I think the whole fantasy community is starting to feel that way, especially with this week and Gordon banged up. It's not like Gordon is going to get healthier as the year goes on, and this guy is young, fresh, and hungry. 

I traded for him but it only took Pollard. You'd be surprised if you trade an ancillary piece on a "star studded" offense

While this may be, it's certainly not going to stop me from writing Vic Fangio a strongly worded letter.

 I'm really hoping for something like what we saw from the Browns in Chubb's rookie year, but realize a Gordon trade is extremely wishful thinking.   I think they would really have to like where Mike Boone is on his return from IR to even consider it.

I agree. At this point I'm holding onto him as an injury/bye week fill-in. If I were stronger at RB I probably would have already dropped him (someone in my league dropped Gordon and he still hasn't been picked up).

Probably grasping at straws here, but I do wonder if the Broncos' changing fortunes will impact Fangio's decisions going forward. It was one thing when they were 3-0 to say, "Whatever we're doing, it's working." Now that they've lost three straight maybe there will be more of a temptation to shake things up.

I'm still holding. We said the same thing about Taylor last year. Same draft round and average capital, albeit the incumbent wasn't quite there with Taylor. He still had very frustrating usage.

Gordon has already picked up numerous dings and he's running hard for his next contract, but his body may not allow him such.

The team has nothing to lose by unleashing Williams in a full-time role. There will be pressure on Fangio in some capacity. 

This is all baseless speculation, but I play in a keeper league as well. I have to remain optimistic as I just traded for him and believe in the second half talent rises to the top stories. See Miles Sanders, Jonathan taylor, etc

I don't own shares of him but anywhere but am trying to get a few.....I think he is example A of that player that is kind of in the no mans land trade territory.....owners like me don't want to give up toooooo much to get him cause not totally sold yet.....and guys that do own him aren't willing to let go just yet....they still think the breakout is on the horizon, so the price is maybe a little higher than what people are actually willing to pay....people on both sides are kind of thinking he could become that RB2 that could be a league winner/season changer....so its causing an impasse....

Redraft for sure - I was trying to get him in Dynasty & owner was all about next year when presumably Gordon is gone. 

I have him in redraft and I’m considering selling to the RB-needy, but with Mixon, Henderson, CMC (Chubba) I fear I’m always just a week away from needing him myself.

if Gordon goes down I might offer him up to maximize that value. Then again. I Leo might start flexing him in that case. 

you’re spot on - he’s a tweener. But for sure a buy at a decent price now will seem like an absolute steal if Gordon misses any time over the next 12 weeks.

Javonte Williams rushed four times for 20 yards in the Broncos' Week 7 loss to the Browns, adding six receptions for 32 additional yards and a touchdown. 

As usual, Williams found himself in a 50-50 split with Melvin Gordon, who also found the end zone with an impressive lunge at the end of an eight-yard reception. The veteran out-carried Williams 8-4, though Williams got him 6-2 through the air, turning a screen into a 10-yard touchdown with 5:23 remaining. It was an impressive play, but not moreso than Gordon's score one quarter earlier. Williams is providing some big-play juice, but Gordon has hardly been chopped liver. With the passing game struggling to make noise, the Broncos are almost certainly going to keep both backs heavily involved for the foreseeable future. Williams will remain a low-end RB2/FLEX for Week 8 vs. the Football Team.

There were comments last night that Gordon didn't have the same holes, etc...OK but Williams looked really good when he was trucking with the football and I would like to see him get a full lather one week and see what Carry #20 in the 4th when the Defense is tired, like to see what that might look like. 

I see a guy that could potentially be a beast and quickly get into the Top 5-10 territory in the league if the offense is set up right, maybe higher. He's no Derrick Henry but then who is?

The kid has it all. Big, strong, fast, moves, catches well. Only problem is Melvin aint too shabby either and splitting carries on a crap team does not lead to much production. Still his floor has been pretty safe 8 points every week so in a bind hes not a bad RB2 or flex.

Still crossing my fingers and hoping like heck for a Melvin Gordon trade before the deadline.   If the Broncos D is going to tackle like it did last night, I don't know why they wouldn't be willing to sell Gordon for a pick once Mike Boone is up to speed.   However, keeping mileage off of Javonte might be their answer to this.   

For my re-draft team, it would really be the difference between having a bad backfield and a half-way decent one, somewhat dependent on Gordon's destination.   However, windfalls like these seldom seem to break in my favor.  But yes, mark me down as someone that knew the 50-50 split would probably be a thing all season but still invested.

Started both last night and at least pleased it worked out for another week.

It's best for all parties if Gordon is traded. I think this Denver team is dead in the water this year and they should start thinking about accruing picks. 

Gordon could be a productive back somewhere else for a contending team. Dream scenario 

Highly doubt Gordon is going to re-sign here unless the Broncos pay more money than some other contenders. Gordon probably doesn't want to be part of a rebuild next year (or partial rebuild). Only got a few years left of production (maybe)

Also, I'm just impressed every time Javonte gets a head of steam and gets in the open field, he has a lot of intangibles you can't teach, and he's trusted in all situations and all downs. This is really arrow pointing up if he gets 70% opportunity and stop alternating drives bull####

Yes. Snaps uneven but touches exactly equal at ten apiece. Speaks again to high degree of randomness.

Closest thing to a pattern is what you mentioned yesterday in terms of alternating series, early in games at least. Such a similar skillset.

I don't think so, but I'm not a homer. I do know that Boone was signed as a number three, money-wise, and his prowess on special teams was emphasized in his introduction to the media in Denver. The guys in charge are MN guys, I think, and they brought him over with his all-around play in mind. 

Gordon is very, very unlikely to be traded, IMO.

Melvin Gordon does have a $9MM cap hit this year, yuck. Panthers, Seahawks, Chargers, Bengals have enough cap to take that on, but that's only if they are playoff bound and take a devastating injury to Mixon or Ekeler, or even Chuba at this point. A Chargers reunion is way more likely if Ekeler goes down and it's closer to the deadline, but again, I don't hope for any injuries to anyone. Even if it is inter-divisional opponent, the Broncos would just be punting and give this guy to someone else for the rest of the year. Just scenarios. I don't see why a contender with odds are what is likely a late whatever round pick they have wouldn't give that for Gordon for the playoff push. 

Packers and Titans are around $5MM in cap space, so they would have to work around some stuff to make it happen if an injury happened. Denver also gets $2.5MM in Cap relief this year if they outright released Gordon and gave Gordon the chance to sign with a contender. Again, all unlikely scenarios.

Gordon makes $265K per game x 17 games, so really that's not much of a reason to stop paying a guy unless the Broncos truly wanted to not pay half his remaining salary for the year halfway through the year lol

kinda glad my efforts to snag him over the last couple of weeks failed.....and its not that I feel I was wrong in my assessment from my sofa.....it's just that apparently the Broncos coaching staff does not agree with most of our sofa assessments that this guy deserves waaaaaaaayyyyyyy more run.....seems crazy that we all seem to see stuff that seems pretty obvious from our sofas but the coaches don't seem to see the same thing....have heard some saying its because if they sit Gordon, it would look like another bad signing by Elway and a waste of money.....and Elway is godlike in Denver....

Probably but not enough to just send Gordon to the bench. 

The rumors of Gordon's demise we're incorrect. He put up 4.6 on 200+ carries last year and 4.5 on his 78 carries this year. He's been a strong RB for years and continues to do so. He's not elite but he's good. His knock has always been durability not ability.

Javonte hasn't done nearly enough to warrant supplanting a strong veteran in front of him.

This isn't David Johnson vs Chris Johnson in 2015.

Fangio has nearly zero pull on personnel decisions.  Can’t believe their new GM will keep Fangio around after this season.

Javonte Williams rushed 17 times for 111 yards in the Broncos' Week 9 win over the Cowboys.

Williams wasn't targeted in the passing game but was ripping off big runs all afternoon en route to his first career 100-yard game. Unfortunately, after some big gains in the first quarter that got the Broncos into the scoring area, Melvin Gordon came in to vulture a three-yard touchdown. Teddy Bridgewater then scored a one-yard touchdown later in the game. Gordon actually out-carried Williams 21-17, but Williams out-gained him 111-80 while Gordon saw all three backfield targets. With Gordon still pacing this timeshare, Williams will be more of an RB2/FLEX next week against the Eagles.

The roughly 50/50 timeshare is in fact and showing no signs of receding. Denver will continue to contend for a WC spot. He's still a great keeper/dynasty prospect. Shows special traits every single week. The key remains what happens with Gordon and Fangio.

Will Fangio be back? Will Gordon resign? There's no way he'll get, given the RB market, a contract close to what he has now, but it's not absurd to think he may return.

I have him in my keeper league and am hoping for a clear lead role in 2022. Id that happens- look out.

Right now -- and full disclosure, I have Williams on my main squad and traded away Gordon before last year, even -- Williams looks to be a better runner. Perhaps he's missing assignments or holes that I'm missing, but Gordon looks a step behind Williams right now.

That's not to say Gordon looks bad, or even that he doesn't look good (he looks good), it's just that Williams is much more of a threat for an explosive run every time he touches the ball.

But complaining about usage is so par for the owner course in fantasy football, and I don't want to fall into that trap.

Another slightly below-average, but reasonable fantasy output with a 6 YPC average.

I never saw a team hold back such a clearly dynamic player. Yeah Gordon is still good. I get it. This team is going nowhere and this kid looks like a freaking stud with his power and ability to break big runs while also being able to catch and pass block.

Actually I do remember when the titans kept giving the ball to a washed up DeMarco Murray over Henry.

Esther Hicks would say paraphrasing, 'Can you take the punch in the gut and still feel good?' Interesting watching this DEN Bronco football team as they are in the hunt for a WC spot for sure. I believe they have two talented RB's and so far the system and sharing works for them. I have J Williams in two leagues, and Gordon in one of them with Williams. Started Gordon and Williams in another. Got the W, and I still remain steadfast, although realizing Williams is a hold and will look nice on the bench unless he's the next best. I do like his talent as does everyone else here. J Williams scores a TD and 14 points and then we'd be talking all is well - keep getting the rookie more chances.

DEN has a decent D and solid WR's. Teddy is sufficient to manage this team.
