They have 21 days to activate him:They have until 4pm Saturday to officially activate him. The part thats confusing to me is the pup designation is clear you can't practice while on it. Nothing easy with this journey.

"Once the player begins practicing, a team gets a three-week window to decide whether to activate him or leave him on PUP for the remainder of the season."

The #Colts are listing RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) as questionable for Sunday vs. the Titans. They'll see how his body feels after two full practices before making a final call Saturday on whether to activate him.

the games are so silly. Why wouldn’t they activate him? Get him out there…you won…didn’t need to pay him or trade him. Now let him help you win games.
Colts beat writer said they just want to see how Taylor tells them his body feels after his first two full days of practice.the games are so silly. Why wouldn’t they activate him? Get him out there…you won…didn’t need to pay him or trade him. Now let him help you win games.
Agreed. What will you know tomorrow that you don't know today?
How is waiting to see how his body feels after his 2nd practice in over 9 months playing games?the games are so silly. Why wouldn’t they activate him? Get him out there…you won…didn’t need to pay him or trade him. Now let him help you win games.
How many touches he’ll get depends on how he looks. They don’t give a shot about him…they aren’t gonna have him in a pitch count. They’re gonna use him…and why wouldn’t you?
It’s not like he’s been sitting on a beach…he doesn’t have a real injury. He did 2 practices….the guy is a pro..he’s not staying out because he’s a bit sore after 2 practices. How is waiting to see how his body feels after his 2nd practice in over 9 months playing games?the games are so silly. We have no idea what kind of shape he's in, and there's a huge difference between being in regular shape vs. being in football shape. It’s not like he’s been sitting on a beach…he doesn’t have a real injury. I'm not picking sides but I get what humps is saying and we're not there at practice. We have no idea what kind of shape he's in, and there's a huge difference between being in regular shape vs. being in football shape. It’s not like he’s been sitting on a beach…he doesn’t have a real injury. So the Colts are just playing silly games, that's what you're sticking with?

It's possible he's not in game shape. I know last year is not a good marker but he wasn't having a good season
-Pump the brakes is all I think some folks are saying here, it's not disbelief or hate, it's just using a little common sense and not get carried away
Things can change but not everything has to be TMZ
-My take is Indy is still looking at their offers and trying to figure out a way to leverage the most possible for him. Waddle wasn't a good start, neither was Watson apparently so they know the market is rather soft and they will be lucky to get whatever they were offered, we've heard rumors of a 4th which seems awfully low, I would expect at least a 2nd and a conditional pick on top to make things work at this point, what teams would do that? Miami seems like the ship has sailed with Achane at this point.
But there are teams that would like to have him, there has to be at least 2-3 that want ot move in and scoop him up. I can see a strong Playoff team pushing a chip all in on him.
But you look at SF-PHI-DAL, they're full. KC-BUF both seem to have their starting RB problem solved or close, so now we look to lesser teams, would Tampa Bay like a nice Cha-Ching at RB to help Baker and maybe make a real push to the Playoffs? Just questions

Multiple beat and national writers have said the market is dead right now, teams are interested but no active or serious trade talks. My take is Indy is still looking at their offers and trying to figure out a way to leverage the most possible for him.
Do they have active offers?
Mostly correct, but the comp pick formula is complicated that the compensation could be less than a 3rd, considering that running backs are not getting paid much anymore.I not positive that I understand the compensatory pick rules, but it seems to me that the Colts could simply let him play, make a market level offer for him in the off season, and then gather a 3rd round comp pick for him when he signs elsewhere. If that’s the case, why would they ever take less than a second for him?
if you have a better understanding of the comp pick rules, I won’t be embarrassed to be wrong.

I posted earlier that a player signing for $11M these days would earn a 4th round comp pick (if the Colts didn’t sign a similar free agent). Who knows if a team would even give Taylor that much. With contracts at other positions on the rise, Taylor could conceivably be on the 4/5 round cut line.Mostly correct, but the comp pick formula is complicated that the compensation could be less than a 3rd, considering that running backs are not getting paid much anymore.I not positive that I understand the compensatory pick rules, but it seems to me that the Colts could simply let him play, make a market level offer for him in the off season, and then gather a 3rd round comp pick for him when he signs elsewhere. I agree. My guess is they franchise him before we see what that formulate brings....
I think the comp pick they would get for Taylor (or anyone) is also offset by the free agent signings they make. Depending on the other moves they make, they could end up with no comp pick for him.Mostly correct, but the comp pick formula is complicated that the compensation could be less than a 3rd, considering that running backs are not getting paid much anymore.I not positive that I understand the compensatory pick rules, but it seems to me that the Colts could simply let him play, make a market level offer for him in the off season, and then gather a 3rd round comp pick for him when he signs elsewhere. It’s really not. Every year as soon players move there are internet people that already know what all the comp picks will be.
Activated
Going to be interesting to see the work split.Indianapolis Colts @Colts
We have activated RB Jonathan Taylor from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list and waived RB Jake Funk.
Huh?Not bad for a guy with no leverage.
I think he got a pretty good contract for a guy with no leverage.Huh?Not bad for a guy with no leverage.
Agreed. Came here to say exactly that.I think he got a pretty good contract for a guy with no leverage.Huh?Not bad for a guy with no leverage.
Maybe. Still remains to be seen how productive he is & how many TDs ARich vultures. All those who drafted in late drafts and got Taylor in the 6th - 9th rounds this is a game changer I got some shares but clearly not enough
I missed that. What did he get? I wouldn't have played the card you did however. He didn't have any leverage.I think he got a pretty good contract for a guy with no leverage.Huh?Not bad for a guy with no leverage.
