It has been reported that his initial trade request was before today and the answer was not no.Quoting myself here but this did in fact get ugly. I'm going to guess in a few days we will hear that Taylor's agent has requested a trade, might have already done so.You will or have already read he got put on the PUP list but I think it's contract related....and might get ugly.
Not that anything will come out of it because I just don't see anyone giving up enough to make it worth the Colts while to lock down Taylor for next two years because he's due a little over $4m this year and any team trading for him would be expected to extend him. Not impossible but seems hard anyone wants to give up enough to make it work.
Such a sweet kidand the Jets are going for it this year
Dan Snyder does need to pass the torch to someone…I would love to have been a fly on the wall during that Irsay Taylor meeting.
Irsay is such a jackass...easily my least liked owner, and there are several owners I'm not a fan of.
Didn’t Irsay basically respond to talk of RB contracts with “good luck with that?” (Paraphrasing)Taylor has formally requested a trade.![]()
Probably correct, but that’s a large number that I don’t see many NFL teams paying. This is absolutely the right move for Taylor.
Kick and scream. Yes, RB is devalued. But someone might pay. Taylor doesn't need everyone in the NFL to agree to pay him. He needs one team. If the Colts plan is to run him into the ground after they franchise him once, this is the time to see if someone will give him a long term deal.
If he forced his way out of town, maybe he gets 20 mill up front on a five year deal that's bargain for the team. Having that money up front is a big deal. You can put that money to work, so any low salary years down the road are made up for.
Think Ballard also said when asked the RB market, "it is what it is".Didn’t Irsay basically respond to talk of RB contracts with “good luck with that?” (Paraphrasing)
Yeah - not feeling super optimistic about a new deal here
I have him in 2/3 dynasty leaguesDepth chart on Colts website now lists Deon Jackson as RB1.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor has requested a trade after meeting with owner Jim Irsay.
Irsay met with Taylor on Saturday after the Colts’ owner had choice words regarding the league-wide running backs zoom held earlier in the week. Apparently the two sides could not console their differences behind closed doors as Taylor promptly requested a trade away from the franchise. Taylor appeared in just 11 games in 2022 but led the league in rushing in 2021 by a significant margin, racking up over 1,800 yards on his way to the rushing title. He started camp on the physically unable to perform list while he recovers from ankle surgery earlier in the offseason, but he should be ready to once again challenge for the rushing title when teams take to the field for the coming season. It remains unclear what kind of market will materialize for the dominant rusher.
After meeting with Irsay on his fancy bus/RV thing for an hour.Taylor has formally requested a trade.![]()
This is likely more due to physical injury than financial, but ya never know.Depth chart on Colts website now lists Deon Jackson as RB1.
Dalvin may want to wait on signing with the JetsDepth chart on Colts website now lists Deon Jackson as RB1.
There's 10 RBs with cap numbers over 8 mill this year. Teams are franchising guys, then they let them go. They are fine with paying 10 mill for one year. They aren't fine with paying 12 mill a year for four years. Next best thing is as much up front as possible.Probably correct, but that’s a large number that I don’t see many NFL teams paying.
May have to throw in Valdes-ScantlingMaybe the Chiefs can get him for CEH
That's the kind of pettiness I'm here for.Depth chart on Colts website now lists Deon Jackson as RB1.
Nah. I think it's the last depth chart from last season. This is likely more due to physical injury than financial, but ya never know.Depth chart on Colts website now lists Deon Jackson as RB1.
If they’re not going to give JT a new contract, why would they pay Cook ~$8-10 mil?Dalvin may want to wait on signing with the JetsDepth chart on Colts website now lists Deon Jackson as RB1.

Someone in the colts front office is lazy AF then, because the Vikes had Mattison on their Twitter header before they even released Cook. lolNah. Dark horse: SeattleSo…landing spots?
Chiefs?
Bears?
Walker owners would have an embolism.Dark horse: Seattle
Bears?
Isn't that when you can afford it?I don't know if the Bears want to pay a guy when they have two guys on rookie deals as we speak.

Belichick trading a higher pick to pay big money for a RB feels very out of character.Bears?

Gotta think the Dolphins, Pats, and others before they come calling.
ETA: If they didn't have the look of tanking, and some cap issues of their own, this would scream LA Rams.
Is there a way the Jets and Seahawks could sign/share him?Dark horse: SeattleSo…landing spots?

Once again, like Cook I can’t see the Pats paying for a JT. Just not their style. They’re the OG’s of going cheap at RB.Pats
Isn’t this time of year super fun?!There'd go my share of Roschon Johnson.
Just to add to the Bears idea. Matt Eberflus did overlap with Taylor's 2 best seasons. So…landing spots?
Bears?

Depth chart, yes. But the roster page has all three QB's listed. This btw is the one flaw in the plan of the draft, use up for 4-7 years and discard approach to RB’s. They start
