RB Nick Chubb, HOU (2 Viewers)

any rumors?

Is he asking too much? If the 'guaranteed' money isn't too much, i'd sure love my Broncos to bring him in. The risk-reward seems positive?
Browns told him to test the market and asked him to come back to them with his best offer then they'll decide whether to match or not.
And he should tell them to pound sand.
...why?
"Test the market and we'll decide if we want to match the best offer you get" seems like the definition of rational decision-making. What else should Chubb be expecting to hear? "Tell us anything you want and we'll give it to you. No questions asked."
There's clearly an enormous culture problem in Cleveland. Chubb is an important part of any positive culture they have. The message that front office continues to send to their players is that there's no accountability here. There's no real loyalty here. We pay scumbags outside the organization a quarter billion, but the guys who lay it on the line for the Browns can kick rocks. Chubb has laid his health on the line multiple times for them and fought hard to get back. I believe sent out an extremely heartfelt and emotional message to the city following his injury.

Football is a business, but it's a business comprised of people. Treat them poorly and you'll get an appropriate effort in return. I guess I see it differently being a Bucs' fan? We have players like Chris Godwin who isn't too dissimilar from Chubb. Chris tore an ACL in 2021. The Bucs signed him to an extension. Chris dislocated an ankle in 2024. The Bucs signed him to an extension. Is that bad football business process? Maybe, but you know who notices? The players. They know if they perform as a Buc they'll still be compensated even if they sustain injury. You know how I know? Godwin took significantly less money to continue being a Buc.

Chubb has been loyal to Cleveland and their response to him is, "Well, go see if anyone else will compensate you. We'll decide if you're worthy of it or not." Is it a surprise to anyone that the Browns have sucked for eternity treating their players that way?

If I were him I'd take the first offer I got and get the Hell out of there.
You should re-read the previous 2 pages. The Browns already did exactly what you said they should be doing now.
What did I miss? I'm responding to your post saying the Browns are going to let him "test the market" and the subsequent post. If you truly want to keep a player you give them your last and best and tell them it's your last and best. If there are reports that they've made him an offer and he's turned it down I didn't see them.

"Test the market" is code for "go see what you can get and we'll decide if you're worth that to us." Treating a player like Chubb that way is why the Browns are the Browns.

I mean exactly what I wrote, go re-read the previous 2 pages - that content dates back to fall, not last week. This is one excerpt, but not the only one.
If he were chasing a pay day, he could've played hard ball and gotten more when he signed his current contract. He didn't. The Browns were in a position to save $ by cutting him earlier this year. They didn't. I think there is mutual interest for him to say with the Browns.
It's fair to criticize just about everything Browns, but the way this group treats their veterans is not one of them. If anything, I'd argue the pendulum has swung too loyal.

I'd still like to see the Bears bring him in to spell Swift and handle short yardage / goalline. Probably a money issue as to why he isn't signed. He's still Nick Chubb and Nick Chubb don't play for the league minimum. However, if a few RBs start going down then Chubb's phone is ringing immediately.

I think he's a good skeptical hold in dynasty similar to Kareem Hunt last year. Kind of like DeAngelo Williams in Pittsburgh many years back. One injury can change everything.
Or Dalvin Cook? For the record, I am holding Chubb. There really is no other choice. He isn't going to fetch you anything in trade, and he is potentially too valuable to cut. I hope he can have a Hunt/Williams type of rebound, but he has not looked like Nick Chubb for a couple of seasons.

1 season, just 1 season.

Chubb looked like he might have been ready to have a career year in 2023. Had 170 yards at a 6.1 clip through 6 quarters.

I agree that Chubb looked every bit of himself before his most recent injury.

Now where is he at? Hard to say. I have only heard positive things in regards to his recovery.

The Browns know better than anyone else and they are letting him go. So there is reason to wonder about that.

But it's the Browns. They couldn't punch their way out of a wet paper bag.

Hayden Winks
Nick Chubb is coming off a broken foot (no surgery). He should be ready for camp to compete for Texans RB2 duties. Marks is a pass-catcher RB3 type imo.

He was dead last in yards *before* contact last year. Vision still great. Powerful. Didn't have agility coming off torn knee.
Not that I needed any reason to pass on Woody Marks (who I was honestly surprised was even drafted, let alone how high he was) but a Chubb addition makes him REALLY buried.

If Chubb does sign with the Texans someone (Bears?) should really think about trading for Dameon Pierce.

Chubb is interesting. I agree with everything Winks says here. If things break a certain way, Chubb could be a very big threat to Joe Mixon. Say what you will about the Texans OL, its an infinitely better offense to be on than the 2024 Browns.

Will always root for this guy. I hope his body will allow him to approach being the player that he once was.

Not a rosy write-up for Chubb
I see a lack of burst directed towards Chubb, but the writer really seems to be focused on the fact that they lost Mixon.
Surprisingly no mention of Woody Marks. Seems to be the shark move for that backfield.
I was thinking the same thing. In that article he mentions the OL as a possible issue in the same breath as Chubb having burst issues, but no mention if Marks looks any different behind that same OL.

Would love to see a resurgence here and the Mixon injury opens the door but this backfield just might be a mess. Maybe the play is CJ.

30 yrs old and has had major injuries, they also are not on the hook for a whole lot of money here
Mixon or no Mixon, there is a rookie named Woody that i would examine a little closer

-Those receiving stats he compiled are just unheard of
Can Woody make the team and assert himself as the 3rd down RB? That's a big gamble when you have a CJS, Woody has to be able to block and pick up the blitz
I'll assume he has some idea how to do this since he must have been involved on passing situations in college
When the Texans are behind i doubt you see Chubb or Mixon
Woody is dirt cheap if he's even drafted

Will Pierce become relevant again? I'm not sure why he was phased out to begin with.
He ended up being a round peg in a square hole when they changed the running scheme after his rookie season. The good news is they have gone back to a power run scheme like they ran during his rookie season. They actually started that towards the end of last year. Pierce ran for 176 yards in week 17 when he finally got more than a few touches.

Interestingly, with that herculean effort, Pierce nearly matched Chubb's season stats. Pierce rushed for 293 yards and a pair of TDs on the season. Chubb tallied 332 yards and 3 TDs. Neither was a factor in the receiving game. Chubb has had an amazing career, but I worry whether he can rebound from what was a horrific injury. It would be a great story, for certain.

Chubb looked better than I thought he would today. Had good vision and still had quick enough feet to get where he needed. I've been grabbing Pierce late everywhere I can, but Chubb didn't look like a guy who is going to get cut soon to me. The first team OL also looked much improved as they pushed the Panthers around a little bit on that second drive for the Collins TD. Chubb had some good runs in there mixed in with passes to Kirk, Nico, Higgins, and Nico again.

Houston Texans: Hey Nick Chubb we need more runnings backs, please sign this $2.5m contract for this season.

Armchair QBs: He’s going to get cut soon.

Vision and feet should be expected. Does he find thay extra gear? That'll be the difference between him blending in vs the lead guy.

I've not seen his game yesterday yet but almost every positive thing I hear said about him is his vision. Which if of course fine but it's what I'm not hearing that makes me have the same questions you do.

Love the player.
But if you draft Chubb make sure you have plans for 2nd half of 2025.
He should last a few weeks. They will want someone who can read pass protection for Flacco or the rookie QBs.

I'm avoiding.

He's an ideal pick in guillotine leagues

Especially because that may allow Cleveland to pick him back up after his team loses so he can protect Flacco and the Rookies.
