure out a duo for kickoffs.

And now it’s officially a nothing burger.

Per the artist formerly known as RotoWorld
Bills RB James Cook (ankle) is not on Buffalo’s final Week 10 injury report.
ETA: update
He’ll play and get his usual run after practicing in full. Ray Davis waiver-claimers in shallow leagues can move on for the moment if they have a better use of a roster spot out there, though it is possible Davis gets more run than usual if the game turns into a blowout.

Yup. You were right.

You win in this game by being proactive. I don’t blame guys for jumping on waivers to pick someone up preemptively.
Like I said a couple times above, I was 10000% on board with adding Davis, because he should be rostered regardless as a “next man up.”

So on this part I completely agree.
if you are a Cook owner and Davis is available and your RB depth isnt fantastic, this is a must add.

I think Ray Davis can put up RB2 numbers if he were to suddenly be thrown into the starters role. He is one of those guys who is more valuable to the Cook owner than he is to anyone else. but hes a real nice insurance policy if you own Cook.
Since the RB ranks have been somewhat decimated by injury, I dont mind having a guy like this on my roster.
