RB Jaydon Blue, DAL (2 Viewers)

Do you guys think Ollie Gordon is a better stash than Jaydon Blue? I like Blue's chances with only 2 JAGS ahead of him. At the same time Achane's injury may or many not be serious/linger and we know if Miami's offense is clicking, 2 backs can have value in that offense. Thoughts?

For me, no. And it's not really close. Blue has the most immediate path to touches. And it feels like an overwhelming majority of people are low on Miami this year; fantasy experts, NFL experts, Vegas, etc. Everyone is calling their shot that offense will stink, and it will be a tear down rebuild going into next year. I like Ollie Gordon's talent, but we all know and have experienced a regime change does not bode well for depth chart players on a team. Gordon was drafted by this regime, and the next will likely want to draft their own guys regardless of Gordon's skill level. Not saying it's a definite thing to happen, but another red flag and hurdle that Blue just won't have to jump over. So I like Blue better for this season and the future over Gordon.
 
I'm all in on Blue. This information from Roto Street Journal is very impressive, he is not just a speed guy.

Despite his small frame (5’9”, 198 lbs), Blue is also phenomenal at running through contact. 73% of his rush yards were after contact, #1 in this class. His 4.0 yards after contact/rush were #4 in this class, and his 3.4 YPC when hit at/behind the line-of-scrimmage was #1. He can make something happen out of nothing with the best of them. Ultimately, he took 134 carries for 730 yards (5.4 YPC) and 8 TDs, including a ton of production in the biggest games.

Where Blue really thrived was a receiver. His 25% target rate was #2 in this class, while his 16% slot share was #1. He’s capable of a full route tree, and recorded some impressive contested TD grabs. Ultimately, he hauled in 42 passes for 368 yards and 6 TDs.

Ultimately, Blue might be the best big-play outside zone threat in this class – he averaged 7.3 YPC on these types of runs, which was best in the class. The Cowboys run outside zone at a Top-5 rate, making this a glove-like fit.

I took Blue over Allen last night in the last of my two big home leagues. From the 1 spot at 11.01 (took Sampson at 10.12). Allen made it back to me at 12.12 where I took him and Woody Marks at 13.01. FWIW but this home league is very rookie averse. Also much of the market is staying away from Jets, just saying. I think the simple answer is it's a coin flip, every league is different and you should go with your instinct on it. I think both players are hits so you kind of can't go wrong. I think Blue has the 3rd down role already and will be involved enough to shine and be relevant week 1. I think there is a path for him to become the 1 to Javonte at a distant number 2 whereas I don't think Breece Hall will ever be worse than 1B unless there is injury or trade. So I kind of give the opportunity edge to Blue but Allen perhaps profiles better in terms of his size. Like I said coin flip. I *think* the Dallas offense is better than New York but I also think NY might have a decent locker room right now and want to win, whereas I have no idea how ugly the Dallas locker room might be.

If it's dumpster fire it's possible that's a good thing for the rookie but on paper the Cowboys are the better offense.

As I understand it they're not even carrying a 3rd RB in the game. That's ludicrous. Eagles might really embarrass them tonight.

Never want to hear two things. The rookie you're hoping will win the job is 1) hurt and 2) lazy (?!)

That's a disastrous combination.
 
A good chance the vet RB's look like crap tonight and the door will open soon for Blue. They will need some lightning and speed for their outside zone scheme and the vets are not it.

What is the genesis of it then? I'm curious. There's a lot of stuff that once it's out there just can't be retracted and then sometimes there's just a counter to a real story where misinformation is claimed by the party harmed by the story claims misinformation but the counterclaim is actually the real misinformation itself.
 
Never mind. I looked it up. It's too bad that garbage like that happens. Jeez. You'd figure you wouldn't want to lie like that and lose your reputation in the process. Over Jaydon Blue? Is the ten minutes of attention worth it? Criminy.
 
Schotty mentioned Blue, saying you have to be consistent in practice and not be up and down. I believe it was in response to why certain players were inactive.

For the record, I absolutely believe the earlier report about the coaches being disappointed in Blue's work ethic. The latest statement by Schotty didn't necessarily point to laziness, but it's pretty clear they aren't exactly happy with his practice habits.

Blue is going to get his chance, but he's evidently going to have to shape up a little bit. No clue if that chance will come this week, although, Sanders didn't do himself any favors with the fumble.

Yeah, I was told this was false. I saw what Schottenheimer said a few weeks ago and I wanted to come in here and post about it, but I figured it's a bad vibe and looks like you're victory lapping other people's crap end of the stick and I don't want to be that guy. First of all, when barack told me it was ******** I believed him and put it out of my mind, but my reaction at the time (I might have typed it out) was why would a anybody other than a completely weak attention whore or sociopath want to lie so egregiously about stuff so that you burn all your connections with his friends and in the process ruin your own reputation with the social equivalent of nuking yourself and making yourself completely toxic. It was weird. But there are sociopaths and just selfish and evil dudes. And it is Dallas Cowboys football and probably the worst element of big money is running the marquee sports franchise in Texas. I mean, Dallas is obnoxious in its own right. Then add a 80-something megalomaniacal man of questionable ethics into the mix. ****'s a powder keg. So I believed the dude might lie. But not after Schottenheimer gave that answer. I mean, why bother with the diplomacy at that point? Just go off and freaking light the fire under Blue's *** at that point. I actually think he's way more disappointed and pissed than he was letting on because that actually conveyed to me an unrestrained anger if you were slightly in the know.

Anyway, I typed this out because he's on my league's waivers but he's off them the 27th and typing this out just helped me decide to not touch that situation with a ten-foot pole.

Had to drop him in 12-team redraft. I have Miles Sanders on my roster not sure that is much better but he will be first up if Williams gets hurt for Cowboys

I pretty much believed the accusations when they came out, but you never know. Once Schotty spoke of the situation, it became evident there was an issue with Blue. Schotty didn't come out and say he was lazy, but it's not too difficult to read between the lines. Maybe Blue simply doesn't give the kind of effort expected of a pro or maybe he's not been diligent with his iPad stuff (studying his assignments).

You have to think Blue is going to get a chance at some point, but Schotty is old-school. It won't happen until he gets with the program. I mean, who knows...next week, next season, or never.

Oh yeah, totally. I think attempting the diplomacy without covering for the dude was worse because it sorta gets into that territory where that unspoken stuff can be so damaging. I don’t know. That sort of “I’m not telling everybody directly but I’m telling everybody who is paying attention and is important that you’re a **** up and I don’t care for your behavior” never fully sits well with me nor, I’ve found, does it seem (seem) to sit well with other people who are close to the situation unless I’ve been a total tyrant or unconscionable or something like that.

Schotty may have tried other avenues with Blue. He's been in the program several months. Maybe nothing else was working. It might've gotten to the point where he felt like answering the reporter's question more honestly instead of coach-speak might spark something in Blue. I don't think he trashed him or anything.

Also, Javonte looking good gives Schotty less of a reason to give Blue a shot. I don't remember what they're paying Williams, but it's not a ton. That looks like a nice signing right now.

So far he’s had zero touches which makes me think the chances of him becoming a bye week filler is pretty low this season. I’m happy to reassess after he gets a few caries. Whenever that is…

Yeah, they were either hazing this guy or something was up, but that "ex-coach," or whatever he was, spat some truth. They just didn't like that he did.

Oh, and by the way, I had a feeling that what Schotty did was a function of seething because he tried to walk it back. LOL.

We challenged him, we talked to him about consistency, working harder on the scout team and things like that, man it’s huge. Give him credit, he’s been terrific. ESPN’s Todd Archer reports Jaydon Blue is expected to make his Cowboys debut in Week 5 against the Jets.

That tells you all you need to know about Miles Sanders’ odds of getting off the report for Week 5. Fantasy teams don’t need to rush to pick up Blue, but he’ll make for an intriguing stash in deeper leagues while we see how it plays out behind Javonte Williams. Perhaps the rookie can force his way into a real passing downs role.
 
This is even more amazing. Check this ish out. Blue wore Louis Vuitton cleats to practice and was laying down during the practice claiming the shoes gave him blisters.

eta* Hard to believe the coaches aren't dreaming of this guy being on their team. Let me ask a question, please. You're the Dallas Cowboys. This cat went to UT-Austin. Did you make it out there and interview anybody? Like, this dude just decided to get this weird and outwardly showily dysfunctional from when you drafted him in April?

I find it difficult to believe you wouldn't have gotten an inkling had you sent just a warm body to ask anybody in a ten-mile radius of the football facilities what they knew about this guy and was he a righteous dude.

Cowboys rookie RB Jaydon Blue on making his debut Sunday vs. the Jets: “I’m very excited. I was waiting for my time. I stayed patient. I was told to trust the process. I knew eventually if I stayed consistent and worked hard that time would come.”

He said his feet are fine after getting blisters from wearing his new Louis Vuitton Nike custom cleats during practice yesterday. Brian Schottenheimer gave him a hard time about it.

Schottenheimer: “That’s part of what you deal with with young players. Quickly he changed his cleats and, amazing, the blisters weren’t as bad.”
