RB Miles Sanders, DAL (2 Viewers)

I think he’s proven to be pretty good in his first 2 years.
In spots. He's had some amazing plays but he never seems to consistently score each week. Some of that could've been old coaching staff but some was definitely him. Wells see what he can do this year.

The eagles coaches don't like him as a full time starting rb.  I don't think they like him as the lead of an rbbc.  He's fantasy fools gold.

He's the only back on the team that has had all of his touches with the first unit in camp?

Day 2 pick, several big plays, very high YPC, durability issues, under 200 carries each of his first 2 seasons.

I just described Miles Sanders. I also described Dalvin Cook and DeMarco Murray.

Just seems so weird/crazy to me that so many people are just done with this guy. A guy with a 5 YPC average for his career, who dealt with a collapsing offense around him last season, in which the OL was down 4 starters, including 2 all-pros, and the QB and Coach were both dumped.

Despite all of that, Sanders was RB21 last season and RB15 per game. So in a season where everything that could have gone wrong for the Eagles did go wrong, Sanders was still a solid RB2. They added nobody of note at RB, sorry Gainwell truthers but he was a day 3 pick for a good reason, and the offense will almost certainly be better than in 2020.

Sanders is being drafted at his floor right now often falling into the 5th round. There is absolutely top-10 upside here, and Sanders should be a priority RB2 target in my opinion.

Sanders looked good in limited action against the Pats.

So did Gainwell. I'm not seeing Scott as the COP back...I think that goes to Gainwell. Gonna be quietly adding him (Gainwell) as a late pick where I can. And yes, he's gonna limit Sanders' upside (IE: Anyone looking for top 10 production is going to be disappointed, but mid/low end RB2 is realistic...he's going around where he should be IMO)

Agreed but Gainwell is going to be a thorn in the fantasy production.

At least no touches by Scott.
I don't think as much as I thought. It sucked not having him out there on that 2min drill but most backfields have 2 RBs these days to keep both fresh. Sanders looked great in his role and was a few blocks away from breaking his usual big one a couple times. 100+ total yards and 20 touches is a great start imo.

Miles Sanders rushed 15 times for 74 yards in the Eagles' Week 1 win over Atlanta, adding four receptions for 39 yards.

Sanders out-snapped main backfield mate Kenneth Gainwell nearly 2-to-1, and tacked on a two-point conversion to make up a bit for the touchdown you'd hoped to see. He added a couple of nice pass protection pickups. Perhaps of more worry is that Sanders didn't have a single red zone target or rush attempt -- though he did have plenty of carries in Atlanta territory. The workload concerns should leave him as a mid-range RB2 for next Sunday's tilt against the 49ers, but Sanders' speed and tackle-breaking ability came through in his performance today.

Eagles RB Miles Sanders (chest) was limited in Thursday's practice.

This is a new listing for Sanders, but the limited tag this early in the week isn't a cause for concern just yet. If for whatever reason Sanders were to miss Week 3's MNF tilt with Dallas, it would be a big elevation for Kenneth Gainwell's stock. For now, with two days of practice left for the Eagles, it remains a situation worth monitoring rather than something that should send Sanders' managers scrambling for solutions.

Miles Sanders rushed two times for 27 yards in the Eagles' Week 3 loss to the Cowboys.

Sanders added three catches for 28 yards on four targets in the passing game. In total, the Eagles called just three runs to their running backs across 60 minutes of game time, and Sanders handled two of those. Jalen Hurts led the team in rushing with his 9-35 line. Philly was trailing by multiple scores much of the final three quarters, but Sanders' lack of usage was certainly head-scratching. Sanders will look to bounce back next week in a potential shootout with the Chiefs as an RB1/2.

I know they were trailing most of the game. But you have to have more than 3 carries and at least pretend like you are trying to establish the run.

I owned Sanders last year and stayed far away this year. Which is sad, because I think he’s a good/great running back on a different team.

I don't know what this offense is trying to do. Sanders only ran up the middle once or twice, and he gashed the Dallas defensive line. Philadelphia abandoned the run long before this was a blow out. Jalen Hurts is a mediocre passer, but the game plan never committed to the run.

Makes it hard now to start Sanders, but of course many of us will bench him and Sirianni will give him 25 touches next week.

That's just bad play calling all around. 3 running plays?? Cmon
The Eagles deserve to get blown out with that play calling.  Hurts is not great at passing the football so the Eagles try to throw the ball 90% of the time.  Makes no sense. The person calling the plays should be cleaning out his desk as we speak.

Guessing that's Sirianni himself and he's probably not going anywhere until after the season.

If I understand knee jerk Eagles reactionary coaching over the years, Sanders and Gainwell will have a combined 40 carries next week.

When was the last time a team only ran the ball 3 times with its RBs in a game?  That was nuts.

Someone earlier said it hadn't been done in at least 25 years. Not sure if that means they didn't check further than that or that was when it happened.

Think there may be a "correction" of sorts next week as they attempt to get back on track with some semblance of a running game?  Maybe they'll double Sander's carries? ;)

I would hope so. NFL coaches are stubborn but I can't imagine one so young would be so stupid to not see the obvious.

Week 1: RBs 26 carries 111 yds and a TD, 6/8 receiving for 45 yards. Won 32-6, TOP 31:03

Week 2: RBs 19 carries for 69 yds, 3/5 receiving for 22 yards. Loss 17-11, TOP 25:06

Week 3: RBs 3 carries for 29 yds, 6/8 receiving for 60 yds (mostly garbage time to Gainwell) TOP 25:02

Even an idiot can look at that and say "Run ball more gooder"

Sirianni looks like hes in completely over his head.  You would think that he would shift his playcalling but he'd had two weeks in a row of head scratching in-game play call decisions and overall game plan idiocy.  It sounds hyperbolic, but he might not last the season.  2 called carries for Sanders and 1 by Gainwell is offensive, putrid and damn near fireable.

this x100

Here’s what I thought before the season began.  Your best player on offense is sanders with a young qb.  Your get him the ball often and rely on short passing.  Boy was I wrong.
No. You were right. Whoever is calling plays for the Eagles is wrong. Very very wrong.

Abandoned the run? Think you mean never made any attempt whatsoever to establish the run.

Exactly. Dallas' pass rush was effective last night, but when the Eagles made it clear early they had no intention to run the ball, it was easy for the rush to tee off on Hurts. Perhaps Aaron Rodgers can drop back to pass 96% of the time and succeed, but Hurts isn't in the same universe as Rodgers. If the coaching staff is smart, they'll commit more to the run. If they're idiots and do exactly the same thing next week then I hope they all get fired. That was an atrocious game plan vs. Dallas.

But is he a buy low or sell low with this coaching staff??
Think he's a hold right now. I'd be hesitant to buy, though I absolutely believe in his talent. Maybe if the owner is completely fed up and would give him up for pennies on the dollar I'd buy.

I have both Gainwell and Sanders but this is getting worrisome. Going to have to figure out what games they plan on throwing a ton and when they plan on running again. Gainwell seems to be the receiving back.

I have the same quandary, as mentioned in the Eagles game thread.

I think Gainwell is a better play than Sanders at this juncture. Seems less game script dependent. Perhaps the decimated OL favors Gainwell more as a guy that can get into space quickly.

Or maybe Sirianni just prefers Gainwell more - who knows. What stands out most is Gainwell’s usage over Sanders in the red zone (particularly inside the 10). If anything, you’d think Sanders would be the guy there.

Best case scenario right now is they shop Sanders to an RB needy team for a 3rd or 4th rounder and then we get some use out of him.

Agreed - a trade would be great although not sure how many teams value RBs enough these days. And trades don’t happen that often as it is unfortunately.
