RB Latavius Murray, BUF (1 Viewer)

How excited is everybody for the upcoming KC game if Latavius comes out and lights SF up for 100+ total yards and 2 TD's? The should try and take the pressure off Carr he's playing like poop right now. What better way then to get the ball into Murray's hands early and often.

Not trying to be a killjoy here, but you people who are trusting him in playoff lineups are NUTS. He's made one nice play in his career, and this offense stinks.

I understand what you're saying but he's made more plays than that. I'm not saying he's a lock to tear it up but he looks really good and even if he's a bad 3 down back that's worth a flex start with the 2-3 catches + GL work he's likely to get. Probably won't be on the GL much though......

Exactly. He's a nice stash in keeper leagues but to throw him in in a playoff game without any track record based on one play is insane.

All true. Obviously, you'd need to be in a pinch, but sometimes a team may be just there.

If you have a Pierre Thomas / F Jax backup, then I could see someone going upside if they felt it would be needed.

Furthermore, a guy needs SOME "first week" back... if he can be decent against the 9ers, bodes better for future performance if you get there.

his redzone is 90 yds out

Take away the 90 yard run and you have... 10 touches for 81 yards and 1 TD, in basically 2 quarters of work.

Having said that, defer to the Raider fan, but then as you say why not hold, see what he does vs SF on your bench and then if that goes well (for those in need at RB2) consider him vs the Chiefs.

I am crossing my fingers for the SF because the RB2s I have (Gio, Hill, Bell) are not cutting it. Based on my lineup, I just need a minimum of 15pts in week 15/16 and I will be happy.

Yeah, I like the guy and all, but the over-reaction is out of control. He's not going to break 90 yard runs every game and just because he had a huge game against KC in Oakland (which of course boiled down to that 90 yard run) doesn't mean that he can do it again in KC. KC obviously had an off night that night - would anyone be shocked if they completely destroyed Oakland next week despite losing to them a couple of weeks back?

The 49'ers will be selling out to stop the run. I don't like the matchup at all.
The 49'ers are going to sell out to stop the run when the Raiders have the worst running game in the NFL? Seems like the raiders run game stops itself and Murray hasn't played enough for the 49ers to worry about him yet.

Just scraped into the playoffs playing the #1 seed who is favoured over me by 40 pts - so yeah throwing Murray in and am looking for a big game.

Low expectations this week, but if he has at least a respectable performance against the Niners and gets 15+ touches, it'll be a far more interesting discussion about starting him week 15 in Kansas City.

Interim HC Tony Sparano says Latavius Murray won't be Raiders workhorse RB down stretch

Are we about done here? Terrible offense; stupid coach. What's not to like???

He has shown more talent than the rest of their roster combined... but it's just that. Shown talent. Not production. Hardly enough to anoint him "workhorse" - doesn't he need to at least finish a dominant half, first?

ETA: Which is basically what Sops is saying here. It's 8 carries. Wonderful, delightful carries... but 8 nonetheless. I didn't hear that Murray won't be the workhorse if he continues to perform. Or even given the benefit of the doubt to see what they have.

Can't see how this is news, unless you actually thought that LM would walk into 20 touches guaranteed this week.

Are you sure about the not production part? Doesn't he have like 10% of their rushing yards on the season just by his lonesome? - ETA - wait let me correct that, he has 20% of their rushing yards on the season and he's their second leading rusher - on the season.

Mark Davis probably asked Sparano to be a good soldier and keep his best players on the sidelines to guarantee the #1 pick.

I'm not trusting him this week with it being the fantasy playoffs ... So excited to see him play this week regardless. SF run D is not what it looks on paper, I think he puts up numbers. Still have more reliable options so I'm not starting him this week.

What I most excited about though is the dynasty aspect - drafted him as a rookie, I think in the late 3rd. So hopefully he shows out the rest of the year ... And the Raiders don't draft a RB high in next years draft. They need to bolster that o-line and continue to build the defense. If they do that, Murray could be huge next year.

Ok, poor phrasing on my part. SUSTAINED production.

Since my league has a W17, I'm holding onto him only with the hope that they decide to let him free the final game and that Denver doesn't need the game and pulls its starters early. Maybe he could win me the championship filling in for Crowell vs Bal.

@JoshDubowAP: Latavius Murray cleared to play this week for #Raiders. He last had 5+ carries in a game 12/21/12 in Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl vs Ball St

wtf.......I just had him plugged back into the flex --- when does the music stop?

should've been reading this thread.......
hey if he can do what he did with 4 carries im ok with him getting 10 or 15 touches

Can't just anoint someone the full workhorse after just 4 carries. What we need to watch in this week's game is how much the coaching staff plans on using him next week if he's outperforming the other backs.

I would only start him depending on my other options (clearly starting over Trent Richardson)

Was he in the parade?
If Sparano was the coach of UCF, yes that's where he would have put him.
Even that guy thought he needed a snap What daya think?. Only 1000 yard season Latavius ever had at UCF was his senior year.
And that is one more than Terrell Davis had in his college career. This post is complete tripe and has no relevancy to the discussion.

Loathed Sparano as head coach of the Dolphins.... Now I just hate him.
This could be coming from above Sparano so as not to jeopardize the top pick. I still think btw that Murray will see split carries with either Mcfadder and/or Reece. The trend during week twelve seemed to be pointing that way until the concussion.

I really could use a high-ceiling player like him this week, but he has become too risky for me. I will play Freddy Jackson over him. I've looked for any and every reason to get him in there, but there's just too much piled up in the "cons" column for my taste. Freakin Sparano.

F-Jax is no consolation prize. I'm loving him this week. He should catch a million dumpoffs.

After watching this raiders rams game, I expect Murray to force their hand into playing time. He is just obviously better than DMC and MJD. They couldnt even run the ball in garbage time, lol.

I never understood why 1000 yards is such a benchmark. It's about how you get those yards and efficiency. He didn't even play RB his entire career at UCF, but on a per carry basis he was phenomenal.

Because when you had an 8, 10 and even 12 game NFL season, 1000 yards meant you had to get the ball enough AND likely be efficient.

So dumb to sit this kid. Unless theyre tanking, why not get him some reps? Season was lost weeks ago. Dmc and mjd have been ineffective or dinged. They waste Reece.

What a cluster F$&@

The league has been filled with C. Benson's and Thomas Jones'. It's an arbitrary reference point. I meant in terms of projecting Murray to the NFL game its useless. It's about what is he capable of with the ball. When he received touches in college he performed. Now he's come full circle.
