RB Latavius Murray, BUF (2 Viewers)

Aren't the weather conditions supposed to be lousy tonight? How is Murray in those conditions? Any worries that Reece has a larger role?
Olawale has been getting the carries recently, not Reece. Carr has actually had more rushing attempts recently than all the backups
So that's a good thing then. Murray at least has been getting carries. Guy is so due to bust a long one!

Wishful thinking....

I will have this guy in every league I'm in next year. He's under the radar because he's on the Raiders but this dude is a player.

Thursday night football has been brutal to me all year, good week to stop that. Thanks Murray. That sure was a nice start. He just waltzed in there. Lets see some more holes like that please.

Where were all these passes earlier in the year? He's got good hands.......hopefully it's a sign of future usage.

Too little too late for me but thanks for showing up when it no longer matters Murray. Well played.

Still a nice game. I'd like to see oak invest in the OL this offseason and give Latavius more opportunities in the passing game next year.

doesnt seem like they are going to give anyone anything for it.

I would imagine that will be fixed later.

edit: they already fixed it

This makes it look like the illegal man downfield penalty was accepted, when the ref clearly stated both were declined. From NFL.com box score:

4-4-OAK 46 (:03) (Shotgun) D.Carr pass short right to L.Murray to SD 30 for 24 yards. Lateral to A.Cooper to OAK 46 for -24 yards. Lateral to D.Carr to SD 49 for 5 yards. Lateral to M.Crabtree to SD 49 for no gain (M.Te'o). Penalty on OAK-J.Feliciano, Illegal Block Above the Waist, declined. PENALTY on OAK-G.Jackson, Ineligible Downfield Pass, 0 yards, enforced at OAK 46 - No Play.

So any reason as to why the hell they took away that reception at the end of the first half?
Only speculation I've heard is the coaches actually accepted the penalty, although it was announced by the referee as declined. Story makes sense, but that is speculative.

No clue if we will see a correction; my guess is we will not

If they accepted the penalty, wouldnt there have been one more play?

Or maybe when the clock hits zero and there is an offensive penalty during the play, it is the end of the half whether they accept it or not

the half would be over either way, no need to give away free yards.

according to the play by play on nfl.com one of the penalties was accepted.

(:03) (Shotgun) 4-D.Carr pass short right to 28-L.Murray to SD 30 for 24 yards. Lateral to 89-A.Cooper to OAK 46 for -24 yards. Lateral to 4-D.Carr to SD 49 for 5 yards. Lateral to 15-M.Crabtree to SD 49 for no gain (50-M.Te'o). Penalty on OAK-68-J.Feliciano, Illegal Block Above the Waist, declined. PENALTY on OAK-66-G.Jackson, Ineligible Downfield Pass, 0 yards, enforced at OAK 46 - No Play.

According to ESPN's play by play and the official ruling on the field, both penalties were declined. The yardage should be awarded.

There is no reason for a defensive team to decline a penalty and let a play stand that resulted in yards allowed.

As a dyno owner since his rookie year, I've been disappointed like a lot of GMs. However, he is still a rare breed in that not only is he an exceptional athlete, but he's also a bell cow. I hope the problem just comes down to touches. He should be getting 20-25 a game between rushing/receiving.

He is still in firm RB2 territory in my PPR league, so this comes down to me having higher expectations. I envisioned Gurley and Murray being my stable as Forte rode off into the sunset. That may still happen, but it didn't in '15.

Agreed...but we're not evaluating how smart it was. We're trying to figure out why the ref verbalized that both were declined but now they are saying one was enforced.

Espn play by play still shows both declined. It was a gain of 4 yards net and the half was over. I could easily see a coach getting confused and thinking if they accepted the penalty that there would be another play.

Highly unlikely. Anyone who has followed football for more than a week knows a half cannot end on a defensive penalty, but can on an offensive penalty.

What seems more likely is the penalty was ultimately accepted but not announced on TV.

Highly unlikely? Coaches still do stupid ridiculous stuff all the time. They challenge plays that can't be challenged. They question calls that are no-brainers. Split second decision on an inconsequential play when half is over? Super easy to say declined and go into the locker room without giving it a second thought.

That's all well good, except that the play by play and the stats indicate the penalty was accepted.

Luckily it happened on a Thursday instead of a monday. Dust has settled, so no big deal really. I mostly find it odd that the penalty was clearly declined, so much so that the play by play on ESPN.com says even today...

4th and 4 at OAK 46
(0:00 - 2nd) (Shotgun) D.Carr pass short right to L.Murray to SD 30 for 24 yards. Lateral to A.Cooper to OAK 46 for -24 yards. Lateral to D.Carr to SD 49 for 5 yards. I just find it odd at this point that an official explanation hasn't been released. Maybe they have, but if they havent it just seems weird. There have to be thousands of people scratching their heads asking where did my points go???

What are people feeling about Murray these days? Word has been quiet out of Oakland. Usually that's a good thing but only for the short term I think. There are some prime targets at RB next year and unless Murray or Washington breaks out, I can see them making the move in the draft. I've never been impressed with Murray outside of his big game in 2014 against KC. He only finished as an rb1 this last year because the position suffered so many injuries while he played the whole year. I personally see him being average but maintaining his job this year due to excellent O-line play. Washington will get work but I can't see him winning the job without Murray blowing it.

What are your thoughts? Anyone going after him in dynasty?

I don't play dynasty but I am pretty optimistic about him this season.  The Raiders are building a mostly young and deep offensive line and Murray is definitely going to get the first crack at producing behind them.  He's big, he can catch, he seems to have some quicks and straight line speed.  I think he could do great things this year and I think the cost of acquiring him in dynasty will reflect that possibility.  That means if he fails this year you are going to lose even more.

If I had him I would hold him. If I thought for a second that I could get him for cheap I would be all over that.  But if I had to pay a premium based solely on limited info and potential then I would probably pass.

I'm holding him. He's not carrying a lot of value right now anyway. He wasn't great last year but it doesn't seem like they did anything to replace him.......

He'll see less carries than last year, might be an improvement. Coaching staff doesn't seem very high on him. Would not feel comfortable owning him without also owning DeAndre Washington who looks like MJD reincarnated.

What did you sell him for?  Looks like the window to buy low has closed, I probably should have been a little more aggressive in leagues I have a shot in.  Maybe Washington will get hot in camp and people will be looking for exit value on Murray.

Washington has a much more well-rounded skillset. He will make this a full blown RBBC by midseason, stealing the lion's share of the receiving stats IMO. Lat buyers beware.
