RB Jonathan Taylor, IND (2 Viewers)

There's only one other team (undisclosed to my knowledge) that has put in a bid for him.

I hope he stays put, I don't want to face him during the season, especially on the Dolphins.

I'm told at this hour, at least two teams are still actively working to construct a trade for #Colts RB Jonathan Taylor --respectively making substantive offers--and are mutually willing to give Taylor a market contract, per source.

Any team other than Denver or Chicago and I'll be happy.
The Bears are already out of it. I'd only be OK with Denver if Javonte Williams going to Indy was part of the deal.

Can't see Buffalo (money) or Denver (no need/bigger needs) being in on Taylor.

Minnesota would be interesting, though with Jefferson and Hockenson needing new deals, I wonder if they'd be keen on bringing in another guy like that. I also think they like Mattison more than the fantasy community does. I honestly think they think he's a better RB than Cook for KOC's offense.

I wouldn't rule out the Bears, they have cap room, a run first offense, and a link to Taylor with Eberflus. Rams are interesting as McVay has a very love, hate, love with Akers, and have made strides to upgrade the OL. As much as people want to act like the Rams are tanking, but I don't think that's in McVay's DNA.

Washington would be interesting to me. They have the money, a HC on a short leash, a new QB, and a new owner.

If I were Indy, if its a deal with Miami, I think I'd want Achane to be in the deal. Nice speedy weapon to exploit teams who try to overcommit to Richardson rushing, and a cheap rookie deal guy. Like I'd take Achane and a 4 for Taylor if I were them.

If the other teams are making Taylor decent contract offers it becomes more critical he is traded. Things will not work out in Indy if they fail to trade him, this will be bad. The good news is I think they know this as well.

I don't know who the other team is but I'll tell you all it's not the Vikings. They are doing a competitve rebuild, this is not in their plans.

Maybe there is no serious second team and this is all BS the Colts are trying to put out to make Miami raise their price? I stress the word serious, of course a lot of teams would want him.

Quite possible they would create a "phantom bidder" to do just that.

Is the deadline today or tomorrow to get a deal done?

It could also be his camp, with a last ditch effort to try and drum up interest 24 hrs. before the "deadline". Heck, we don't even know how interested Miami is, in terms of what they're offering both the Colts and Taylor.

I posted some of this in the Dolphins thread earlier(because I thought I was in the Taylor thread) but if there is a serious second team it's Wasington that makes the most sense to my brain. Strong D, weapons in passing game and Taylor heading the running game could be enough for a playoff push in thinner NFC and make life easier on Howell.

But the sneaky team my best guess is that second team, again if there is one, is the Eagles. I'm a big Swift/Penny owners plus got gobs of Devonta and Goedert so I don't want that at all and in fact would sort of be crushed. It's not their MO to pay for RB's. Just heard from good source last week they were for sure one of the initial teams to reach out. They've spent seconds on RB's and if Taylor cost them a 2 and some change so it's not totally inconceivable especially if structured to get out after the 2025 season before Hurts big money kicks in and they got to extend some guys like Devonta.

The Colts deadline is tomorrow which I think, not 100% sure on this, but I think that's the deadline you need to come of PUP or you are on it for the first 4 games of the season.

Pure speculation on my part: if the Colts move Taylor, whether to the Fish or any other Team, rather than getting a RB back as part of the deal, they aquire other assets, and immediately sign Kareem Hunt to be AR's developmental best friend/security blanket. I may be mistaken, but I doubt I came up with that thought on my own. I think there are sources out there who have speculated the Colts have a deal in principle in place with Hunt, pending a Taylor trade.

Again, I can't figure out why that scenario is going through my mind, between everything I'm reading/researching here and elsewhere (articles and the Pool), and having the Sirius/XM Fantasy Channel playing 24/7 on my computer, my home stereo and my truck - information overload during draft season - somebody credible must have talked about that at some point.

All I know is that's the scenario I'd really like to see play out.

Does Minnesota have the cap space? Seems like a good landing spot. Wonder who this second team is?
I dont really think they have the money. Big contract for JJ is priority.

Spending a lot on RB also seems to be against their budget philosophy, which is why they cut Cook.

I wouldnt rule it out completely as there are always ways to work the cap and find money. Thier trade for Hockenson last year was a bit of a surprise and to really make that worthwile they need to find money to pay him as well, but they did do that and the Vikings do seem focused on loading up on offense despite their greater needs on defense.

Is that how it works??? This is why we keep these writers around.
You know what Rapaport always does?

Whenver something happens out of the blue, Rapaport will preface the tweet with, "As expected, so and so was traded today".

He plays it off like he had heard some whispers kind of thing. He's such a fraud. Schefter breaks stories, Josina breaks stories, this guy never does.

I notice that in the FBG updates as well

I hope he doesn't go to Miami. Potential cap casualties next year and savings include X ($18M), Ogbah (sure thing at $10M) ), Baker ($10M) , Cedric Wilson (done at $7M). Plus JT would count big vs the cap. How can you replace a starting CB and LBB and more with little cap space and only a 1st, and no 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round pick. Keep the 2nd and roll with Mostert, Achane. Ahmed, & Brooks who combined might be better at receiving and short yardage than JT.

Howie Roseman leaves no stone unturned. I'm 100% he reached out to the Colts/Taylor. But the Eagles interest probably ends if/when Taylor says a new contract is required for a trade.

If you win the Superbowl this season I think the fans will be fine.

Maybe they’ll go full Rams mode and mortgage the next decade on one shot at the Lombardi now.
