RB Latavius Murray, BUF (1 Viewer)

Yes, but he is on my bench. I thought if you don't start the chump you can kick him to the curb.

The only one I remember that would let you do that was Sandbox, and that was like 20 years ago. They would even let you pick up a player from the wire while they were playing. Site was crazy.

Ravens signed RB Latavius Murray, formerly of the Saints, to a one year deal worth up to $2 million.

Baltimore now has a group of castoffs and Ty'Son Williams to replace J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards, both of whom will miss the 2021 season with knee injuries. Murray joins Williams, Le'Veon Bell, and Devonta Freeman in the Ravens backfield ahead of their Week 1 matchup against Vegas. Murray, 31, is coming off a career-high 4.5 yards per carry in 2020, though he appeared sluggish in the preseason and was essentially replaced by a younger, more explosive back in Tony Jones. Murray's size and physicality would seem to be a good fit in Baltimore's offense. Williams should be considered the odds-on favorite to operate as the team's primary ball carrier for now. Murray should be rostered in most 12-team leagues. Fantasy managers who largely faded early-round running backs should be aggressive in picking up the veteran.

I had Lat Murray on three teams where I also had Kamara, so I’m pretty intrigued by this. He could be the best of the bunch there and surely adds some power. May be a good “sell high” at least.

Whats his ceiling?

maybe 65 YFS, 2 receptions & 0.4 TDs /G?

10-12 PPG in PPR, & that’s If everything breaks right.

He still has the vision and athleticism to find the seam, cut, and get upfield. He's a capable receiver, and once in space, can be a playmaker. Somebody will value him. what do you think he’d bring in redraft? maybe a Boyd/Landry/JJSS kind of a WR?

On a personal note, I'm glad Jamison Crowder got covid so I could put him on IR, otherwise I would have dropped Murray.

Who the hell knows how this will work out, and we may not know until week 5 or after.

Come on, man.
I hope he gets out of the hospital though. I don't want to see anything bad happen to him.

I thought Selah said there’s still a chance he’ll play Sunday.

The Covid protocols allow us to do a little IR shenanigans while we’re waiting for murky things to clear up. I had Lamb and Succop on Covid IR for about 10 days. It’s like getting a couple extra short term roster spots.

Do we see him getting action this week? He’s been with the Saints through camp so it’s not like he’s coming in off the couch.

Great point, but the big question is the playbook, but that is less relevant at the RB position with the exception of pass protection.  I believe Williams has to get off to a great start, because if he doesn't, Murray can replace him very easily and soon.

Need a fact check on the rules, but I believe that by putting him on the 53 man roster, they have guaranteed his contract for the full year.  Bell and Murray were both signed to the practice squad, and neither are guaranteed.  Absent some really extraordinary circumstances, I don’t see Bell or Murray cutting into his share of the offense.

Given Baltimore’s love of running back committees, I expect a very strong season.

Yes Murray was signed directly to the team so his contract is guaranteed- although it seems mostly incentive laden.

He’s a lock while one of Bell or Freeman could be easily released.

Latavius Murray rushed 10 times for 28 yards and one touchdown in the Ravens' Week 1 loss to the Raiders.

It was all Ty'Son Williams in the first half for the Ravens, but the coaches curiously switched course and featured Murray more after the break, as the 31-year-old veteran ended up out-carrying Williams 10-9, though Williams (9-65-1) did much more with his looks. Murray scored from eight yards out in the fourth quarter to put the Ravens up by a touchdown. It sure looks like he's going to be part of the one-two punch alongside Williams for the foreseeable future in Baltimore. Murray will be an RB3 next week against the Chiefs.

wat..

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that Latavius Murray is expected to be the Ravens' lead back in Week 4.

Baltimore called up Le'Veon Bell from the practice squad yesterday, but it sounds like Murray will headline this backfield in Week 4. Ty'Son Williams has been the more efficient rusher, but the Ravens have been hesitant to hand the rookie too large of a workload. Murray brings a dependable veteran presence at the running back position, although he does lack the juice of someone like Williams at this stage in his career. It's difficult to trust any Ravens back today against a stingy Broncos defense.

What does this guy know.

Still a tough matchup. And doesn't mean T. Williams/Bell/Freeman don't get touches.

Not going to adjust, but if he emerges as the clear 1A today...great.

Any news on the severity of his ankle injury?

I'm torn on whether to bail out completely on this BALT backfield mess or double up and try and get either D. Freeman or L. Bell just in case one of these guys emerges.

One factor: Bye week in week 8. If we see another muddled mess week 7, all of them will be dropped heading into the bye.

I mean, even if he's out, Ty'son will just slide into his place in the mud.

They moved Bell to the 53-man roster today, so I am assuming Murray is down for a bit.

Two DNPs in a row. Not good. Injury + a muddled backfield not the greatest situation.

If Murray DNPs today for a third day in a row, is he a hold?

Next week BALT has a bye week. Cutting the chord prior to this week's games and stashing somebody probably more prudent than waiting until Tuesday when you have to fight others for pickups.

Why?  He’s the clear starter over The other RBs they have.

"Clear" starter?

Did all of Freeman's touches come after Murray hurt his ankle?

L. Bell also in the mix.

Three RBs. Three different RB TDs.
Prior to the week he was injured he was as best of a starter as Baltimore will ever give a single RB.  If Murray is healthy I don’t see Freeman or Bell being a better option.  Maybe it gets to a point where they all cancel each other out, but I doubt it.

I cut him Monday.  I seriously doubt he plays Sunday. The move of adding Bell to the 53 says Bell will be there for 3 weeks.  Probably 50/50 he plays the game after the bye.  Nobody in Ravens backfield is worth holding two weeks in a small bench league - in my opinion

That's what I'm thinking.

And he's a DNP today. See below.

Out week 7, then a bye...do we have confidence that he's the guy week 9? If I were a betting man I'd probably put my dollars on it being a three person committtee vs. Murray getting the lion's share.

The Baltimore Sun's Jonas Shaffer said Latavius Murray (ankle) didn't practice Friday and is "likely" out for Week 7 against the Bengals.

I think it is premature to cut Murray in a 12 team or more league with 24 man rosters or greater.  Especially if you think Bell or Freeman will be all that relevant once Murray is healthy.

Come on Ravens... quit messing around and give up a 6th or 7th for Mack already.

This AARP RB (AARRB?) room isn’t going to get it done late in the season. You guys are contenders, make the move already.

24 man rosters? :lmao:

How about 15 man rosters like all 3 of my leagues?

17 man roster was mine where I cut him.  24 man roster, I’m keeping any RB with a pulse

Anyone know what the deal is with Murray's ankle injury?

He's had a week plus a bye week this week to recover.

Thinking of stashing him now in the hope that if healthy, he jumps back into the #1 slot.

Not practicing today...after a bye week...damnit.

Dropped him previously but then picked him up in waivers. That may have been a waste.

May drop him for Hyde now (although no idea if J. Robinson is practicing).

I can see your chasing a rainbow with some hope for a prize. I had Murray for a couple weeks and good riddins and not looking back. Hyde may get you a week - check Robinson. Not much out there for RB's in fantasy land now. Seems like the RB squeeze happens every year. I keep telling myself to load up on quality RB's and that is a good strategy. Injuries change the landscape and now we must adjust, ala, D Henry for one of my teams sitting 6-2 T1 and 1st in total points - we pay two ways. Cannot replace Henry's production, but can still compete and adapt.

One week plays can get you enough for a win. I played D'Earnest two weeks ago and he was great. Hyde could easily get 50-60 total yards and a score. Murray could also punch one in for the same yardage. All in all Baltimore is searching for viable RB options, and there are a lot of them. Hyde would get the lions share.

Chasing after a lot of rainbows...Murray, Hyde, AP, J. Wilson, J. Patterson. You name 'em I'm chasin' 'em.

If I see Robinson isn't practicing, Murray is gone that's for sure. Probably gone anyway since if he didn't get healthy after a bye week, I doubt he's ready tmrw or Friday. Plus, Freeman/Bell/Williams still hanging around. Ugh.

Can you get Hyde now? FBG's are thinking Hyde as of right now around RB #25 for the week.

Broncos signed RB Latavius Murray off the Saints' practice squad.

Murray, 32, is the Broncos' answer in the wake of Javonte Williams' season-ending torn ACL and LCL. Murray, of course, was elevated to the Saints' 53-man roster this past weekend in London and responded with an 11/57/1 rushing line. We'd still venture to guess Melvin Gordon and Mike Boone will get the first cracks at carries for Denver, but Murray is a veteran option if Gordon and Boone can't get the job done.

FBG's WW Report was incredibly high on the FAAB w Murray. It caught me off guard.

I'm bidding where I need RB help and have a budget. Gordon and Boone weren't impressive the other night.
